I really like the way Ana speaks. She actually has good pronunciation. I can see that she actually knows her phonetics though she has mistakes in putting the stress on syllables. 👍👍👍

Learning Brazil Portuguese is actually pretty fun since they stress and annunciate their words.
I’m mad about mischievous. It’s pronounced both ways. None of the ladies were wrong
They pronounced mischievous correctly. I'm American and that's how I say it. I've heard it the way Christina pronounces it also, so I guess there's more than one way to say it here

Yep. You can say that Americans (or brits?) messed it up when they stole it from French because there's clearly no i after the v. But these girls pronounced it the same way as native English speakers, so you can't say they are wrong.

I’ve never said miss-chee-vious. I’ve always pronounced it as Miss-chev-is like in the video. (I’m American from the NE side. I guess it must be different depending where you’re located.)
Christina , english pronunciation and the hammer 🔨 are the perfect combo
I think there's two ways to say "mischievous"...the first time people said it wasn't wrong, imho. The second correct pronunciation is the way Christina said it. February is also most commonly pronounced, feb-yoo-air-ee. I don't pronounce the first "R" in it for some reason. All the ladies did awesome though! I couldn't do the same in Spanish.
@Syiepherze

Yeah "mischievous" and "February" are real weird. I'm a native speaker and I always pronounce "mischievous" as "MIS-che-vuhs" (because it's the adjective of "mischief"), but I sometimes hear Americans pronounce it as "mis-CHEE-vee-uhs" which throws me off. For "February", I think I used to pronounce it phonetically as a kid, but I eventually shifted to "FEB-yoo-air-ee" instead because it was easier lol

One of the girls was disappointed that many of the words were French. But, the thing is that around 40-45% of English words come directly from French. The reason for this is that millions of French people moved to the southern part of England Before England was established. Germanic peoples inhabited the north of England. Even today, the culture in northern England is clearly different from that of the south.

I would say think of how a Russian pronounces "nyet", change it to "nyent" and put it with poi and say "poy nyent" for "poignant". English really does take words from everybody. "Masquerade" might be a good word for Spanish speakers, or follow up "regime" with "regimen", "sauerkraut", "Braunschweiger", "hemorrhage", "scenario", "limousine", "autumn", "reign", etc. "Reign" may be an example of why we have so many different spellings for words that sound the same in English. We have a lot of homonyms in English, and I never noticed that many when learning Spanish or German. "Reign" is concerning the period of time a monarch ruled, "rain" is precipitation falling from the sky, and "rein(s)" is what you use to drive a team of dogs or horses. It's no wonder people have trouble learning English, including most Americans.

I’ve recently come across this channel and I’ve been enjoying quite a lot, until I watched this video. I felt it was a bit patronising, and please take this as a constructive criticism. English pronunciation has so many varieties depending on the portion of the world you are, taking the American one as utterly correct implying that latin Americans are not able to speak it correctly (since the correct pronunciation in English requires years of mouth training, as some phonemes do not exist in Romance languages, for example) is not necessarily appropriate, in my book. I would love to see the other way around, Americans trying to pronounce words in Portuguese/Spanish. Other than that, great channel and great videos, truly entertaining! And shout out to my girl Ana 🇧🇷, who’s representing our country gracefully with her flawless eloquence!! ❤
Uhhh Cute Hammering! ❤😂😊

I totally agree with what she said: There isn't only one way of pronouncing the words, 'cause there are different countries that speak English. Being able to communicate is the goal.
@anndeecosita3586
10 ай бұрын
It’s not even necessarily about different countries. English words can be pronounced differently in the same country. I’m American and not long ago I was speaking to a fellow American who said the word coyote, and it took me a second to realize what she was talking about because it’s a different pronunciation than what people use where I grew up in SoCal. We say it as three syllables but it seems Midwest people say it as two.
In the Colombian coast, February is pronounced Carnavales😂
Poignant = Poy (like boy)-nee-yent
I think they done a good job. I'm from America and I even have a difficult time saying and pronouncing some of our words. Lol.
:)
They should have had the pronounce Onomatopoeia.
February = Feh-beeoo-eh-ry
lol nobody - not even the english speaker got poignant right. it’s “POYn-yant”
The "mexican" girl
February is a word coming from Latin, so if it's difficult to pronounce in English for Latin Americans, it's because the English mispronounced it in the first place hundreds of years ago
