Luke didn't mourn his adoptive parents (his aunt and uncle) in ANH but saw it as an opportunity to get off Tattooine. Anakin got more cut up about his mother dying that he killed a while tribe of Sandpeople. Luke was like, "oh well, now Ben, can we get of this godforsaken planet". Luke is a bit of a sociopath at times so him not mourning for Han isn't totally unrealistic.

I never understood why shooting someone who has a gun pointed at you and clearly wants to kill you before they shoot you would be considered cold blooded. Instead IMO its the only thing anyone with a working brain who lacked a death wish would do under the circumstances. And its been a while since I watched any John Wayne movies but I'm pretty sure his characters sometimes shot people who were about to shoot them but hadn't pulled the trigger yet.

@@STSWB5SG1FAN But even in the quickdraw duels that are common in western movies the duelists aren't supposed to wait for the other guy to shoot first. The whole point is trying to get an accurate shot off before the opponent can fire.

Star Wars jumped the shark after the first trilogy. And hell, even those first three films were screwed over by Luca's film re-edits later on.

The rise of Skywalker was a disaster because it had damage from an entire movie, TLJ, to repair. Kathleen Kennedy is an idiot for 1 million reasons. JJ Abrams is an idiot for leaving the storyline in the hands of Kathleen Kennedy and another Director. And of course Rian Johnson is the supreme d0uche bag of the 21st-century.

The scene at Tosche Station REALLY should have stayed.

Deleting the scene showing Luke morning Han is just another example of how these people do not know what FANS want or they just don't care

How to fix the sequel trilogy: get rid of it all.

I know I'm going to anger a bunch of "Han shot first" people in the comments here, but let me just say that to those who actually read Greedo's dialogue in the original version, Han shooting Greedo was always done in self-defense: Greedo literally stated his intent to kill Han moments before Han shot. The original version simply showcased Han firing a preemptive shot, where the later versions simply show that "stormtrooper syndrome" applies to more than just stormtroopers.

Why would your common anger, “Han shot first?” people? Of course, Han shot Greedo in self-defense. Anybody who thinks that shooting first isn’t self-defense is a fool who does not understand gun-fighting in the slightest. You MUST shoot first or you die, especially at that range. Greedo was literally pointing a gun at him and threatening to kill Han. Lucas‘s reasoning is patently absurd.

Films 7,8,9 where just one giant pacing issue, those never should have been made without a outline for all three films already being set in stone,and scripts being written around that outline, instead of what they did.

It's 3 different timelines. In TFA we see what leads to Rey Palpatine - she regrets her actions, and goes back in time to fix it. In TLJ, Kylo gets her on the wrong foot, convincing her that Rey From Nowhere is a real person, and that's who she is, she is eaten/merges with Dark Rey and destroys the Universe In ROS, Rey Palpatine has mixed so much stupid into her story, that they both wish for the Emperor to somehow return - Kylo to kill her, Rey to become the hero by killing the Emperor. In the end Rey Palpatine ask her: "Who are you (this time)?" That's the Skywalker Timeline, that allows the story to continue.

You said exactly what I was thinking. If they had had a cohesive general outline, things would have been a lot better in the sequels. Instead, we wound up getting a bunch of "WTF" tossed at us, and a lot of people (rightfully) hating the sequel trilogy. For me it was a huge disappointment.

3PO probably would've short circuited when he proclaimed "Thank the Maker" IF he actually knew who his 'maker' became......

Disney killed Star Wars. That is all.

The Disney star wars stuff sux. Got nothing to do with the actors. They do the best they can with the turd sandwich of a script. Luke's scenes were dropped when someone else recut and saved the plot of episode err.. 1 or 4... biggs "yeah.. stories" was originally on the cutting room floor, and it was awkward.. at least it made his death make sense. Originally, with people dying all around him, Luke was particularly shaken by biggs which was quite confusing. Creating continuity there was always going to be a problem as I believe the 1977 cut was the right call

I find it impossible to believe that Kathleen Kennedy would allow any scenes that contribute to DEI to be cut due to any perception of "fan backlash" or online trolling - no matter how bad. If there's one thing I've learned since Disney took over, it's that they have their ideals that they wish to push forward, and they have zero intention of listening to the fans, or anybody else who might not agree with them, even if it dooms the project from inception. Case in point, Star Wars Acolyte.

Pacing is actually key in movies. It's called narrative and is far better than the current tendency towards stringing 2hrs worth of Tik Tok moments together in the hope of a few memes.

There were furry dice hanging from the car Harrison Ford drove in American graffiti. In attack of the clones Obi Wan goes to see his friend Dex who owns a diner with a droid waitress on wheels. In the DVD commentary Lucas said that was his tribute to American graffiti

Why are people happy to cheer Han if he is a cold blooded murderer? The good guys aren't meant to kill unprovoked.

ANH had other deleted scenes removed while it was in theaters. When the stormtroopers call to close the blast doors, and our heroes jump thru at the last moment, troopers ran up to them calling to open the blast doors. The last part was removed because audiences chuckled at the empires frustration. And Lucas didn't want something light hearted during the fight in the death Star.

My favourite sequel trilogy character was 'Endo Credits'.

Considering that the entire gameplay style of smuggler in star wars the old republic went along the line that smugglers hated fair battles so they preferred to shoot first, George Lucas was dumb to change the cantina scene to allow Greedo a lucky potshot at killing Han solo. In fact, he was foolish on a number of other occasions, mostly on the seaquels, where he allowed JAR-JAR Abrams to mess the episodes up royally, as well as that woman "dictator" that had the entire feminist power concept behind Ray and all the new female cast ruin the OG characters by killing them off and the so called fan service they did in the very last one of the episodes with that Karen ramming the rebel flagship into the imperial fleet after having the fleet decimated by the imperial plot armor of rebel fleet being out of fuel.

