    If you want to bomb hills, put softer bushings on the road side of the hanger and harder on the deck side. You want your back end to be slightly softer than your front truck. This can help reduce speed wobbles in general because you will have more control of your backend. Ideally you would have a lower angle baseplate in the back, but this should help you hit hills.

Started skateboarding pools/parks&ramps in the mid-70s then stopped after high school until taking an interest in longboarding recently and I replaced the old 1970's Tracker Mid-Track trucks and green Kryptonic 70mm pool/park wheels on my 1977 Alva Original #1 with 180mm Paris V3's and Blood Orange Liam Morgan 65mm 80A wheels. • @kanebenjamin497

    @kanebenjamin497

    3 жыл бұрын

    When you’re tightening your kingpin, as a general rule of thumb, screw down to where the kingpin nut is flush with the top of the kingpin. See if there’s play in your trucks, and if there is, screw down 1/2 rotation, and see if there’s play again. Once the trucks have no play, you’ll be good to go. This is not a rule of thumb, but when I reassemble my trucks I can usually see 1-3 threads of the kingpin depending on my setup.

    It’s a sick deck. Low to the ground, flexy, nice wheel cutouts that prevent wheel bite, and perfect for going distances. Similar decks would be the Quest and the Wanderlust (not sure if he has these in production). But the Ember is a solid deck for pushing. Note: it is not a deck you should ride on hills.

    I've been skateboarding since the '70's and I knew that gum rubber was good for cleaning sand paper but I never thought to use it on griptape. Shoe soles are made of gum rubber sometimes which is what I always used. Second hand stores are a good place to find those. I also love the wax on the urethane parts of the truck suggestion.

    As for the paraffin / wax / soap application to counter pivot cup squeaking, there's also a graphite pencil core dust alternative to substitute, which is less greasy (thus, easier to clean), however also lasting less.

    Graphite spray lubrication (used for key holes in locks) is great for the bushings and truck parts too. It can get messy so use it outside over something you don't want a black stain on if a drip occurs. The bad thing about wax is that it will invite dirt and grime to accumulate in those areas, whereas once applied the graphite spray is dry and not sticky, so less chance of accruing dirt in those areas. Great video as always, keep em coming. I enjoy your laid back review style. You and your crew should do some videos of just skating too. Cruising, carving, antics, whatnot. Like the snowskate video, that was fun to watch. Thanks for putting out useful and entertaining content, keep it up!

    All right question here from a guy who wants to get back in longboarding: I have a 2012 (I think) land yatch drop carve that I really like. But now I am mostly cruising around and for that I feel the ride a little to rough. If I change the wheels for something bigger and softer (I have now my old mini zombies 70mm 80a) will it really change the smoothness of the ride? We ride in the city with lots of imperfections on the road.

    Any tips on what to do if we use new bearings and the truck axle has extra space on the side after tightening the axle nut? I switched zealous bearings onto my hawgs but the original spaceball bearings were a little wider so the axle nut would screw on perfectly leaving no extra space on the axle. However, with zealous it would appear that there is a little left over on the truck axle (should this be something to be concerned about?)

    3:48 lithium grease should work or maybe graphite.

    Haven't thought of lithium grease before 🤔 But I don't see why it wouldn't work. Thanks for the suggestion

    @@concrete-waves Silicone based grease also works, I put it in all my pivot cups. I also upgraded to Riot Cups (Except for my Sabre trucks which already come with decent urethane pivot cups). Putting (silicone) grease between bushing and hanger might be too much - depending on the bushing seat of the hanger. In some cases (more open bushing seats) the bushing then will move around way too much and resistance against turning goes way down.

    Uhhh those things aren't for cleaning belt or rotary sanders they're for stopping them when they're spinning and you don't wanna walk away from it while it's moving.

    That grip stick at the beginning also causes cancer if you inhales those small particles of rubber that get scrapped off when you sand it on the grip tape. Just be careful
