Rip van Winkle also sleeps through the american revolution and wakes up to a world that is obviously vastly different than the one he fell asleep in. Maybe a reference to how the stagecoach takes you from one location to the other, and Arthur sleeps through that

Yesterday I learned that when Arthur is getting on his horse uphill, meaning he has to reach higher, he’ll grunt a little because it’s harder. He doesn’t do this on flat ground or the downhill.

For the last detail, if you aim your gun at the Blue Jay your crosshair is greyed out and you cant shoot it, meaning that it must have a much greater meaning

@@tw--dle Arthur’s animals are eagles and bucks, to me it doesn’t really make sense. Hosea didn’t like killing people and he only kills one guy though out the entire story, which is about 6 months to a year. Blue jays are more passive than eagles so it just makes sense to me that it would be Hosea or someone else in the gang that was close to John, like Sean for example.

I agree! Also in Guarma, there are two green birds that follow Arthur along the rock bridge at the end of the last Guarma mission. I do also believe that the two green birds in Guarma are Hosea and Lenny. Since they died during the Saint Denis bank robbery. Right before Guarma.

A detail you have not covered yet: If gang members or NPCs are reading books and you use your binoculars to look into the opened book -> there is actually readable text! So far whenever I have tried that (e.g. with Dutch in Horshoe overlook sitting at a tree reading or a man on a plateau near the waterfall in the Northeast close to Charlotte's house) the book they read always is one of the sultry romance novels Mary-Beth is reading (I jotted down a few lines from the text I read through the binoculars while peeking over their shoulders and typed it into google -> and always got the text of that romance novel, I believe it was the one taking place in Scotland).

I do that too. also with every letter I see lying around, those handwritten ones, there even is one in the st denis theater...the one on main street. For instance. Or in blackwater at the place where John buys his house...and 100dreds other locations. There's a couple sitting on the ground in different locations in st denis and she reads a book, but it's not what mb reads, I can't remember now but it might even be French.

I did that in the serial killers hideout, surprisingly most of the ones I read were all unique newspaper clippings about all of his murders despite being pretty low resolution, and there are a TON in that cellar. The level of detail is mind blowing.

@@Viennapal Yeah because it's not french it's latin. The papers Lillian leaves on the floor/couch in the Saint Denis bar is in Latin fuck knows how to translate that though. Theyre mostly reused textures.

I did this with the paper the executioner holds during the hanging of colm odriscoll and it’s basically an easter egg. It says “LAST RITES GO HERE” lol P.S. use photo mode to read this stuff its easier

He tells him to “wake up” which is more likely the reference to Rip Van Winkle rather than Arthur giving him it as his name.

Nah cause if you go to Arthur's grave and have high honor , there's a bald eagle sitting on it and you cannot kill it at all, conformed that the eagle is Arthur Morgan , not a blue Jay

A detail I noticed is that when it hits nighttime at the MacFarlane Ranch, most of the horses in the large horse corral move over to where the stables are and lie down to sleep.

I found this really cool, yet simple detail in story mode. If you look at a fire at nigh for a bit then look away, Arthur's eyes will take a couple seconds to adjust to the darkness. Feel free to use this is you want :)

6:53 the suit arthur buys also changes with your honor level, low honor makes it a red suit, hing honor makes it a blue suit

To expound on the blue jay: when Abigail comes back, as Jack runs onto the porch, turns & yells, “Come on”, we can see TWO blue jays sitting on the porch railing. Love the details in this game so much!

I did the Chick Matthews mission once and left my horse kinda in the road. He took off and barely got "so long" out before he ran right into my horse LOL. Never done that mission so quick.

I disagreed about Arthur using the alias Rip van Winkle. It’s not unheard of for someone who is sleeping soundly to be addressed by that name given its literary history. I think it’s at least as plausible that the stagecoach driver is simply literate, even well read and being humorous.

And given that John isn't a well read individual given his disliking of reading, maybe they said that to him once while taking the stage coach and he used it himself in that moment. So it's the reverse of what this video says.

The Blue Jay is Arthur watching them build the house. His color is blue in the game. Opposite of Dutch’s Red. Also, when the men leave Guarma. There are two green birds following Arthur along the rock bridge. I believe the two birds are symbolic of Hosea and Lenny. Since they died during the Saint Denis bank robbery, right before Guarma. Just my opinion but I know it’s correct. You can kinda tell the way they make the birds kind of interact with members of the gang.

