Chestita Baba Marta na teb (i na vsichki v Bulgaria)! Yes we did see and took part in the nestinarki ritual, we didn't get burnt thankfully. We have not seen the Rojen Festival but would like to. Rakia is very potent!

Really appreciate and cherish your respect towards Bulgarian culture and traditions. On the 14th February we usually do not celebrate Valenetine's day it is called Trifon Zarezan and wine is drunk. LOL yes we have many "special days". Flower day is related to females names related to flowers e.g. Rosa, Tsvetelina, Margarita or male names related to trees such Yavor (maple tree). In Bulgaria we are "obsessed" with history LOL, don't forget that we just between the East and West. We are the only European country that has not changed its name. But in this video, you forgot one the most important days: 24th May when we celebrate our alphabet because Bulgaria is where it was invented and we gave it to the Russians. Modern Bulgaria was officially created in 681, because it is considered that our ancestors are the Proto Bulgars that originated from Asia. This is also why we do not look so "Slavic" as Polish people for example and we have a mix with the Turks, obviously you have the gypsies just like in Andalusia in Spain. In Sofia the capital, you will see an Ottoman mosque, a synagogue (3rd largest in Europe after Amsterdam and Budapest), a very old Orthodox church and a newer Catholic one all within literally a 10min walk. Obviously, the rose is one of our official symbols for obvious reasons because we are the largest I think rose oil producer in the world and very proud of our sour milk and not Greek yoghurt as they taste different and we use it quite a lot in our food. Go to the Kazanlak Rose Festival in May if you can, it is also very cool. In BG, you have an abundance of traditions. Finally, would like to add Nikulden (St. Nicholas Day) 6th December also in honour of the fishermen and usually fish is eaten even though fish is logically consumed more on the Black Sea, but not really present in the diet such as pork, beef and chicken. And Giergiovden (Saint George's Day) - 6th May and also known as Shephard's day and usually lamb is consumed with rakia or wine, etc but also the day of our army so it is also a very important tradition. The list is really long and guess what, we are also very interested in British history. If you have 3 minutes, check our the DJ89 Narod traditional song, I think you will like it a lot. Just search it on KZread, it really reflects what Bulgaria is and enjoyed by many Slavic people.

We really appreciate your input especially taking the time to teach us about Bulgarian traditions and culture. We love being included in your celebrations, they are so interesting and when the villagers act out plays and sing from the heart, and dance, we feel very proud and honoured to be able to take part. The other celebrations you mention we have also celebrated those. 6th December is Nikki's name day and also her birthday so we don't forget that day easily. Thank you for the suggestion of the DJ89 Narod traditonal song; we have heard many traditional Bulgarian songs but not heard this one before and as with the others we know, it is very beautiful.

@@NewBulgarians Oh wow, what a coincidence for Nikki haha. Usually in Bulgarian it is Nikoleta, but shortened to Neli. You are always most welcome and for us when we have so positive and cherish our culture for us it is an honour as well. Finally, suggest the absolute must of the Kaval Sviri song, which you MUST hear again search it and this represents our ancient Women Choir and has millions of views. If you know the Ghost in the Shell American movie, well the music is from there. Similar to Britain, we also use the bagpipe songs, which are also very important. Regarding Easter, you MUST try kozunak which is sweet Eastern bread with raisins sometimes, which is brutally tasty but VERY caloric hahah. Nazdrave basically means to your health or chin-chin basically. Zdrave in Bulgarian means health, but this is really a very common Slavic from Russia all the way to Bulgaria, Poland, etc. Again, have a peaceful life and enjoy your garden or mountain if you have one. Enjoy the 4 seasons. It will very soon be Baba Marta and very green all over. The roses, lavander and sunflower fields will be fertile again. Finally, very proud of our hymn because it is really extremely powerful and without sounding too patriotic considered to be one of the best in the world. We are also obsessed (especially women) with zodiac signs and have strange superstions and immediately begin profiling a person based on their zodiac sign. We are also a bit obsessed with our flag and put it almost everywhere even in the public transport sometimes LOL Mate, Bulgaria is just crazy.

Thank you so much - we've tried the sweet bread (dipped in honey) very delicious. This is our favourite time of year when everything comes alive again. The Kaval Sviri song is beautiful, thank you.@@kosmicheskiprah
