    In the circles I run in, “brother” is generally a positive way to address another man. “Buddy” is often used in a slightly sarcastic and passive-aggressive way. I suppose it depends on your local culture.

    I suspect we run in similar circles and I've always found brother to be used when addressing your close friend directly, whereas when you're talking about them to another person, you say buddy so as not to imply literal blood relation (because the bond often is deeper and more complex than that)

    IDK about being called buddy from someone you've just met 🤔. Thank you to Mrs Ryan for these videos helping Men and Women. I'm just glad I still have my long black hair in my 20's because I only use hair grease and shampoo on it. It's why I'm cool being a 24 year old Christian virgin working as a special education teacher and clinical mental health counselor. This has nothing to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college graduate. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't. I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict. Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers. Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of macro Evolutionary biology whereas I accept micro Evolution like speciation and adaptation but not macro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word. Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant

    When I hear someone say "buddy," 90% of the time it means "I don't like you or what you're doing, but I don't want to be mean to you because I don't really know you, so let's resolve this amicably." Like let's say I double park my car for a second to drop something off. A guy I'm blocking in who needs to leave might be like "Hey, buddy, I need you to move the car, I'm about to leave." I literally never hear it outside of this sort of context. Maybe it's a regional thing? (I'm from NY, that's how we use it here)

    I live in Florida (but have lived all over the US) all my coworkers use buddy as a term of endearment. In my book? Buddy is what I call another guy I’m about to get into a fight with. It’s what you call a 5 year old who doesn’t know anything. I have to continuously remind myself that they aren’t trying to talk down to me.

    @@Torgomasta Yeah exactly, like if you're about to get into a fight, you would say something like "Hey, buddy, go away, I don't wanna take this outside." Like it's one step away from using "a$$hole" but you don't quite want to escalate that hard yet. I don't know anybody who would use it endearingly. We would use the term "my boy" or "my girl" in that case. Like "Hey, my boy is at the bar, wanna go grab a drink?" (or swap it out for "my girl" if appropriate)

    @Twotone-ld1fb

    It can be difficult to naturally smile often when we are hard wired sometimes to constantly focus on negative things around us. And I don't mean that you yourself are negative. By nature we are trained at a young age to judge things to protect ourselves. We are raised to judge, and when making judgements we naturally look for the negatives to figure out if something is something we should avoid for physical or emotional protection. Thus we become hard wired to look for the negative and focus on the negative. It's difficult to train ourselves to instead focus on the positive and see the good as the more important things to focus on. If we can get ourselves to focus more often and the majority of the time on the positive, then that will reflect on us and help our general mood to be positive thus making it easier to smile naturally and more often. Have to train yourself to be positive by judging things more on the positive features then the negative so it becomes natural for you. I'm still working on this myself. Even though I already see myself as positive I tend to focus on and elevate the negatives to make judgements on things. I can't think of a good example but perhaps its more of a, when you first make the judgement on something rather then your brain suddenly making a list of negatives which you then have to use positivity to bludgeon things off that list, you get in the habit of doing the opposite. So the first time you make a judgment on something your list of things are positives but tempered with understanding of some potential negatives.

    I'm lucky, I suppose. I grew up with a great mother and older sis as role models, so I did learn a lot of these things early in life. Thank you for another great video, Courtney. These are definitely things men need to know. It's definitely refreshing to see someone convey positivity, and the more opinions the better imo. And if you are a man that is just learning this... that's okay! It will only better your life and the lives of those around you :) I AM left a bit baffled by the whole "hat to the back" thing. Could just be a little niche personal preference.

    The part about the buddy is true because it makes the dude sound cool and involved also gives up a little mystery because you don’t know if he’s talking about a girl or a guy, but it does show that he is making friends and he has hook ups because usually a buddy is someone who hooks you up with something or is a plug or connection

    We all know women will change all of their roles and all of their preferences for guys based off of looks, especially when it comes to red flags so I'm sure this is just another one of those videos that only applies towards guys women are already attracted to because the first one is the use of the phrase my buddy which just means he has friends so if she already finds him attractive this just adds on to it. It's great that 80% of men are deemed unattractive to the point that them just getting over the bar is a lot easier than they think.

