Wow these commercials seem so refreshing without overstimulation the senses, unlike today’s commercials. Thanks for sharing!

The eyes of the robot in this video's thumbnail image look like they stare directly into your soul. Sun Giant Raisins- The Raisin Costume that the man is wearing in this commercial looks like it could be one of the most uncomfortable costumes anyone could wear. Van De Kamp's- The fried fish on the plate looks great in this commercial. Often the same can't be said as when you get it out of the package and cook it at home.

Even though I grew up in the 2000s (born in '96), these compilations of earlier decades' commercials are TERRIFIC!! Keep up the grand work! I love it!

That's Bill Saluga AKA Ray Jay Johnson in the Einstein ad! "You can call me Ray, and you can call me Jay... ooohhh. That thing was funny for about 3 seconds."~Krusty The Clown Let's not forget Patton Oswalt's humorous take on the Stella D'oro Breakfast Treats ad! But to me the Playback Robot reminds me of Conky from Pee-Wee's Playhouse!

I’d heard Patton Oswalt’s routine of Stella D'oro Breakfast Treats, but had never seen the commercial before. His recreation of it is crazy accurate.

You could have fooled me with that Robot Playback ad. That thing looks so quintessentially 80's that it's amazing that it came out in the late 70's. Looks sort of like that robot from Pee Wee's Playhouse, actually.

When it comes to the raisins commercial, here is some context from the November 24, 1978 edition of the New York Times: With all of the holiday cakes, cookies and puddings soon to be made for the Christmas season, raisins will be in peak demand. And, as you may have already discovered, those sweet and chewy dried grapes are at record‐high prices this year, $2 per pound now and climbing steadily. Knowing the reason behind the record prices may not make paying less painful, but it might be a small comfort to know that higher profits are not being made at the consumer's expense. The high prices are based on a shortage caused by rain falling in California on the two critical nights of Sept. 4 and 5 - the days the annual crop of raisin grapes was set out on cloths to dry under the sun. If the two rainy days had been followed by sunshine, all would have been saved. Instead, skies were overcast and humidity high for several days after, and the resulting mold wiped out 75 percent of the crop. Virtually all raisin grapes in this country are grown in California's San Joachin Valley and are based on the Thompson seedless grape. This is true even of golden raisins, which are not truly the Sultana variety that they appear to be, but rather the same Thompson grapes dried in dehydrators and treated with sulfur to retain their blond Coloring. As they age, they also darken. Currants, also called for in many holiday recipes and grown in Califor nia, were harvested and dried before most of the rainfall, and only 50 percent of that crop was lost. Currant prices, therefore, rose only slightly. Donald Soetaert. executive vice president of Sun‐Maid, the farmers’ cooperative that is this country's largest raisin packer, says he will have only 20,000 tons of raisins to sell this year instead of the usual 100,000 tons. Since raisins are so expensive, iris good idea to store them carefully. The shelf life of raisins in an unopened box is said to be a year. Once the box is opened, the raisins should be kept in closed container, preferably in the freezer, where they will be safe for many months. The refrigerator is the best alternative if the raisins are kept free of humidity, but after two or three months, they may dry out, a process that in the raisin world is known as “sugaring.” If raisins do harden and become gritty with crystallized sugar, they can be soaked in warm water, brandy or wine until soft, then drained and used in baking or cooking. Raisins kept in open boxes on the shelf are subject to insects. Because of the increase in the price of raisins, proportionate increases are expected in products containing them, such as fruitcakes and breakfast cereals. Editors’ Picks America’s Next Great Restaurants Are in the Suburbs. But Can They Thrive There? Is It Better to Exercise in the Morning or Evening? Sifting Through the Train Thefts of Los Angeles Continue reading the main story It is unusual for raisins to be imported into the United States, because those processed in other countries rarely satisfy United States Government regulations for cleanliness. This year will be an exception, however, and any coming in that are not quite up to standards will be reconditioned by American packers. “There may seem to be some shortage on shelves right now,” Mr. Soetaert said last week, “but we've just made big shipments that will get consumers through the holidays “

0:30--What ever happened to Camay soap? My father used it back then, even though it was marketed primarily towards women. That was because of some skin sensitivity issue that he was dealing with back then. 1:00--I don't seem to remember that Einstein game, but it does look similar to Simon. 2:30--I believe Huffy was considered one of the top bicycle brands back then. It is still around but is now a budget brand. 3:33--Kind of sad to see the Ringling Brothers/Barnum and Bailey Circus shut down a few years ago. 4:25--Gleem toothpaste is still around--sort of. It is now branded as part of the Crest line. 5:25--The background music in the Fiat Strada commercial is Giuseppe Verdi's "Triumphal March," from the opera "Aida." 6:57--I thought Tyco racing sets were pretty cool back in the day. I had one, but it wasn't quite as fancy as this one. 9:00--I loved the tartar sauce packets that came with Van de Kamp's fish back then. You mixed it with water and mayonnaise, and the result was some of the best tartar sauce I've ever eaten. Sure miss that stuff. I almost didn't recognize Natalie Schafer, even though I love "Gilligan's Island." 9:30--Tom Poston, who played Bickley on "Mork and Mindy", George on "Newhart", and appeared in many other great TV shows. 10:00--The unmistakable voice of radio legend Casey Kasem, who also voiced the character Shaggy in the Scooby-Doo cartoons.

Every year there are crops that underperform due to a variety of reasons, which leads to increased prices and shortages. In 2022 the orange crop is on track to be the smallest since 1945: www.wtsp.com/article/news/regional/florida/florida-orange-crop-1945/67-728f4e58-0825-4d79-aefc-1253212b5755