Also theres a vulture flying above strauss when youre about to start the first Money Lending mission. Probabbly implying that strauss is a vulture, he preys on the dead or weak and takes them for everything they have even if its just scraps

"Rip Van Winkle" is a short story by the American author Washington Irving, first published in 1819. It follows a Dutch-American villager in colonial America named Rip Van Winkle who meets mysterious Dutchmen, imbibes their liquor and falls asleep in the Catskill Mountains. The way John says Rip Van Winkle, I always get an absolute kick out of it, especially Milton’s reaction hahahahaha

If the Bluejay only shows up if Arthur dies with high honor then it has to be him. Love all the special details in this game. I would never have thought about this at all if it wasn't for your channel. Thank you Strange Man. Oldschool

An additional tip about Chick Matthews. If you get close enough to him when you pull out your gun, you can prevent him from getting on the horse and he'll instead run away on foot. He's much easier to catch that way.

The blue jay symbolizing a change and a fresh start is especially poignant if you're fulfilling the hunting requests. The blue jay is probably close to the last animal you're going to find and kill, which could be symbolic of John losing his chance at that fresh start after all.

Something i discover myself today in rdr2 is that when you take a bath in any city as ARTHUR or JOHN if you look closely the water is not see through , therefore we can conclude that it’s not water in fact it’s MILK , if you shoot at the MILK jars you can see the that the bath water and the milk are the SAME. NEVER DISCOVERED BEFORE .

As a Native American the blue jay symbolizes loyalty to us, or trustworthiness, dependable, even intelligent. The blue jay is greyed out when you aim at it, so makes sense

I found a cool detail.When you do the Bank job at Saint Denis the pinkertons and some gang members wear red shirts inside their suits and hosea javier and Charles wear blue so that's shows the honour of the characters just like how it is woth Arthur. By the way i love your videos

It's been 4 years Strange Man. 4 years, and you're still making this a new game.

I seen a detail where if you shoot your rifle and chamber the next bullet quickly smoke would come out of the chamber, but if you wait like 10 seconds smoke won’t come out of the chamber when you load the next bullet in the rifle because it had cooled off.

I don’t think you are right about that Rip Van Winkle thing at all. It was a well known story written by the same author who created the The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow, Washington Irving, and was equally well known to most people of that time, who will have read the book (or had it read to them) as children. The in-game stage coach drivers always comment on taking a nap during the ride, as a way of acknowledging the passage of in-game time during the journey. As the story of Rip Van Winkle is about a guy who falls asleep for a number of years and who sees the world as it’s changed from his day, it will have been in the zeitgeist of the period Arthur’s story is set in. When John introduces himself as Rip Van Winkle, he’s being sarcastic, not expecting to be believed, any more than you would if you told a cop your name was Darth Vader. He’s simply making it clear that he won’t give his real name to a Pinkerton. The Pinkerton in question knows this and gives a humourless laugh to acknowledge the point. So, Arthur wouldn’t have expected to get away with using the name, any more than you would expect to be believed if you introduced yourself to your Uber Driver as Obiwan Kenobi. Nor would he have any reason to give a false name, or even tell the driver his name. The driver is just referencing a well known character, referring to the fact that Arthur has slept through most of his journey and it’s time to wake up.

I learned this online, depeding on where you shot your target, no matter if its a human or an animal, if you shoot them in the head and pick the up, your clothes wont get bloody, but if you kill them fomr a body shot, youll get bloody. Use this info as you please :)

I recently discovered a detail that you have not covered that is when you have long hair and you ride in the snow for a bit your hair will start turning white and if you have a hat on while this happens if you take ur hat off the rest of ur hair will still be the same color!

Got bored after watching your videos, re started rdr2 from where I left off fairly early in the epilogue. I went to Rhodes just to look around and stopped by the general store. Inside I was caught off guard by being met by Pearson. Thought it was cool and reminded me instantly of you’re videos! Keep up the good work!

One detail I found was at the clemens point camp, you follow Dutch through the camp, and as you do you walk by Micah who is leaned back sharpening his knife. I always thought this was a referral to subtle foreshadowing.

I don't think Arthur introduced himself as Rip Van Winkle I think the driver called him that because Rip Van Winkle is a character from a story of the same name and in that story Rip falls asleep on a hill and wakes up 20 years later in future. Arthur/John will fall asleep in the stagecoach when you fast travel in them and when they wake up time will have past.

Thing with Chick Matthews is, if you bump into him he'll say "I don't know nothing about no debt" and run off on foot and then Arthur will say "I didn't say nothing about no debt. Chick Matthews!" But if you catch him he doesn't have the map on him and you'll have to come back later, or as happened to me once, he'll immediately respawn back at the farm, with him still being hogtied next to the field. It's a bugged quest in that sense.
