737DIYSIM UK

Hello all! Here is a video update on the new home of 737DIYSIM here in the UK. Many projects are on the go as we await our belongings from Brunei. Armed with a single portable camera and mic, I try to e explain why the videos are slow coming. Please let me know if you want to see a particular panel made. Have a fantastic day!

Super nice! I’ve worked home 3D printing small 3D printed models for a few years, one thing I definitely recommend is that you get a Sonic Mini 8K, they are reasonably priced and will produce small buttons and parts that will blow you away. Combined with laser it will look manufactured by a factory. Only one fault, I wish you were into the Airbus A320 😂.

Hello, I just had a quick look on Amazon. I have a few resin printers, but once again they are stuck in shipping. I do not have the funds to go out and buy a replacement yet. But it would have helped me out so much already. And finally, I stay away from A320 as there are already many talented designers out there. It's actually taken over 7 years to get this far!

Not yet, perhaps when my equipment arrives. The best I can do right now with a single printer is just design work. Also big components like the MCP I'm not too sure about. The print times are huge and it was always designed as a DIY project. At best I think I hope to provide laser-etched face panels that will really finish the look of the mcp off. That reminds me, that might be tomorrow's project.

Couple of hints as someone who laser cuts a LOT of acrylic: if you want the 2-color backlit effect the spray paint method doesn’t work particularly well as any solid color is very opaque except for the brightest light, they make 2-layer acrylics for this exact purpose along with 2-color HDPE for milling machine applications (I get mine from inventables (both types) - the x-carve people and you can get various combinations depending on what the end result is) so for my versions of the warning cluster I used the frosted and black reverse (you remove the black from the back - pro-tip remember to reverse the label or it’s backwards) and then the front is completely smooth acrylic. The other tip is CA glues don’t work very reliably on acrylics compared to Weldon-#4 which is a chemical welding agent based on acetone which is best applied after fitting the parts firmly together with a tight joint and then putting a tiny amount on the seam and it will pull in via capillary action. In general I leave for at least 24 hours to get a stable weld. One huge advantage of welding is that it will transmit light efficiently if you’re welding frosted or clear acrylic. If you need to glue acrylic to some other plastic (like PLA then CA glue is OK, although 3D gloop - welding agent for PLA is better).
