8 officers shot in Charlotte, NC, 4 killed while serving warrant
At least four law enforcement officers were killed in Charlotte, North Carolina while trying to serve a warrant. The fallen included a deputy U.S. marshal; two members of the North Carolina Department of Corrections, identified as Sam Poloche and Alden Elliott; and one member of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Joshua Eyer.
Police said an armed man who exited the house where the warrant was being served was shot and killed in the front yard. He was later identified by police as 39-year-old Terry Clark Hughes Jr.

@jackprecip5389
27 күн бұрын
While I agree that the country is deteriorating in many ways, this isn't really the best example of that. Not trying to dismiss the magnitude of this incident, but let's be honest, criminals and bad guys (and sometimes even decent people and citizens pushed into a corner by overzealous law enforcement) shooting and killing policeman has happened rather consistently throughout American history ever since the 6-shooter revolver pistol was invented and we were still riding horses for transportation. The difference now is that no matter where it happens, it will be on the internet and 30+ TV channels nonstop for a week. EVERYBODY will know about it. Back in the day, if it didn't happen in your neck of the woods, it would be in the National section of your newspaper in a small article on the bottom of page 3 one time about a week after it happened, and it probably wouldn't even get a mention on one of 3 network nightly news shows. Four policeman getting killed by the same criminal probably would have always gotten on the news, but most single policeman deaths usually did not. Same thing goes for floods, hurricanes, and wildfires, and they'll try and convince you that they are happening a lot more often because of some ridiculous reasons like you driving a gas powered car or some other nonsense.

I don't know, but dude definitely wasn't going back to jail.
A lot of misinformation & assumptions in the comment section. I live about 2 mi. from the scene where this occurred in Charlotte. Everything started going down about 01:30 PM. 4 members of the US Marshall's local task force were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on a fugitive felon in possession of a high-powered rifle. Apparently, the suspect came out the front door of the residence shooting. He shot & killed 3 of the task force officers, but was shot dead by one or more of them. The surviving member called for back-up, as someone inside the residence began shooting. When local police & other law enforcement officers began arriving, 4 local Charlotte officers were shot & wounded, & one subsequently died in the hospital. After a 3-hr. stand-off, the local SWAT team stormed the residence & apprehended 2 suspects inside. Every law enforcement officer knows that any such situation is risky, but it's their job, & they face the same risk any time they answer any kind of call. They are human, just like anyone else; sadly, they became the victims of violent criminals in this instance, as they were simply doing their job to get those criminals off the street.

@@clisediagonzalez5010 The law enforcement officers serving the warrant were US Marshalls, some of the best-trained law officers in the country, & serving warrants is something they do all the time, everywhere. Anytime a law officer is attacked while performing his or her duty, they are TRAINED to call for back-up. Had other officers not responded, the remaining wounded Marshall would probably have been killed by the suspects who were shooting from inside the house, & they could also have begun shooting at civilians. Law officers are TRAINED to run toward the danger, & to neutralize it before it becomes a danger to the community. That's what being in law enforcement means.

I'm not a fan of that. Some people may be in the middle where maybe we don't think they should rot in prison for eternity, but we also don't deserve to have a weapon like that. The founding fathers were smart, but they did not exactly sit back and think about certain situations. Nor did they clarify points often. I think they meant for things to be interpreted with common sense. By free man, they likely meant men who are peaceful and law abiding. They also lived at a time where stealing from your neighbor could end you up in prison for a very long time and other crimes could land you in prison for life or hanging from a tree, where as now they might be a 4 or 5 year sentence.

When I switched to CNN and MSNBC to see if they were carrying the story....NOOO they were on the Trump court case. SMH
Never mind the suspect's motive and actions. The weapon just took it upon itself and jumped up and shot the officers, unfortunately killing four of them. 😡 Why???
Serve warrants when these people are somewhere else other than their homes, these law-enforcement sure didn’t learn any lessons from the Burnsville Minnesota shooting incident!
What goes around comes around..
This is so sad!! Rest in Peace and prayers for the officers families!

From what I've read lately (albeit not intently so it could be overblown), Scotland is so deranged now that they made a law making speech a crime if it's deemed "offensive", even on the sewers of the internet, and police there will actually arrest and prosecute citizens for it. If Scottish police have any backbone, they'll all refuse to do it, but I'm guessing they'll go along with the tyrannical lunacy.

He had a defensible position. Likely most of the fallen officers happened at the very beginning when it all erupted and the cops were in a bad situation with a guy who was prepared and had a defensible position. Dude was probably skilled too. Officers do approach with some caution, but they don't go to every door expecting a firefight to breakout. They know it's a slight possibility, but they'd never get anything done if they went to every door crouching and running military maneuvers.
Something has to change in how the officer/s serve warrants - change it please
Why were all those Officers there?

When your 6 months of training is nothing but escalation of force, violence, and little to no understanding of the law, it's almost like that isn't working.🤔
Usual suspects on both sides
The families of the 2 Corrections Officers should sue the government. Prison guards have a very difficult job but they do not even carry firearms in the course of their duties. Why in the world were 2 men who are at a given deficit of training assigned a mission to breach a home of a dangerous armed suspect? This just makes no sense to me.
