dude had a crush on me for like 4-5 years in middle and high school. There's a difference between being close to/casually touching your crush and full on ignoring when they tell you not to touch them or continually remind you of personal space. Dude would get up in my face til i was on the edge of my seat leaning almost 90 degrees away from him and he's still mere inches from my face and touching me. It wasn't until my junior year of highschool my flagrantly gay (actually bi) guy friend became a freshman and had lunch with me every other day when this dude had the same lunch period. When dude who was crushing on me would try to bother me, my 6 foot something friend would stand up and get in his space the way he'd do to me and make him uncomfortable the way he was always doing to me. Note- dude crushing on me is also 6 foot something, about the same height as freshy friend, but also my age and much bigger around. Yet my knight in shining 6" heels always got him to leave me alone. I was so grateful because after YEARS of being uncomfortable with this dude in the hallways or during lunch or classes, I finally had a bit of peace, while my friend had his fun with the dude who kept ignoring my explicit wishes for him to leave me alone and stop touching me. If you actually read all of this leave a shoutout to your friends who bail you out of tough spots like this. They're honestly the best.

She tells me she loves me often, and I say it back but probably just as a friend (another thing that backs this up is we're both female, probably), she said she literally wants to marry me when we're older, she often hugs me on random occasions, taking me by surprise, she's desperate to spend time with me, she says she misses me after like 5 minutes of being away from me, she flirts with me, she said her friends told her to stop talking about me because she was talking about me so much (we go to different schools), online when me, her and one of our other friends have played together they've said 'omg im so third wheeling here', we have so many inside jokes we have our own language at this point, they're always so supportive, and they care so much about me and I'm so grateful. I'm happy I have them. Small problem: We've known each other our whole lives. We met when I was a week old and she was around 3 months. Honestly? I'm madly in love, but we're still young, and after knowing each other our whole lives, I'm scared that asking her out/ kissing her would break an invisible wall between us and we'd never be the same. And considering I want her to be with me for as long as I live, that would pretty much ruin any future I've thought of. Or, it could go well and we could get married and grow old together... Still, I'm a trainwreck. Not a chance I'd ever be courageous enough to ask her out.

My husband and I were best friends, and both basically clueless about what the other felt (though everyone around us had it figured out--they didn't tell us, though). Neither of us wanted to risk a great friendship. Also didn't help that he is *painfully* shy and reserved! Looking back, there were so, so many signs and signals that neither of us saw. We'd have hours-long text convos that stretched late into the night (he's a morning person, and had an old flip phone without a keyboard...). We'd send carefully worded ambiguous texts (--only to get equally ambiguous replies!) He took me on a "not-a-date"--to a very nice place--for my birthday (thought he: friends can take friends out for their birthday, that's not weird, right?). I remember him mostly in profile (great view of his gorgeous dimples!), he didn't dare look me in the eyes w/o giving himself away. I giggled. I. Do. Not. Giggle. Ever. But I did...He grinned and laughed (a lot)--something he was not ever known to do (slight smiles and chuckles, yes). The spot-on b'day presents showed he'd paid very, very careful attention to me. It sure *felt* like a date! (Us: "but what does he/she feel about me?" Everyone in the restaurant knew--except us.) It started to come out in two nights of hours-long text marathons a couple weeks later. At one point, he said "I see why guys fall so quick for you". (Me: romantic feelings? or friend complimenting friend?)(yes, I know, totally gormless.) Things got steadily less ambiguous from there. The second night of dancing around, he finally stuck his neck out and said something so unambiguous (and so sweet!) that even *I* could figure out how he felt. I replied in kind. We got married 6 months later (much to nobody's surprise).

When your crush is an introvert with major social anxiety who happens to be asexual and supposedly half aromantic and show some of these signs and claim its platonic but then they say they're chill if it became romantic but then get mad at you when you address them as just a friend and try to make as much physical contact as possible but also dont really initiate hanging out much but then say they miss you randomly. I had a crush on a guy from one of my classes during the entire year. I used to stare a lot at him, smile and I put on makeup whenever I knew he would be sitting in front of me. The thing about them making themselves out to be stronger is kinda true, he demonstrated that he could carry me on his shoulders when we talked about how to exit a room in an emergency situation in class. We were always stalling for time until the next period started, even if we were already out of the classroom. We now know we like each other, but because of quarantine we can't meet

Came for some help on figuring out a situation, but just realised I've been doing all these things

My story is noone liked me ever and I've lived a forever alone existence for my entire adult life. Even if someone did like me now I wouldn't even know what to do about it. The truly sad part is I'm pretty old, and all of my peers have already had many relationships, (many are married with kids, even) and I'm so lacking in experience I probably don't even offer what people my age are looking for. This reads like an angsty thing someone who is 21 or under might say, but trust me, I'm MUCH older. I'm successful in everything but love. But as the Beatles say, "love is all you need". In short; it can be a lonely, shitty existence at times, and I often stop and wonder why I'm bothering at all.