I personally didn't care for Rose's character or storyline. Nothing to do with race or sex...just didn't find the character interesting. Donnie Yen's character and brother in Rogue One were very good. Hate how if you don't support some characters, it's automatically racism or sexism. Rose's star wars figurine was the most represented at the bargain bin. Just goes to show the character was not that likeable-it had nothing to do with ethnicity or gender.

While deleting the "American Graffiti" because someone teased Lucas about it would be a stupid reason, another reason might be, the scene would have messed up the pacing of the film, and would have left the audience confused. Instead, we are following the two droids, and in that context, meeting Luke when the droids meet him makes a lot more sense. In the dinner scene we establish that Luke is a farm boy (who ever once says "As you wish") who longs for adventure outside the farm of his guardians. The scene would not have added anything to the movie.

Favorite sequel trilogy character: Yoda

Don't know about underwear, but paper and spectacles are extremely crude technologies. Given the prosthetic hand, why wouldn't you expect medical science to preserve everyone's eyesight?

Best sequel character is Poe

The "Han shot first" could have easily justified by changing Greedo's dialog to something like "You are going to die now. Any last words?". That or something where Greedo assures Han that he is going to be killed. It is pretty simple really, and makes more sense that dodging a beam from a blaster

There were other reasons these scenes probably got cut if you think about it, other than those stupid reasons. 7. Disney were terrified people would think ep 9 horrible right off the bat if they saw Rose in it too much. 6. This is already the slowest star wars movie to begin, so having more talking would just slow it down more. 3. People can't lose limbs in a Disney movie. Also having Phasma die, then get back up again, only to die again does feel clunky. 1. In the final release of the film, Luke says "Where's Han". And they cut straight to Kylo Ren for the first time in the movie. When I first saw this scene, it sent a shiver down my spine. The mourning, like a lot of these scenes, is a good scene, but they didn't have room for it (That's why Ren is my favourite sequel character, even with the bad lightsaber duels and wishy-washy villainy. I also liked the whole dyad concept with him too.😊)

Even worse than deleted scenes are the scenes that were pointlessly added to the original Star Wars, Empire, and Return of the Jedi. Namely, the horrendous scene with Jabba and Han "my boy", and the ending of ROTJ with the horrible music replacing the Ewok celebration song and images of people celebrating around the galaxy. Unforgivable. I will only let my kids watch 1995 release of those films.

Rogue One is the *only* decent Disney made Star Wars movie. The rest? They should have had a more cohesive storyline that was outlined before they started filming Episode VII. Instead, we got a ton of garbage that did not really make any sense after TFA.

I thought Rose Tico's role was cut in Episode IX because the Chinese audience and censors didn't like her kissing Finn in Episode VIII?

Personally... and I'll admit, this is probably an unpopular opinion... I always thought that Greedo shooting first made Han look more like a total badass. Please allow me to explain... Despite the fact that Greedo initially got the drop on Solo, he still stayed calm and in control throughout the entire scene. And the fact that Greedo didn't just shoot Han's heart out through his back at the moment he had the chance showed Han that Greedo wanted him alive. Worse for Greedo, Han just sits back down with his left hand raised and his right hand in the very last place Greedo should want it to be; right next to his blaster. This shows that either Greedo is a rookie at bounty hunting... or that he's clearly a moron for not making sure that both of Han's hands are where he could see them. So, let's put ourselves in Greedo's shoes for a moment. You have your target right where you want him and are feeling incredibly pleased with yourself. But he's stealing your thunder by just looking at you like you're just another annoyance that the Force, or whatever powers-that-be put in his way. You want to wipe that nonchalant look off of his face. But you can't just kill him, because if you do, there goes your big bounty. So what do you do? What can you do to try to get him to show you some respect? Warning shot. I figured that Greedo's shot was a last ditch attempt to intimidate Han. However, unfortunately for Greedo, in his inexperienced and moronic stupidity, Han knew that Greedo wouldn't kill him and had already prepared his response.

Moreover, it's a thematic choice to show that technology has been so advanced for so long that paper is virtually non-existent. Not unlike the telegraph or the gramophone.

People did not hate Tran, they hated the character and the whole story arc she anchored. It was not personal, it was just we wanted a good story.

Rose isn't hated cause she's Asian. It's because she's a horrible character that added nothing to Ep 8. She was cut from Ep 9 cause Disney finally realized this and was trying to save face with its fanbase.

Episode 8 was dumb in general. I don't know if I really have a favorite character in the sequel trilogy. I guess Kylo-Ren. TRAITOR! 5:29 Anthony Daniels was behind him? Han Solo did shoot first. 7:39 I wanted to see her without the helmet. You don't really get that in the movie. I think there are photos of her without it but not in the movie. 8:55 Is that her without the helmet? Where's her suit? 9:33 I wish that was in the movie.

Please don't try to link Han Solo and John Wayne. John Wayne refused to fight the Nazis. But said people who refused to fight in Vietnam should be sent to prison. There is a word for that, and I already used it in this statement.

“Who is your favourite sequel trilogy character?” NONE OF THEM!!!! THE DISNEY ERA OF STAR WARS SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED!!!!!! This may be just my opinion but I think that OG fans are getting angrier and angrier with every project now being released. Star Wars has become one of those franchises that were awesome back in the day but now should just stop and that makes me sad.

Rose is an annoying character. Whether it’s the writing or the actress. She is not good. That is not about race. That’s just her being a bad character. Same for Finn and even Rey and Kylo Ren.

The only good character in the sequels is pow damron. The rest of the characters had shit writing

I liked Finn as I like his backstory of being a trooper who defects. I think it would have made a good TV series.
