I've played and coached football for over 30yrs, and agree with Matt 100%. Training for football is extremely challenging. Those athletes have all the demands of other athletes; power generation, proprioception, and SAQ. Then, football adds the difficulty modifiers of also requiring size and extreme durability. I really wish it was easier to get younger athletes into solid football training programs. I started with a performance coach at 15yo, and I made it quite a bit further than my peers who did not have coaching. It makes a huge difference on the field, and it much safer for well developed athletes to play the game.
