I got told not to wash my hair for a month, been 3 weeks now and I'm gonna wash em after watching this video! Thanks for all the advice 😆
the women in that salon who dreaded your hair were monsters! i've dreaded dozens of heads including my own and the only time it should hurt is when fixing up dreads that have formed together... if someone has to ask them to stop, they need to sort themselves out!

Mine hurt like HELL!!!!! I could barely make it thru it!!! Worse than my tats and almost as bad as childbirth!

@@inkpearls3364 I had absolutely zero issues with pain. My loctician started my dreads tight enough to swim and not come undone but left a little loose root as to not cause traction alopecia. I'm no professional but I'm sure pain and pulling is a recipe for irreversible hair loss.

I did mine and my husbands. Noether of us herat. Mine are more freeform sectioning. And I laid his out by plan. I maintain both of ours
I love the way you talk about dreads as if they were alive - you say 'grow' a lot, and 'decide to live together' - it's so cute. A great look for you in this video; the headband works well and the colours are all in harmony.
You are right about washing them. Squeaky clean dreadlocks will dread up and mature a LOT faster than dirty, greasy/lubricated ones! I can attest to that first hand!
wired and stoned, they have good tips and essential oils for dreads and scalp. just discovered them myself as I'm venturing into dreads myself. :)
It made me really sad to hear that you're getting hate for your pronunciation of "back comb" and "crochet." My boyfriend and I love your voice and your accent, and your English is incredible. I've seem some other people comment that your videos are calming, and it's true. Your voice and pronunciations just have a soothing quality that I love. Ignore those jerks! Haters gon' hate.

Those people making those comments, I will guarantee, they only speak one language. When you speak more than one language your pronunciation will likely be different from a native speaker and with English there are so many different dialects and ways to say the same word. Ignorant people will pick on small things like that.
Ever since seeing other girls have hair wraps in high school I've thought they were magical and very pretty. I was never confident enough or wanted to do that to my hair at the time so I never did it. But I've been watching so many videos online for quite awhile now about dreads. And today I put two baby dread in my hair. One on each side. Using the twist and rip method, I think it's called. Plan on getting a crochet hook to tighten them and tidy them a bit. I'm excited to wrap them and decorate them. Btw I think your dreads are so beautiful!
I know this video is old, but I just wanted to add something! :) there’s a certain method of creating dreadlocks where tiny rubber bands are used at the scalp to hold parts and portions in place for sectioning. If you use this method, it is really important to remember to cut or take the rubber bands off within the first 24-48 hours so the dreads can naturally form their roots. If they’re left in, the roots can be very thin, or the dreadlocks can eat the rubber bands!

No dont use rubber bands at all. Just trust the process people of mixed race dont really need rubber bands. Nothing beats patience in my opinion

For 3 months I stopped brushing my hair. Keeping it clean washing with natural shampoo and spraying occasionally with sea salt water then switching it up with essential oils like patchouli etc. My hair started naturally separating by itself so by the 3rd month I was ready to create individual dreads with twist rip back combing and crocheting just around a few locs to prevent congos later on. The next month, I’m gonna neglect my hair just washing and spraying it to keep it healthy. Cheers!!!
♥️ I love this! I've had my dreads almost as long and I would give all the same advice 😊 I'd like to add a #9 (for anyone who doesn't have them yet and is still considering) that when your dreads get more mature they are basically like hard little tubes which can sometimes be weird to lay on or arrange comfortably to sleep, I love my locks just the same but it's not something I see these kind of videos ever mention 👍

Monica McGarrigle I've had dreads about four times (some partial) I always have issues with super loose roots and my scalp goes insane. I want my dreads again but I don't know how to cope with mine
Thank you so much for this! I had my dreads started a month ago. I was freeforming but wasn't trusting the process so had them crocheted. I have been worried about them since, but this is some great advice. I feel more confident about looking after them now. Thankyou.
Im starting my new dreadlocks and i love them... Its a journey!!! Thank you for the advice
I've had all these things told to me! The one I hate most is "you need to use wax!" People need to calm, there are many ways to lock k

