This is exactly what I've experienced. Even worse, I suffered from depression after being rejected because I didn't know how to control my emotions or my thoughts.

She did cancel on me 3 times and then I stopped asking. Then suddenly, she asked me out to a concert. I think that the only way we truly know what someone is thinking is to ask them directly. This is hard and takes a lot of courage, but basically you have to risk it. You have to ask them not just to "hang out" but to ask them out on a date. Regardless of what the answer will be, you will walk with confidence knowing you gave it your shot.

For the longest time, I thought I was completely straight. Tayler Muilenburg thanks. I’ve already acknowledged that she doesn’t like me like, the hard part for me is trying not to be hard on myself. She also friend zoned over text, and we never talked about in person, so that might also contribute to why I still like her. As for hobbies I really like playing video games and they can distract from my crush, but the only problem is that my feelings tend to come into my mind when I’m not doing anything, like when I’m about to go to sleep, and once they’re there, it’s hard to get them out. As for friends, there really aren’t that many, if any, who actually be willing to strike a conversation with me, but also I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try. Overall, things have gotten a little better, but not to the degree that I would’ve liked, but thank you for the advice, it was pretty nice to get some else’s opinion on what I should do, rather than someone just telling me to get over it.

Man this video is the reality I needed to fix myself. Met this girl online and fell for her day one, we gamed all the time and enjoyed talking to each other a lot. We knew we liked each other but never made a move, I was to scared cause she’s be my first girlfriend ever. Eventually she said she’d fallen hard for a guy and she started to become more distant from me, to the point where she basically ticks every box in this video. (She doesn’t really use me for anything though since we’re not close to each other). But this is the clarity I need to realize that I’m hurting myself more than I should. She’s my first love, I truly care about her, but when the signs are so prevalent it’s time to move on away from my own pain. Thank you for making this video, I couldn’t have fixed myself alone and am feeling much better now. All my friends said is that “if she ever reaches out, don’t be hesitant.” Which I won’t, cause I care a lot about people. It hurts a lot in the moment, but you’re the only one hurting yourself. Keep your head up cause she’s not the only one 😊

1. They rarely acknowledge you 2. They never initiate conversations 3. They cancel on you a lot 4. They're taking advantage of you 5. Your becoming obsessed with them 6. Your friends want you to move on 7. They're interested in someone else 8. They're dating someone else

Darlin', are you really in love with him, or with the *idea* of him? Those can be very easily confused. We often fall in love with an ideal, and then project those qualities on the object of our affection. But they may not match up with our notions. See how his personality and behavior in your daydreams matches with the real-life him. (If he really is acting like he doesn't give a damn about you after 7 years, then I'm guessing he *isn't* a match.) Be brutally honest with yourself. If you are in love with the fantasy, and keep associating the fantasy with the person, it's near-impossible to let go. And we shouldn't let go of our fantasies! We can use them to help us figure out what is important to us in a partner, in a relationship. But I'm sure you know it's time to let go of your crush. If he's shown no signs of getting closer with you in all this time, it's not going to happen, he'll never be the person you want him to be. Move on and make space in your heart & life for someone that will appreciate and love you. Not saying it will be easy, but it'll be worth the struggle.

Aritra Ghosh I honestly knew that she didn't when I snapped back to reality and the sparks started to fizzle out... she really know me, I probably remember everything she's ever said, the last of them being "sorry" when I almost walked into her out of a door. I don't say that to be creepy; I mean to say that she's literally said roughly 50 words to me and I remember them because I remember things like and there' such little to remember.

Yep, if your crush or whatever you want to call it. We had a situation where I think he had a crush on my daughter. But, his way of showing it was to show attention to every other girl around her instead of just talkingto "HER". Then one day he asked her who she liked? She was like what? In a weird twist, he all of a sudden acted like he had a crush on her and was trying to make her jealous??? All she thought was that he was a big flirt, and didn't want to end up getting hurt so avoided him at all costs. I told her I didn't really understand this, but felt if a guy really has a crush on YOU he should be trying to talk with just YOU and find out something about YOU. He now has a girlfriend from entirely somewhere else; Again, don't understand so I told her to keep avoiding him.

