When I saw the title of this video, one of the first things that came to mind was Green Lantern's lady being "fridged". Another was the murder of Jason Todd and his mother. As always thank you so very much for the video.

I found the fridging in that comic book really disturbing as a child
I'd like to add One More Day, Sins Past, Mary Jane's death in Reign, and the whole Anissa situation in Invincible
The Governor keeping Michonne captive and Michonne's revenge on him ... the sicko killing the twins in the prison ... Negan killing Glenn. TWD had a lot of moments that made me drop the comic whilst reading.

The entire run-up to "Infinite Crisis" was the absolute PEAK of DC Comics, back in the day! All four of those events occurred in that time period for a reason.
One I really hate is the scene in Superman #1 from the Rebirth era, where Jon accidentally fries his cat with heat vision
All of Ultimatum, Cap's Hail Hydra, Reed has slapped his wife and son, any Batman/Batgirl romantic relationship, patsy Walker being mentally tortured and committing suicide, Lian being crushed to death.
The invisible man punishment
#3: What makes that ironic, is back in the 70s (O'Neil/Adams team) Ollie went to a Retreat when he accidentally killed a crook with his arrow.
Okay, context here with the Yellowjacket story. When he slapped Jan, he was being psychologically tortured by one of his enemies. He was literally in the middle of a mental breakdown. He didn't just get upset or lose his temper, this was a coordinated, intentional effort by a supervillain to manipulate him.

Worse still, in real life it was a mistake; I read once that the script was for him to spin around gesticulating and mistakenly strike Janet, but the illustrator drew it to look deliberate.

This is one of the bigger mistakes Marvel has had to deal with for their entire lifespan. It basically has destroyed Hank Pym as a character, and has haunted him ever since. What's worst? Marvel has NEVER stood up to try and explain the event down, no surprising.

The rape of Sue Disney in Identity Crisis was what finally forced me out of mainstream comics.
@sp00kycup30
Жыл бұрын
Identity crisis was a horrendous story with no real reason to exist. All it did was kill off lesser known yet still fan favorite characters in cruel and unnecessary ways. Almost everyone was written out of character and in the worst ways possible. It completely ruined Dr. Light turning him from a goofy oddball villain to a sick and perverse maniac, forever tainting the characters legacy.
Haven't started the video yet but I assume The Blob moment from Ultimatum will be here.
I found the whole sequence with Rorschach killing the dogs with a meat cleaver in "The Watchmen" fairly disturbing.
Another one that came to mind was when Red Skull cut out Charles Xavier's brain, during the lead up to the brief time when he stole his telepathic powers.

great list Jules! :)
Great video! you could also include every 6th page of the Max imprint run of Punisher. Man, that comic was gory.
With regards to the Black Canary entry, just to clarify, Ollie shot her attacker with just ONE arrow, one kill shot (which you can see at 7:35), not multiple.
That scene from Avengers #71 is burned in my memory, I was stunned that it got past editorial but also very pleased because Johns treated the reader with a degree of maturity: why wouldn't superpowered people use these powers to bring pleasure to each other? After all, the powers aren't only for stopping enemies. Alas, now that Marvel Comics is only a tool for its parent company to use to make more money, there's very little chance that readers will ever again see that dripping-wet Hank emerge from Jan's nether regions.
That meat mannequin from Preacher.

While the TV show derailed far too long, I love what they did with that in Season 1. They turned it around from shock-disgusting to shock-sadness. They made a huge mistake offing all those great characters to follow the comic. It never recovered.
definatly agree with number 1.
"8 Messed Up Comic Book Moments Everyone Wishes They Could Unsee" If this WhatCulture Comics dared to expand beyond Marvel and DC none of these entries would make it on the list. Anissa from invicible and Crossed series rounds this out to nice round 10 number.
When Wolverine had to kill that innocent teenager who couldn't control his mutant powers... anyone near him would be instantly vaporized.
Really sick of hearing what happened to Nightwing being called sexual assault. It was rape.
alfreid actually gave the all clear signel giving up his life to save gotham.

Here's my personal top ten: 1. Spiderman eating his own Aunt May, after turning into a super-zombie, during "Marvel Zombies." 2. Steve Rogers' Captain America revealing himself to be a Hydra Agent! BETRAYAL!!!!!!! That's one crime that I will NEVER forgive Marvel Comics for committing! 3. The Death of Superman. This event wasn't particular gory, but I was only 11 years old when I read it the first time, and it WRECKED ME, emotionally!! 4. Batman and Batgirl having SEX, on a rooftop, without warning, or explanation. Like, really DC?! REALLY?!!? Could have done without that little scene. Totally inappropriate, if the age difference between the characters wasn't creepy enough! 5. Wolverine getting his entire adamantium skeleton ripped out of his body, by Magneto, during the climax of "Fatal Attractions!" Yeesh!!