You are so cute! I love your accent and love how you pronounce words. Thank you for the advice. My dreads are a few months old, and I really appreciate the advice.
Very helpful information! Thank you for sharing! :)
Thanks so much for your advice 🙏 😊
This was so nice to hear! I been wanting dreads for a while but I heard that I shouldn't be washing my hair too often with dreads and that freaked me out. My scalp is sensitive when it comes to hygiene and if I don't wash it enough I get itchy and dandruff. Obviously don't want dandruff in dreads
I think so too. I make soap so I use my own soap bars. But. I wash my hair same as I had before. Like every other day or something. I use a terry cloth wrap and dry. Even a hair dryer closet to the end of my drying time. And roll. N touch them up next day or so. 🤷🏼♀️. I've had mine almost a yr and they are sooo good. I do stay with a sea salt water spray . Scrunch n roll. N air dry. Separation once or twice a day depending on length. Agree with a lot of her suggestions.
I love washing my hair with my dreads, I have an oily scalp and I know they say my scalp will adjust if I just don't wash it, but I just can't. I love my squeaky clean scalp and I haven't had any negative effects. I do have to pay extra attention to drying and never being tempted to drip dry, but it's so worth it to me.
I’m getting mine tomorrow :D
I got mine and it felt like I was getting my heat tattooed but then eventually you will go for retwist and you will get used to it over time
Thankyou. I’m about to get dreads in a few weeks
My top advice is use "Lock peppa" when palm rolling them, it helps bigtime and doesn't mess with your hair like wax does
Thank you this video was very helpful. 😁
I just started by dread journey and they are about 2 weeks old now. I have gotten all kinds of comments like "how are you going to wash your hair?" to, "It just looks messy" to the whole clutural appropration issue as well. just remember its a journey and people are gonna make comments, if someone asks why they look loose or someone who has seen them before asks why they look different. You can explain the process and how they lock up. I also learned from a KZread video you can vigorously rub the root of your dreadlocks when they are dry, this helps the roots lock up, works great if you just washed them. I am in the baby stages, I wash my hair once a week or once every two weeks. I also use a locking spray. And yes try not to worry.
I love your accent!! I think your SO cute!! ♡
Great help for me,thank u very much.
Thank you!
Thank you!! I have baby locks
Don't worry about your pronunciation, you can just call it a back comb, it's a verb and a noun! You are adorable xx
I left a comment on another video of yours,I thought y said u didn't wash yours. I misunderstood. I knew they looked amazingly clean.luv ur videos
Thanks for the tips
What natural shampoo do you use?
I love your deadlock videos! :D I was wondering tho, what do you use as background? I adore it! :D
I got mine 10 days ago in a afro shop ..it was painful but I slept fine after..after first wash of them day 7 a lot of my hair showed...today even worse...on my way way for check up/fix now...wish me luck..♡
it helped me a lot, thank you
i do my dreads by my self - all fine, but what do you make with the roots?
Thank you, I love your video. How do you sleep with them, is it necessary to tie them up in a silk scarf?
Love yours locs..
Where did you get yours done? A salon? What do you suggest?
I just love listening to you. Every one of you're videos are flawless. Even when you lose count of your hairdo's lol 💩👍🏻😂😉

Thx you helped me a lot
hi, how early on can i add beads, or cuffs etc to my new dreadlocks? will a cuff put on not to tight be ok? Im eager to decorate them a little. Ok they only a day old, i can wait a bit, as im still palm rolling them but i really want to attach things.
Getting my dreads done in 5 days
I make my dreadlocks with palm rolling. I cant figure out the interlocking hook But palm rolling works amazingly!!!!
A beautiful dreadhead 😶😍
are there any natural shampoos that you’d recommend for dreadlocks and are there any specific products or ingredients to avoid/look out for
I love your accent ❤️ haters gonna hate
tysm yes
she is so hippie 😍
In regards to beads or wraps of yarn on your locks. That should be taken out at every shower and not put back in until the hair is completely dry, and not in the same place 🤙
How did you tie your hair like that? And what inspired tour bangs pattern?
I got dreads on sunday it dont hurt

