@@123fockewolf this isn’t correct, at all. If you were really flying the 73 you’d know that’s it’s capable performing max x-wind takeoff with min control deflection (up to 2units). Full control deflection means flight spoilers deflecting and risk of tail strike increased.

Crosswind was from the left side, I believe he approached in a left crab, and touched down left wing low. Didn’t look at all like maximum demonstrated crosswind for a 737, but it was a crosswind, with gusts as you say.

This looks like 10-15 knots crosswind not more. When you have 30 knots you will have twice more drift angle.

Guys, it's a 737 landing, not a 152. He's probably flying 150 kias. Definitely has a significant crab. If you want to see a 30 degree crab, look up some of those crosswind approaches in the UK, where crosswind is 50 kts. I don't think this is maximum crosswind for the 73, though.
@BoomerKeith1
4 жыл бұрын
Left crosswind, and gusty. Clearly crabbed at the start of the video. Although, I'd say it's more of a gust than cross wind, but even just prior to touchdown you can see that he's still fighting the crosswind.

@@Elnino2910 Its not max crosswind thats fake news! If it was max crosswind the Wheel has to be deflected towards the wind to maintain level or the plane will start to roll to the other side and wingstrike. Im flying the 737 btw
@Elnino2910

@@123fockewolf this isn’t correct, at all. If you were really flying the 73 you’d know that’s it’s capable performing max x-wind takeoff with min control deflection (up to 2units). Full control deflection means flight spoilers deflecting and risk of tail strike increased.
Wow. Even with the difficult time he had keeping the ILS needle's positioned, he still greased it. Absolutely amazing.
Awesome perspective! Would you be okay with me featuring this in my series Weekly Dose of Aviation? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description.

There is no 'hard' windshear warning, just 'windshear' at which point you carefully watch your airspeed and sink rate. Add power as necessary to maintain control or go around and shoot another approach if it doesn't feel right.

What a great footage! Seating on the jumseat during such a landing must have been an exciting experience!
This was so satisfying
"Two martinis to the cockpit, please."
That was a crazy landing. Best crosswind landing video I have ever seen.
That was the most calming airplane video
Wow, nice job. Whether the conditions are good or just inside the envelope, I’m always impressed when the plane announces “50” as you cross the runway threshold.
Nice skills landing like that in that condition Captain. Well done!
Nice job! I've sat jump seat in alot of Dash-8's flying into remote communities with bad crosswinds. Honestly don't know how pilots do what they do sometimes. It's amazing!

Doesn't look like a crosswind landing, no crab into wind, no into wind aileron on roll out. Gusty yes, crosswind no.

Was thinking the same. It's turbulent but not much crosswind. Very impressive nonetheless.
@FOTAP97

Crosswind was from the left side, I believe he approached in a left crab, and touched down left wing low. Didn’t look at all like maximum demonstrated crosswind for a 737, but it was a crosswind, with gusts as you say.
@user-sv2on4dt9m

This looks like 10-15 knots crosswind not more. When you have 30 knots you will have twice more drift angle.
@alaskaeric1038

@BoomerKeith1
4 жыл бұрын
Left crosswind, and gusty. Clearly crabbed at the start of the video. Although, I'd say it's more of a gust than cross wind, but even just prior to touchdown you can see that he's still fighting the crosswind.
Nicely done Mr Pilot Person

v a good idea to have notes on the control wheel - like which way is left , right , up and down and last will and testament if required over the radio
True test of a skilled pilot is how they handle the aircraft when the elements are against them
Nice job keeping the upwind wing down. One of the trickier parts, I'm led to believe, since it gets a lot more air than the downwind wing and wants to keep flying.
Wow that's crazy! Unbelievable skills!!! Solid work by that captain!

I used to fly into Ont CA as a passenger during Santa Ana wind conditions. Those landings can be pretty, pretty, pretty hairy. Sitting in your passenger seat, looking out the window and seeing straight down the runway until the very last second and then bam, hard right and touch down.

Yeeee haaaaaw! Great job Captain!
This was windy and fun to watch but his nose was pretty straight - not that bad of crosswind!
Flipped those landing lights like the boss!! No going around after that 😂 Amazing hand flying though...
That was pretty spot on for a max crosswind landing. Cheers to the CPT.
Very nicely done! It must feel good to call complete na challenging landing! Would have been a fun ride as a passanger too!
No doubt there was a crosswind by looking at the MFD. But 30kts? Surely more of of a crab angle if that was the case? Very bumpy, though that's for sure. Wrestled her all the way down onto the tarmac! Really cool to see.
Very nice one 👍🏻 a demonstration of unbelievable skills
This what an Ace, civil aviator looks like!👏🏻
Great job ! And the 737 can do it with more crosswind too.
Great decent and landing. Love the confidence.
dancing in the wind but it sure looked like a buttery smooth touch down. well done guys
Really good pilot !
Stuck it! Good flying!
Now that was butter in my opinion. Good job Cap!!
Standing ovation to these pilots. That steering wheel was all over the place and the wind was rough but notice he kept that plane straight and landed in the middle of the runway. That is skill and the passengers were safe
Textbook crosswind landing ! 👌 Perfect !
Excellent Landing Cap
That is rough. I remember flying ryanair into athens and it was almost this bad. I thought i was gonna jump out of my seat
The yokes looked like windshield wipers.
That was awesome!
Looks extremely stressful. Thank God for highly skilled pilots.
From an old B737 driver.... GOOD JOB!
I am passionate about airplanes, especially the A380 type giants. Although it seems dangerous, for me it is exciting and thrilling these attacks, especially in times of rain and winds! It is fantastic that these pilots know the exact moment to abort a landing, thinking about safety !! Each of them deserves a hug at each landing! It's just wonderful. Beautiful and exciting images !! Nothing can be more beautiful than seeing these air giants taking off or landing !
Great job sir
I can't be the only one who thought this was from the Flight Simulator X Multiplayer funny guy. I kept waiting and waited to hear "Callsign Sandwich" or see some hot air balloon traveling at 400NTS.
When you was proud that the passengers are clapping for you but it is the sound of the shaking of the instruments

He was workin the yoke like a 150 at a mountain strip. I like how he disconnected the A/T early to counter the gusts.
Good landing! Compared to some Ryan Air pilots who are even not able to land this good without any wind :D ps: flew one time at the jump seat and had a similar wind situation, really heavy to flying at this conditions, cannot imagine it in this video, how much all the axis are moving.. (sorry the English, native Austrian)
Wow! Very impressive.
