Two things on load sheding. The large hospital that I retired from was receiving over $100 K every summer to load shed think it was 3 Mega watts. Would only have to do it for four hours and less then 12 days every summer. We would start 4 natural gas gen sets up and transfer mechanical loads and engineers would start up more boilers and run steam chillers. Of course our boss hated it because he had to pay a hour of two of overtime. While working at a large slaughter house back in the 1970's they sent my chief electrician dad to a load management sales meeting. The owners were hell bent on saving money on their huge electric bill. My dad told them it would not work because every luminare , air compressors, water pumps & ammonia refrigeration compressors had to run from 6:30 AM until late at night after wash downs. They demanded that he come up with a solution so he told them easy just move starting time of kill floor til 6 PM. They had a salesman come in and look over the operation and he told them they could not load shed any loads during production and 6 hours after that.

Thank u you oh for these videos, they bring tons of clarity to a sometimes confusing NEC book.

I don't know how these videos aren't getting 10k views, like how on earth are people keeping up with code? Or do they just not care, and figure the inspector will tell them when they need to start doing something different.

@@ssl3546 Most of the electricians I know still quote code from when they were gophers.

NEC is very careful in language to be milky enough to avoid liability but precise enough to push the liability to the on the persons that install things. That is just the way it is, NEC is not an engineering guide, it is just a specification that is[somewhat] enforceable. As an engineer, some of the things drive me crazy. Why? Yea, I can get sued for and because of code language. Lawyers decide that...on we go..
