Hearing that it’s hard for other people to get out of bed, but they just make themselves is really lifechanging advice for me. I think I was under the impression that morning people enjoyed getting up early. It puts me in the mindset that if other people can force themselves to get up, I can too

I agree. I taught junior high, high school, adult education, in a maximum security men's prison, and college for 43 years. I did a lot of free tutoring and still do some. Last week, one of my former students contacted me to go to dinner. She was in tears thanking me for helping her through college 7 years ago. She also contacted my favorite professor and got him to write a short message in the book he had authored. I had given her the book to use for class, and I had forgotten about it. She said she would be forever grateful to me for my kindness and patience. My dad always told us that God created each of us to help our fellow man (woman). That's what brings me joy.

I have to tell you my favorite pay it forward moment. I had the day off so I set about my errands, grocery shopping was on the list so I'm standing at the check out with a basket full. I looked behind me and there was a guy with like 3 or 4 things in his hands, I asked him Is that all you have? I then told him he could go before me. He kind of looked surprised and said thank you. After he checked out and payed he turned and said thank you, you just saved my entire day, my son has a field trip at school and I forgot his lunch. You are right Kallie, I felt so good about that small little gesture that didn't take any time away from my day but was very important to that person. I am a relatively new Sub and I am loving your channel, thank you.

A while back a very close friend sent me a small poster that that noted many things that will improve yourself, your life, and the lives of others. One thing mentioned was to pay it forward. Now, I have always tried to do this but now I really try to do something kind for someone every day. I keep the poster by my bed and look at it frequently. Where did my friend get the poster? It was the back of a cereal box!

I think the 7th tweak could fall into a “create a cut off time for caffeine”. I did a fitbit sleeping challenge and one of the tips was choosing a time to cut caffeine (2pm, 3, 4) I used 3 or 330. I finished the challenge two years ago but I realized it helped me fall asleep easier cutting it off early. I’ve noticed that I’m still mindful when 3 comes around to pour or finish my last cup to be done at 330

Kallie, I started meal planning last fall, and I can’t even explain how freeing this little action is, to my everyday life. Also, I will be 70 in a few months, and during those years inclusive of the 33 years I worked outside the house, I have never once hit my snooze button🤗. Thank you for the suggestions.

I am definitely a night owl and definitely hit the snooze more times that I could count throughout my life and working career (43 years). I am 71 and retired and finally feel normal being able to sleep late. I do need to adjust my sleep schedule though.

Hitting snooze was a BIG one for me! For so long I hit it, mostly because I didn’t want to face the day and my bed felt safe. I would fall back asleep and get reawakened. I truly could feel the effect it had on my energy levels the rest of the by making me feel so groggy. But once I simply had to start by every morning when my alarm went off … just pushed through the HUGE temptation to crawl back in and that’s when the change came !!! My mornings are soooo much more enjoyable and I’ve learned to conquer the day first try… not feeling like I can’t. Love all your vids and inspiration Kali !!!

I live in Portlandia, so I can’t/won’t give up coffee, but I definitely focus on living out the Golden Rule. Every little chance I get, I help others, even if it’s only to give a haggard store clerk a smile. I remember being so down years ago, that a smile from a stranger felt precious, and I cherished them.

OMG I am so with you. Your rythm influences the rhythm of your kids, so you are teaching them on the go. I go to bed between 8 pm and 8:30 pm every day, even on weekends. No matter what. I turn of the episode right in the middle if necessary. I listen to an audio book, the end is programmed. Every morning I wake at 3:45. The alarm starts at 4 am. My dog has the same rhythm. When there is an exception to the rule, when I am sick for example, at home and in bed the whole day, my dog goes crazy - and I go crazy, too. This helps me so much.