    I can't think of being pulled back from the street without thinking about a buddy of mine (hey, look, I used the word "Buddy!") who was pulled back out of the street and certain death once. The situation was that he was in the Air Force, had gone out for a drink or ten, got rip-roaring drunk, and stepped off the curb to hail a cab back to base at just the instant a car came speeding by and would have killed him. He said that he had a weird feeling somewhere he'd heard the voice of the guy who saved him when he said, "Son, you need to be a little more careful. Here, let me hail the cab for you." He admitted that it had taken him a moment to realize that his guardian angel was wearing a general's uniform and he ought to salute. Then he recognized the face that went with the voice that could have just as easily have been saying, "Let me tell you about my rabbit friend named Harvey." James Stewart had just kept him from being a traffic fatality.

    I'm in AA and I said to one of the women in that group "sup buddy?" but back then I said it all the dang time. I never thought about it. She told me, sometime in the future, that it meant the world to her that I said that. I was like "Really? Why?" because to me it was always like "Hey" or "What's up?" or anything casual like that. She said it meant so much to her cuz she never had a "buddy" in her life.....not once. And at this point, she was probably late 50s or early 60s. I was like late 20s at the time. I was like "Oh that's just something I say to people I like." but she was insistent "No you don't know how much that meant to me and how good it made me feel. Thank you!" and I was like "Sure thing buddy" haha She was a really awesome person!! Zero love connection but a good friend and very insightful.

    "My buddy" is a phrase that comes from a particular kind of guy. I know that guy. Often, guys will say this about friends they are close with, but they want to act casual about it. Maybe, this woman likes guys who have close friends but aren't confident in expressing their feelings for them - she likes that he has a social network, but there's an opportunity for her to help, so she's useful. She sees the little boy inside the man. There's a macho guy with a soft side. She wants a guy who chops down a tree but doesn't know to call his mother on her birthday. Then, she tells him, and he does it. Being kind to strangers is huge. Women love that one. One time, I was on the bus, and this really old couple was trying to sit down. I was sitting down, and there was one open seat beside me. The woman came first and sat down - she moved fast. My head was down, but I noticed the man out of the corner of my eye, so I jumped out of my seat, and he ran into it (and sat down). The interesting part is that the man was moving so fast that if I did not jump - like, acrobatically - the man would have run into me. The bus was moving. However, that guy read my vibe, and he knew I'd move, even though my head was down. That was a Chinese couple. A cute girl across the aisle saw the whole thing, and she was shocked. I sat down somewhere else, and she turned her whole body toward me and just stared for a long time. She went way past the normal amount of time you can stare at a stranger - even if you like them. Typically, if a young girl likes someone, she'll look for a bit, then look away - then, look back. This girl was locked in, and I avoided eye contact because I wasn't in the mood for an interaction like that. She was just so curious. The bus was moving fast and bumping, and the couple knew that they were literally in danger. If they fall, it's a whole experience. Often, guys are rude in public to other guys - strangers. Then, when a cute girl shows up, they start being polite. You see this kind of bad behaviour a lot on the internet because the guys think there are no consequences. However, your habits build your character. Women see that - all the time. They vibe with your habits, and they sense what you don't show to them directly. If you turn a woman on, she'll desire you and think about you. She'll look at you in a good way. If you show a woman respect, she'll do anything you say. She'll guess at your needs and try to satisfy them before you even notice you have them. Good women love to show respect too, and they are just waiting for the excuse to do so. Make them feel safe, and their hearts open. The Quran says that God put kindness in the hearts of men and women for each other (in marriage), and that is a sign. Everything follows a design.

    "Buddy" is more of a diminutive term to men. Men, when speaking respectfully of their fellow men, likely wouldn't refer to them as their "buddy", very few men are just likely to call their casual friends "buddy". A "buddy" is basically someone new at work assigned to shadow you to orientate them. Not a familiar, intimate friend you respect and see as your equal.

  • @thatguy6054
    @thatguy60542 күн бұрын

    I'm guessing that the "my buddy" thing is an indicator that the guy is a "man among men." It's a very masculine trait to have the respect, camaraderie and friendship of other men. The use "my buddy" (as opposed to "hey buddy") demonstrates a level of loyalty and ownership of ones membership in the tribe. In an evolutionary frame, humans became successful as hunter-gatherers.The ability of men to form hunting parties and operate as a cohesive team was critical to our survival as a species. There's a reason that use of a "buddy system" is common in high risk activities like scuba diving.