Something that absolutely pissed me off today was my best and closest friend was talking to my crush today and they had such a good conversation was laughs and jokes. I wasn’t mad at him and I didn’t say anything about it, but I feel like they have feelings for each other, so I had to let go I also did this because I was absolutely obsessed with her and couldn’t stop thinking about her, but eventually you have to let go. Even my friends were telling me “Its time to stop”.

I'm crushing my best friend since 3 years, i was texting him first everytime, he was never interested as much i was. But i always dreamed about him everyday, for weeks, months, and years.. And after some time ,i realised that he never liked me,and just sees me as his best friend. When i realised that, i didn't text him for weeks. I was feeling useless, and desperate. And one day, i got a text from him, he said that he has a crush in school, and she was a beautiful, intelligent, perfect girl for her. Okay that was totally horrible- I was shocked at the moment, and start saying something absurd to make him stop talking to me about the girl. And he started to say that i'm a horrible friend. And blocked me. we didn't talk for 7 months. That was AWFUL :D - "You had the chance to be with him!." That was what im telling to myself everytime. But it was never like that. Now he apologized me, and said that he wants to continue our friendship. What can i do? IDK THAT STORY WAS HELLA LONG BORING AND FAST. BUT PLEASE HELP ME. WHAT SHALL I DO???

I don’t trust “friends” advice about me and my crush cause they’re snakes and will ruin everything. It has happened to me before and now I don’t trust anyone.

I think not initiating conversation the first time is understandable since some people are shy. But if it's someone you meet often and who def knows you cause you've talked to them multiple times (e.g. a classmate) but you STILL are the one who always has to initiate the convo, that's a sign they just want nothing to do with you.

I've had a crush on my friend for 15 long years I've met back in jr high school. I finally told her I had a crush on her and liked her for a very long time through message but it didn't happen they way I wanted it to be. She already knew from the start I've liked her but it looked like she didn't really appreciate it. She just told me straight up that we're just friends and said I should stop crushing on her and find someone else because she's not the I thought I was gonna love. It hurt so much but I have to accept and respect her answer. I guess holding my feelings for my longtime friend for 15 years was really all for nothing. I don't ever want to tell my crush how I feel about them ever again after that because I might get the same answer. It might be more hurtful or brutal. I'd rather just keep feelings for someone inside my heart forever. No matter how much it hurts, no matter how much I get jealous, no matter how long it lasts until it slowly or quickly tears me apart.

I ticked almost all of these… And didn’t even realise until I fell in too deep and got really hurt when she said no to me asking her to become my gf after we went on several dates over around two months. Before this rejection she said she liked me a lot, but that was her just leading me on because I always bought her nice dinners and gifts. I was being taken advantage of but I denied that reality. I sent her a final message saying I respect her decision and wish her well, but she didn’t even bother to reply. It hurts to care so much about a person who doesn’t care about you anywhere near as much. I want to move on so bad

how about having a crush on someone who has anxiety/depression? they constantly cancel plans and lock themselves inside. what do you do then??

As someone with depression I would advise to let them feel at ease. Message them and make them feel comfortable, maybe set up a video call? They have to let you in and be secure with you. Good luck!! :)

Don’t pressure them! Also, no phone calls. I have anxiety and I always freak out in phone calls, I definitely prefer text, and maybe they do too. Maybe to plans at their house.

The other comments so far before mine are dead on. Phone calls can be rough, and let them feel comfortable first. I would go even further in that, I'd say focus on being JUST friends for a while while they get comfortable wiith you. If you genuinely care for the person, and you know they're battling depression, you gotta want to work alongside them to deal with the mental stress, if that makes sense? I'm not saying don't pursue them as a crush at all, hell I have depression and I wouldn't want that to stop anyone from being attracted to me. I guess what I'm saying is approach their depression as a buddy, a friend, putting your romantic desires in the backseat at first and concentrate on helping them better themselves. At the same time though, it's tricky because you shouldn't force help on them. Just because you have a crush on them doesn't mean you should invest all your energy into "fixing" them. They have to go at their own pace---unless it's destructive behavior like self harm. Let them come out of their shell when they want to. Do enough to let them know they can count on you as a friend, invite them places, offer to hang out, but definitely don't press them to say yes. That could scare them away and you won't even be friends, let alone date them. So yeah, go slow, be their friend, no phone calls, no pressure. Jebus cripes, this comment is a trainwreck inside a dumpster fire, I apologize. That's anxiety for ya!