Hey there🙋🏼‍♀️, I use a clock radio for my wake-up alarm. It’s going to take a minute to discover the station that consistently plays zen, calm wake up music but it makes a huge difference and I usually did not want to press snooze because of the great music. The other plus is your device should be off, and you have now successfully been device free for at least 8 hours and hopefully you can get through the breakfast rush without turning it on. That’s a beautiful thing ☮️💟🪴

I already do most of these things, thankfully! Working from home on devices for a good portion of last year made me realize how much I did NOT want to be on my devices. With going back to college and working full time, I get plenty of computer time. I have fallen into that bad habit again and need to stop. With nearly grown sons going every direction, I make sure I am intentional in the time we do have together. Extended family dynamics have changed, so making those a priority when possible is important, too. So little time and so much to do! I am trying to get back into the habit of doing the dishes every night and hoping that spills over into other areas, too. This time change has not been kind either. I am ready for spring!

I’m way more productive when I’m fully rested. I naturally sleep from 12 to 8am, wake up naturally and refreshed, no alarm, no feeling tired, no wanting to sleep in more. If you’re getting enough sleep, you shouldn’t be feeling tired when you wake up. And I’m with you about coffee - never giving it up. I stick to 2 cups before noon, but would never even think about changing that. A HARD NO.

I’ve been binging your videos lately and find them incredibly helpful. One thing that really got me was the “not going to bed with a dirty kitchen” one cuz that was my biggest setback every single morning. These are all great tips but I admit when you got to the 7th all I could think was *HAHAHAHAHA no.*

Such great tips! I implement most of them! As a mom of 5, my life is lived to a soundtrack! I've got music playing as I wake up folks, cook, clean, sit in carpool lane, etc.. I do use the snooze (with phone across the room) but not necessarily to go back to sleep just to help wake slowly...not a fan of waking up and just jumping up and going so I have (2) 5 minute snoozes, the first to just wiggle my toes, stretch...the second is to think about what I'm doing that day as I make my bed and head to the bathroom! I usually stay off my phone for first hour of the day, excluding music app, unless I hear a notification! It's a hard no for me too on getting rid of my coffee😉🤣🤣🤷🏾‍♀️❤🙏🏾

This probably one of the best and most helpful videos I’ve seen on this topic. So hilarious. When you mentioned at the end about switching to tea… at that moment o completely changed my mind about this video and then when you said you were kidding I decided I loved you so much. 🤣😂 Such a Rollercoaster in just one second! Thanks for the vid.

I love your videos! I especially loved the last tweak. 🤣🤣 I do need to have a set bedtime. I’m retired so I’ve just been going to bed when I feel like it but most the time wake up early so I only get about 5-6 hours maybe. I feel horrible in the mornings. I’m one with migraines, sinus issues, a few other health related things so it’s really hard when I don’t get enough sleep. I love music! I should have thought of that back when I had my kids. I listen to music all the time. My biggest problem at night is scrolling on my phone. Ugh! I need to leave it in another room or something but I don’t. 😩

I cracked me up to see the look on your dog’s face when you were dancing with your daughter. He/she looked like a teenager who was mortified by his parents - believe me, my teen gives me that look quite often, which makes me only want to do it more. Share the playlist if you get a chance - music does lift you up. I listen to the same song every morning while making my bed. It’s made a mundane/hated chore quite enjoyable. Great tweaks! ~ Linda

Kallie, I wanted to recommend the book, "Go Together" by Shola Richards too. He talks all about Ubuntu as well and it's such a real interpretation of why "I am because we are" means so very much! Love your content, you're amazing!

I added the following tweak: an hour before I go to sleep I stop scrolling social media. I still use my iPad to read eBooks, but it’s on do not disturb so I don’t get notifications. I started this when I looking at social media became doom scrolling 5 years ago, and them couldn’t sleep well becauseI was so enraged. My sleep has improved dramatically since I instituted the 1 hour before bedtime rule.

Love love your channel!! So good.. so much GREAT information..even if it does not pertain to me (ie: babies-mine are grown🥳) I watch every one. Enjoy so much! Wonder if you could do a video on your journey from vegetarian to non? I would be so interested to see your motivation. I have been vegan for 20 years and recently changed…so I’m curious about your evolution. Thanks for a great video!!
