I'm 71 and my experience with food banks is that they pay NO ATTENTION to client's medical requirements! I can't tell you how many times I have told them I am Diabetic, only to receive a bag full of sugary cereals, cookies, candy, etc. I don't have an oven either and they give me frozen chicken and other things I can't cook. When I try to give these things back to help other beneficiaries, the food bank refuses to take them!

Once they give it out they will not take it back! But I agree with you - the volunteers at these food banks. They're only interested in giving out the food they collect etc..etc..

Air fryers and crockpots are wonderful for frozen chicken. I’m afraid that 90% of the food that food banks give is donated. They don’t actually buy it so they don’t actually have much choice. I think you can refuse it at the time you pick it up. I know it’s so frustrating.

I don’t have an air fryer or crock pot. My only convenience is a microwave. My electric bills are so high, I avoid using energy as much as possible.

@@ellennewth6305crackpots are less than $20 & use almost no power.
when I was working part time, I was getting amost $200 in EBT benefits. Now that I am on SSDI, I am only getting $20. Personally, I think that is a slap in the face.

Yes, that's the difference between earned, and, unearned income.

You might want to double check when I first got on. They were giving me a ridiculously low amount. I didn’t know it was wrong for several months until I got a new caseworker and she made the corrections. They should also be deducting your rent and utilities might be worth checking up on it.

You have to look at the total income. If your disability gives you MORE than you earned when you were only working PT, then it follows they will reduce the snap benefit, as that is needs based. Needs based means your inome. Or was an error made and you are NOT getting more monthly income but they reduced your snap?

In California, SSDI folks were categorically ineligible for food stamps until the summer of 2019. Mercifully, a Social Security worker informed me of the change in February of 2020. I was able to get on them right before the pandemic maximum benefits amount kicked in. GRATEFUL!

Oh, and be sure to submit any out-of-pocket medical bills. If you have more than $35 of them per month, you can have $120 taken off your countable income.
I would shop more at my local farmers markets, but have you seen the prices of those fresh foods!? WOW.
@DebLindley-xg8gz

Have you ever tried talking them down in price? Just asking. It's what I do at Farmer's Markets and Grocery Stores. It works every time. They still make money and don't have to take the products back home with them.

This can be hinted at, too, by asking them if they have any seconds (slighty damaged or marred vegetables) they could sell at a lower price. This has often worked for me.
Very informative but pretty hard to stretch 38 dollars

I have been watching you for a long time. I have found that almost always there is a catch to all the programs you talk about. This all sounds good but there is always a catch. You should mention the catch before people get their hopes up.

I think snap should include paper goods. They are sooo expensive and are an essential too!

Most is processed, high sodium, and outright fake foods. Just like hospitals serve, food that is no good. They don't want us alive, let alone healthy. There's no profit there.

@@fitfighter24 I did that and still returned the same results. I made sure to not have a mortgage when I retired so that REALLY played against me in this matter of SNAP benefits even though a little more than 1/2 of my income goes to property taxes and other fixed expenses.
Thanks so Much Nicole Love your Channel ❤
Thank you Nicole for that information,, but I have a question. I am disabled and unable to leave my home, so these deals might sound good but I'm unable to make use of them. I was wondering is there something that disabled people can benefit from these wonderful deals also thank you so much you and the team are amazing. Kudos to you all.

Ty as always!
Thank you iam so great full for your help. Blessings
Nicole you should know about the food banks and the food pantries. They give us old food. Expired food. Rotten food. As for snap add, you have to be a certain age to be able to do that, and many older people don't qualify until you're over 62.
Thank you, Nicole for the information.😊
TY!💙

Another problem with shopping online with EBT funds; When your EBT card gets down to $25 or $30. Dollars, you are unable to order anything online because these stores have a minimum -- usually anywhere from $35 to $50 otherwise they will make you pay for delivery and not many people on Social Security even has money at the end of the month, like myself.
Hi! Nicole, Do I Just Need To Go To Sight Income Relief For All The Web Addresses & Any Other Information You Have??? Also I Have The Texas Simplified Paper Work, I'm Not Sure Why They Want Me To Go Through A New Application?? I Thought I Did Everything Correct, I Sent Them My Housing Information Like They Asked For, I'm Not Sure Maybe It Was My Writing?? I Don't Know, But I Got It I Think Monday?? So I Will Try Really Hard To Get In The Mail Tommrow!! It's Can Be Very Frustrating When They Send Paper Work & No Letter To Explain What Mistake We Made Or What We Have Over Looked!! Thanks For All The Hard Work You & Team Put Into Income Relief!! 💞 Marcia Dove 💞