Havde aldrig troet du var dansk, hvis ikke det var fordi jeg læste din tekst! Haha .. Tusinde tak for denne video 💙
I created a dread in my hair and did it super tight to my scalp. (Basically as tight as I could do it) I used the twist and rip method and then I slept and took a shower the next morning and the whole top half knots moved down and so the bottom half is dreaded and the top half isn't at all and I don't know what to do.
Thank you so much for this video.. iv had mine a day now and I have also got to the messy stage. I’m worried that when I wet them in the shower for the first time my hair will go back to normal and il lose the locks😢
hey your dreads are awesome btw don't let anyone tell u different. I just had my dreads done a week ago I was wandering when I can start tidyin them with a crochet hook or shall I just leave them for a bit longer as some strands of hair have come out?

I had a hair stylist put a small brass wrap & a few wire wraps when I went in for a tighten been 2 weeks she did a tighten where need ed I am a disabled senior with MS and I choose way for me for many reasons, I choose to continue to look as good as humanly possible with what I have to work with. SIMPLE that is the name of the game and you have to break things down it do able segments. Thank you Elise
Hello! I see that you have had dreads for a while and they are quite long. But then you have also had extensions. My hair is wavy and mid-back long, yet i have loops galore even after i do maintenance after my showers. Do you have any advice for that or did you not get any due to your extensions?
@evebernard
8 жыл бұрын
+Lluvia Ramos I am in the process of new dreads. I have SO MANY LOOPS! I have been doing maintenance with back combing and the super tiny crochet hooks to tighten and work the loops in. Before doing that I would I hold the base of the dread near the scalp and pull the bottom, it will work some of the loops in, follow with palm roll. Now that they are a month and a half that technique is not working as well, but still helps. I will say even with the crochet technique you will still get some loops. All part of the process. :) Best of luck on your baby dreads!
I’ve had mine for nearly two weeks and my head was never painful… I don’t think it’s nessessary to start them so tight that it hurts … some were a bit painful as they were being crochet …
Hi beautiful Elise! I had my dreads done some DAYS ago, and I happen to be experiencing exactly what you did: it hurts, it´s very itchy, I have washed them twice already (although I have been told not to do it),but I have a question: when will they start to soften? they are really hard, it actually feels like rope .-) HELP!! (I really found your advice very helpful for me, thanks!).

Nice video! Could you please tell me where did you get your background? I'm in love with it. You're so cute btw
I was told you need to put castro oil in them? I'm vegan so that won't work for me. Still no dreads yet... but seriously thinking 🤔 Oil in the hair? True or false?

yo love from akron ohio goodyear heights area, im 21 and me and my twin are growing our hair out for dreads right now lol! but yea u only want essential oils and put them into distilled water to make a spray (rosemary, lavender, peppermint, tea tree etc.) and like 4 to 6 drops each is what ive heard :D kzread.info/dash/bejne/aIagk7idoqfPadY.html
what is the music in the background?
I have a ton of loose hair. I've had dreads about 8 weeks now and I'm not sure if I should just let them be for awhile and let them knot naturally or if I should be redreading all the time?

they will make their way into the dread eventually or you can get a crochet hook or go somewhere to crochet them in.

Can I ask you a question? I have extremely thick hair, and anytime I try to grow it out it gets SO itchy. Idk what to do. It’s also very dry and flaky.

Ere Mas essential oil spray on the scalp helps so much! I have the same kind of hair. I use apricot oil and then drops of my favorite oils with a few drops of tea tree. I spray just a little bit in the scalp directly and run it in. It feels so good! You don’t need to use a lot!
what song is in the background??
I have dreaded my hair 3 weeks ago and put in a few extension dreads and I keep thinking I did it wrong ... and Is it ok that they r soft at first ??

New dreads are always soft. They will harden as they loc up. They will also shrink when that happens, that will be your clue that they are maturing.