    Saying "my buddy" is military/police/firefighter/EMS slang for "my good friend" but it implies that that there is a deeper bond there from facing and supporting each other in danger and trauma. This is very different from "hey buddy" "how's it going, buddy" when approaching someone unknown are inserting yourself into a volatile situation, where it implies potential hostility to the pertain being spoken to. My guess is that it is attractive because it implies that the guy is some kind of "sheepdog" type that knows how to handle himself and has that "protective" personality and instinct. It is probably very similar to the way most women find "a man in uniform" to be attractive. The buddy thing is just a weird little quirk of the field that she has heard and assocates with those traits because she has male friends/family who are in that field and say it. It's one of those things you don't really get or think about until you've spent time in that culture. She's spot on and she probably has no idea why lol.

    Aside from the comment on the rolled up sleeves, the girl is basically saying that she finds it attractive when a guy displays selfless, gentleman like behavior in a variety of situations. As a guy, yes, I try to display these but I too am looking for a woman who likewise displays these traits. I agree with you Courtney about the backwards baseball look. Furthermore, I am tired of seeing people wearing baseball caps (forward or backward) in church and other semi formal settings.

    Skilled tradesman here to explain that the backward baseball cap shields the back of the neck, and indicates that you do interesting things outdoors that require your attention, so your head is often inclined and neck exposed to sunlight. Also, high winds or moving at high speeds create turbulence under the brim and blow the hat to who knows where. The cap turned backwards indicates a life of action, and that's one reason why it's attractive to some women.

    First, Courtney, I love the color of your dress. 1.) My buddy - I use this expression a lot. Women have never said anything to me about it. 2.) Holding things for them - More often than not women just said thanks, though I have had a few women say "I can hold my own door a$$hole." 3.) Being kind to waiters, old ladies, etc. - I usually am kind to most people. This has never gotten me anywhere. 4.) If you need to roll up your sleeves, you should have worn short sleeves to begin with. If she likes seeing the vein in your arm, I have to wonder is she a nurse or lab tech who wants to draw blood? :D 5.) Laughing and smiling - I don't do a lot of either. 6.) Backwards baseball hat - The only time I wear it backwards is when I'm in my convertible. When forward, the wind will sometimes catch the visor and try to pull it off. Wear it backwards and no problem. But other than that? Nah. 7.) Attentive with traffic - As a runner, I'm always attentive in traffic. Don't want to get hit. Doesn't help with the ladies though. Now the one non-physical thing that will attract a woman: LOTS OF MONEY. They're all drawn to that.

    In my experience, it isn’t being nice-it’s being in charge. So one woman and I looked at each other as I walked into Starbucks. She looked away and I got in line (confidence). Then we were each ordering and I chatted up the employee like I was in charge (status). The woman went to the other side of the store, and I chatted with some female co-workers one of whom was smiling and laughing (safety). Before I knew it, that girl had crossed back through the crowd to stand next to me, take the first opportunity to talk to me, and make sure I knew her name, when she could be found at the Starbucks, etc. That’s not the only time, but it’s being nice because I have nothing to gain from disagreeing with the employee-they are so much lower in status there is no point, they don’t even have decisionmaking authority. I’m certain that’s really what gets women to respond to me in those situations, not just being “nice”

    The only mark of true class is how you treat those who can do nothing for you. Women should always be watching for how men follow the Stoic code of interaction: Is it true? Is it necessary? and Is it kind? While the video contributor had a few good points, she lost me during round one with the "buddy" thing. But this may have been an issue of geographic vernacular. I have a friend from Kenya who always addresses me as "My brother." That is always complimentary and reassuring.

    I would never wear a ball cap backwards, never was or will be a frat boy. My driving is more aggressive than it needs to be but I'm old so I got my license in the early '70s when 2 lane roads were 70mph speed limit and when the 55 mph national speed limit was imposed... well that was just stupid. I learned to pass on 2 lane roads and have no fear as long as I'm driving something with enough power to do it safely. As Sammy Hagar said "I can't drive 55". Really, I just can't. I have no patience for drivers with low skill levels so I'm going around you, you don't need to dive towards the ditch-I'll be gone before you know it. I live on the southern OR coast so it's very scenic, I get it but pull over and really enjoy the view, don't slow down on the road to enjoy it! I don't worry about impressing anyone while I'm driving, I don't have passengers unless it's a dog.
