Longer highlights of this one (with apologies for the poor quality source material) which now include the United goal and the George Best tackle that broke Glyn Pardoe's leg.
Note how much of a big deal that a booking used to be.

Well said 123topchef its a pleasure watching these games from the 60's and 70's, exactly what you comment,it was a 'working class' game, not like today's game, corrupted by money and greed.

Its incredible that utd got the free kick. Its clear also that no-one knew how serious the situation was at that moment. But it puts Nani to shame.

This was real football, not fancy but hard core working class game. The fans were able to relate to the players because they came from the same background, and spoke English. EPL? I'll take The First Division, even the Second any day.

You say that booking was a big deal at the time - and it was true; players could get away with a lot more before being booked at that point.

What the f**k is the commentator saying? "accidental collision", "what's that for". Late challenge?, Studs up?, Two feet?

I was there in front of thew Best Pardoe incident - it was bloody obvious what was going to happen - Best with studs up, 10 minutes late and Pardoe with no chance, Best was cynical - ruined pardoe's career, then drank thru his own liver then someone else's, what a waste of a life......

Best went for what is known as a "50/50" Challenge for the ball after losing control of the ball which he would not have done a couple of years before . Two players going for a loose ball . As it was a sliding tackle . Best was definitely going for the ball , Jeffries , the City player, who body checked Dennis law most definitely was not going for the ball!

I was at that game and it was obvious that Best was never going to get that ball, but it didn't stop him diving into the tackle. He should have been sent off, not just booked.
