Ғылым және технология

The average adult needs from between 3500-4700 mg of Potassium each day, we are told. Your body needs this potassium for 1000's of functions, including muscle and brain function. Without enough potassium in your diet you will suffer.
For most people, leg muscle cramps are the first indication of low potassium. Most people who start keto are already have very low potassium levels from their previous SAD Diet There are many keto foods rich in potassium which you can use to replenish your potassium stores.
Good, whole, keto foods give you so much nutrition, but if you need extra potassium, here's the foods to focus on.

    Everyone is different. I don't argue with anyone blaming banana for their problems. But as for me the banana does wonders in my stomach. After suffering from IBS for years of constipation, bloating, indigestion, gastritis, etc. but now I'm relieved thanks to these bananas others scorn! I tried different fruits and always had to take laxatives before bowel movements. A poop once in a week was even difficult. But now thanks to banana i poop everyday. Hallelujah!!!! Bananas are too good!

    Hello there I read about your constipation, and eating bananas which is perfectly fine. May i suggest one more thing I do every day, which you may know already. As soon as you wake up in the morning and with out brushing your teeth (which is important) drink one full litre of water, a little more if you have bigger body. Don't drink all at time but pour it into a glass and drink each glass every 3-4 minutes. You will have very free poop movement. All the toxins in your body comes apart from the poop. Please do not stand and drink water always be seated while drinking. This I'm saying on any occasion don't stand while drinking water, this brings a lot of negative energy to the body as per Ayurvedic science. Good luck

    Did you take the popular injection? We are still uncovering the side effects that have been hidden from us. You are describing one of the scenarios. I don’t know how much weight you are carrying, but overtime that can push people over the edge into symptoms as well. Sometimes the body holds onto fat as a protective measure, so if you are very toxic and your fat cells are protecting your body by storing it, your body may not want to let go of that unless you have something in your body to help detoxify it. That is a huge topic to start exploring. While calories in/calories out has been disproven as being too simplistic, if your leptin is out of whack, calories definitely do matter. Doing a little food tracking might be valuable. Obviously, supplementing with electrolyte drops or taking “snake juice“ that has a little bit of sea salt and potassium salt in it are non-caloric ways of getting more potassium and other electrolytes into your body and normalizing your fluid balance. Look into correct in your light environment, that can play a huge role in the electrical signaling in the body which obviously affects the heart. Complicated science that is simple to apply in real life (not necessarily easy, but simple and inexpensive for most people). Dr. Jack Kruse is the go to guy for that but more and more people are learning about it and sharing it in more Laymans terms. Jack can be found on KZread as a guest on many different health talkshows. I hope you get to the bottom of things!

    I totally agree with the idea that foods are a good source of minerals, at least they used to be, but with prevalence of "modern" farming, or crop production methods, most farms have soil so depleted in them that they simply can not be in the crops they produce... Add to that the profound affect Roundup has on the availability of those same minerals to be used by the plants... Roundup ties up those minerals so they aren't available to the plants... that's why they die... They're starving for the minerals needed for cell growth... the same way our cells starve when we don't have those same minerals...

    Dr Westman, I just wanted to say that I LOVE your approach to this lifestyle in terms of the simplicity you lay it out with. When I worry about Macros and all of the other ratios when I listen to too many ketogenic vlogs, I am bound up once again with a different set of chains, in that I wonder if I am doing this right or not, regardless of the weight loss I have achieved and how well I feel. When people ask about my weight loss, I send them to your videos due to the simplicity of your message. A chronic yoyo dieter does not need more rules to bind them up in their already obsessive/compulsive dieting mode or way of eating, hence the reason I point them to your videos. Unfortunately, my cholesterol is hyper at a total of 6.16 and my LDL is at 0.77 mml (Canadian measurements) lower than the recommended >1.19. My doctor would like me to be on 40 to 70 mg of statins. I refuse! He keeps telling me he worries about me stroking out. I continue on in the ketogenic way because I feel so good, and I have quit obsessing about food. Thank you Dr. Westman, and to all of the team who contribute to this wonderful way of life.

