Hey hey my smart peeps! Has the existence of these museums come as a surprise to you, or are you an EDINBURGH PRO and you've already ticked all of them off your to-do list?

I'm just so impressed and amazed that these places are open for free to the public. Who wouldn't want to go? I'm forever seeking them out when I'm there. I could spend all week inside one and probably not see everything there is to see. THANK YOU for your dedication and your insight. LOVE the music museum, and NO, I had no idea it was there.

Possibly my favourite thing about how things are done in the UK, the free museums and galleries! In Czech Republic most museums and galleries are pay-to-visit, so living here and having all of these at my disposal for free feels like such a luxury!

Most people watching this will be unaware that the wee gallery situated in The Meadows (shown at the beginning) is a redundant police box. It dates to a time before personal radios and allowed beat constables to receive and send messages via the dedicated telephone line installed inside. They could also shelter from the rain and carry out minor administrative work. Originally it would have been painted blue. The BBCs Doctor Who series uses an English pattern police box as the Tardis. One small observation: we actually employ the definite article when referring to certain places or streets. For example: The New Town; The Old Town; The Royal Miles etc. We don’t describe them as simply Royal Mile or New Town. Quirky I know but that’s just what we tend to do.

When we were just in Scotland we got the Historic Scotland pass and it was wellllll worth it! I really wanted to see some of these but there is just so much to see and do there! Guess we’ll have to come back! 😂

This video is great. I've been visiting Edinburgh for forty years and never knew St. Cecilia's Hall has a collection of historic instruments. I will have to make sure to see this on my next visit. I've visited Surgeons Hall Museum but have never heard of Physicians Gallery. Need to check out that one too.

I thought you might sneak in that new museum of witchcraft ( not Harry Potter related!) that’s opened somewhere near the Royal mile. Not been there myself yet so as yet not had any recommendations for it 😃

Huh, I think I've seen like... an a4 printout saying it's.. perhaps coming? It was slapped onto a very empty looking shop, so to be honest I assumed it went up and down within months and I just never noticed it ! Haha
