Its funny 50 years ago I did just the same thing with a Yamaha SRX engine. I was working at a defense plant and we built massive guns for the US Navy. They had a coating that was used on gun slides. I coated them pistons to where they were a press fit, and just as he mentioned it fixed itself. So it has taken the racing world over 40 years to catch up to the military contractors.

I have been in the aerospace industry for decades and been around a lot of coating geeks and the things I have seen over the past 20 years is mind blowing. I would love to be in the high performance automotive side of the sector and watch the technology increase. Oh I order my hoodie too so I hope I’m fortunate enough to get a piston and rod with my order I could definitely make some cool garage art out of it.

These long format videos being chocked full of technical information are a gem, Steve. No other engine designer is going to share their TDP and why they make changes to their designs. Most of the viewers simply enjoy the content while those of us that aren't involved in the racing industry however we do appreciate the empirical side of things having a manufacturing background, albeit in an unrelated industry. And no SME video is complete without a Dewey cameo which always makes our day brighter. We still have some hoodies untouched but why not add a couple more hoodies and a Dewbert shirt so as to ease some of the strain on the Wagon budget? It's a win-win for everyone and we're looking forward to seeing the feedback video on the piston & bearing coating. The piston coating reminds us of the DFL from Cerakote and the exhaust coating reminds us of their piston coating (oven cure) offering. Cheers! Edit: No Dewbert shirt - sold out in our size. Blue SM shirt instead. Cheers!

Line to line is a great product. I was amazed the first time I had them coat a piston and how it helped the engine seal up. Also had them save a dry sump oil pump for a customer that I couldn’t get parts for polished out the the high spots had them coat it. Had more oil pressure than when it was new.

Hell yeah! Absolutely amazing stuff… My brain is running wild like the look on Steve’s face, thinking of all the possibilities of use for the coating lol. First thing I thought before ever hearing it, was roots blower lobes… Self clearancing and never wears out basically… No more Teflon!!! Lol. Tight tolerances on rotor to rotor and rotor to case, with no excess heat build up either… like the Teflon does… Him mentioning the turbo compressor housings… amazing! Can tell that’s happening by the look on Steve’s face lol. Awesome just awesome. Far as the piston redesign goes, I thought immediately of a diesel piston… They have massive ring lands, and an iron reinforced ring grove if they’re aluminum lol. Then there’s absolute insanity with forged steel pistons lol. Due to their cylinder pressure… 👍🤘👏

Dude i laughed so hard when he was explaining the use of this product with turbos, as soon as he said "It moves the boost curve to the left resulting in speed with boost instead of just boost" If you look at Steve's face hes immediately got 25 questions 🤣🤣🤣 Thats a real tuner/Builder.

Missed opportunity of "Mind Blown" text above Steve when Andy was talking about being able to coat the compressor housings of turbos. :)

I had line2line do my pistons after some rings butted and scuffed my pistons. The break in procedure is a little less than straight forward. I'll be pulling my engine apart this winter just to see what is left. I had a very dark oil change but started with .0015 clearance on a tunnel ram big block Mopar. Very good product
