They do have some trails/sidewalks, but we were more thinking the “walk to the grocery store, walk to restaurants” type of walkable area.

Fontanelle and reunion have good newly build houses but very very expensive. Look in gluckstadt, not very old houses and reasonably priced.

Madison needs a sports complex with SOME turf field, not all turf. Youth athletics lag behind other cities that do have turf & sports complex during wet/extreme heat or cold periods. Currently, public park areas are not as large as recommended to support the population of city.

For the turf and field, you do have the Madison healthplex. And I’m not sure how many parks they need. You have some great parks in Madison. And Liberty park is huge. Do you live in Madison?

The worst thing about living in Madison is that it’s close to Jackson, and it’s in the deep south which means it’s hot as hell ten months of the year. Walkable community? Who cares, who’s trying to walk anywhere? Again, hot all the time. Omg, you guys are nuts talking about public transportation, and traffic (Dallas has traffic), and thank god mayor Mary has said no apartments in the city limits (Ridgeland has apartments, and all that goes with them).

A lot of people ask us about walkable areas, typically referring to a community where its a short walk to groceries, shops, restaurants, parks, etc. Public transportation also comes up for people coming from bigger cities who just arent used to having to drive everywhere. I personally prefer to drive vs public, but some of the walkable areas i've seen in some other cities are nice. AND it is not hot 10 months out of the year 😂. Its really hot 2-3 months, I actually like it most of the year.

@@ShadeIsLikely I'm telling you no such thing. It is hot now, but its not hot 10 months out of the year. Its already cooler, and in another month it won't really be hot at all. Have you always lived here or are you from somewhere up north? 80 Degrees aint hot lol

@@LivingInJackson Born and raised right here in this swamp…58 years now. And there’s about two, maybe three months out of the year that you can walk out the door and not be sticky and wet by the time you get the kids strapped into their car seats. I went to college in TN and graduate school in AR. They have nice weather, cool every night, much lower humidity, usually a little snow but nothing severe. But as my grandmother used to say, “yes, there are better places than here, but you’ve got to grow where you are planted”. And I have, quite nicely in fact. But when I retire in a couple of years I’m going back to TN…Knoxville most likely.
