City fan for nearly 50 year - season ticket in the kippax from the 80's - and we were shocking at times! BUT we had some great times along the way too - at the old Wembley against Gillingham - we all went from the pit of despair to out of our minds when Horlock and Dickov scored.... (the same sort of feeling when Aguero scored vs QPR believe it or not) I look at the team now and what they are doing and I'm just amazed at how far they have come. Mind you I still look for 40 points before I can relax even now - old habits die hard ha ha Yeah we've got a load of "new" fans since the team became successful but there's still a load of 'miserable mancs' ( battered by years of disppointment) like myself supporting them still - we've even cheered up a bit since winning the league!

At the age of 4 my older brother took me,we walked from our house. It was a 30 min walk. I'll never forget it,walking up concrete steps to the top of the kippax and seeing the pitch, the noise building up,the kippax roar. I was hooked. It was old school, tough gritty, down to earth. It had it's own social club, lol where players came in after a game. The souvenir shop could handle 10 people max, unlike the mcfc souvenir supermarket now. A great community club.

I went to maine rd every sat in the 80s , every stand was different , like a patch work quilt but the atmosphere was incredible. I always sat on the liw wall at the front of the Kippax . One year when we were having a terrible season my brother in law took a megaphone in , and when we were losing at home again , shouted to Helen with the bell " if you carry on ringing that bell , ill come over and shove it up your arse " . What memories.

Of the 37 years I've supported City that was the most deflated I'd ever felt when we drew 2-2 with Liverpool in 96 and went down on goal difference. Then the best was the 2012 (just eclipses the 99 play off final) when we won the league for the first time in 44 years and pipping the rags on goal difference in the manner it was done, only city could have done it, And the 5-1 as a 13 year old on September the 23rd 1989 my first Manchester Derby what a day!!!

Miss Maine Road so much, the Kippax was the biggest "end" in football... The full length of the pitch!... Total respect to the Gallagher brothers who stuck with City when it was fashionable to say your a utd fan!... Quality people😁👍

It was actually considered cool to be a City fan. I remember being on holiday several times with my dad, other Brits would get chatting in a bar and when he said we were from Manchester, they’d ask which side, when he said blue, their faces lit up and they’d want to be your mate. Think people appreciated the choice of being a City fan. We had an entire bar in Spain supporting us vs Arsenal once in the early 2000s.

@@tomben6180 I suppose once you start dominating other fans grow to dislike you and considering how much we've won it's crazy that opposing fans always want us to win when we play liverpool or utd... I think it says more about everyone's hatred for Liverpool and utd rather than love for City but it always makes me smile😁