    I am just learning about potassium, but incorporating mag glyconate into my life was one of the best things I ever di to lower my stress and anxiety. It really works for me. I started having anxiety attacks after one of siblings committed suicide, but did not want to ever take any psych drugs. The magnesium works. I sometimes take a pill, but I also have a spray to just spray on my feet. Works best there. I like the pill better because I know how much I am getting and don't want to upset the rest of my balance.

In this video about Potassium, you mentioned normal Kidney function, so it made me wonder how to get enough Potassium safely, since I had to have a kidney and an Adrenal Gland removed due to Cancer. We also have an older friend who doesn't have the function of one of his Kidneys, but the other one works fine, and the Doctor told him to take in such low amounts of Potassium that, , pretty much, no Potassium. Look forward to hearing back from you about this, as I trust what you have to say. Thank you again sooo much, for such informative videos, and being such a good Doctor out here to those of us on the Internet who are struggling with our health, and our weight.

    Not expert, but taking in low pottasium for kidneys sounds like a bad idea. All your cells need potassium to use water properly. If friend takes less potassium, there will be more sodium and kidneys can swell and other tissues can swell with fluids. Kidney will not work as well if friend has too much sodium and not enough potassium. It is all about balance. I think doctor has misunderstanding.

  • @margomoore4527

    @margomoore4527

    Kidney disease can damage the kidney’s ability to process potassium. I discovered this in a pub med article, because my own kidney numbers are not ideal. You don’t say why your friend lost a kidney, or what kind of shape his remaining one is in. You say it “works fine”, but have you seen his bloodwork and know how to interpret it? There might be good reason for his doctor to restrict potassium, at least in supplement form, because it would be easy to overdose. That one remaining kidney is precious and needs to be handled with TLC! Probably adding a couple of food sources might be fairly safe; just wouldn’t want to go hog wild.

    Dr. Berry, please can you do a series of videos about celiac disease (CD) non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS), the 300 possible symptoms of CD and NCGS, how to test for CD and NCGS, the genetic markers that enable people to get CD, the incidence of the CD genetic markers and CD and NCGS. Also once diagnosed, what is gluten, what grains have gluten, what ingredients are made from gluten, and how does a person prevent cross-contamination so that the person doesn't get glutened. About 5 years ago, I went gluten free at the instructions of a nutritionist. After 10 months, my sense of smell started coming back after being pretty much dead for 20 years. As the weeks and months passed, I stopped having allergies, tinnitus, eczema, constant and lowgrade fatique, etc. In all over a period of 2 years 4 months, I had 18 health problems solved. CD and NCGS are common and are chameleons that get misdiagnosed as all kinds of other diseases. Also, I think you said that your wife is a nurse. Can she do a video presentation by herself, please? Nurses have a lot more education than some people give them credit for. Also, they are very focused in on emotional support of patients and their relatives. So, she could give some very useful info.

    @@wormwoodbush3537 , when doing keto, there's still the possibility of getting glutened due to cross-contamination or using foods that contain an ingredient that is made from gluten. Sometimes, ingredients, that are made from gluten, have names that don't indicate they are made from gluten. Those ingredients can sometimes be "vegetable protein", some kinds of vinegars, etc. Also when eating out, the kitchen staff need to know so that they don't cross-contaminate your food or use an ingredient made from gluten. Cross-contamination is as easy as not changing gloves, using the same cutting board, etc.

What I was taking about was strict keto at home, using only raw ingredients. I understand the cross contamination thing, and the restaurant thing, I've got a latex allergy, and you'd be surprised where that crap pops up! Just like many non allergy sufferers, or people without friends with allergies, wouldn't know what contained gluten. It's a bit like latex actually, it's hidden in so many places, cause it's cheap to produce. I hope you have success in keto, you never know, in a short while, your body might recover to a point that you can handle minor gluten exposure without symptoms.
