7.3 EXCURSION OVERLAND BUILD HITS BLACK BEAR PASS
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This time on Knucklehead Garage we are finally hitting pay dirt on Project Towverlander our 7.3 Excursion Overland vehicle build. We have outfitted the Diesel Excursion overland vehicle with some of the best overlanding stuff you can buy and will be driving this 1 ton beast 5000 miles from Atlanta, Georgia to Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and back. This will be the ultimate overlander test with an epic mix of trail riding and camping. For this episode we are hitting Pike's Peak before hitting some trails on our way to camp and take the biggest SUV ever made down the treacherous Black Bear Pass off road trail in Colorado. We might try to do it in 2wd just to prove how capable the Overland Excursion build is. We can't believe how much fun overlanding Colorado can be. Stay tuned for part 2 as we do some hardcore wheeling in Moab, Utah and push Jamin way outside of his comfort zone. You do not want to miss this!

Looks like a great trip and seeing some stuff you probably wouldn’t have seen without a well built rig to get you there. Kinda confused if the excursion was built to take “overlanding” purely to make fun of overlanding, or it was built for the same purpose most people build an overland rig which is to have a vehicle that gets you places most couldn’t go. I understand that you did it in 2 wheel drive, but i don’t think anyone would take a bone stock 2 wheel drive excursion over BBP. The 20 k worth of suspension under that thing did its job well.

Built to Overland. Not a joke. Matt wasn’t sure about the Overland thing… I converted him with the Excursion. And no, I’m not advocating that anyone do BBP in a stock 2wd. We had lots of clearance, KM3, and 6300lbs on the rear tires. Plenty of grip.

I’m sure I’ve missed a ton of context so my bad if the comment seemed “overlandy”. I live in ATL, have a jeep that i tent camp out of, and a GX470 that i built for out west trips. Build for the conditions you’re going to be in. I love that excursion build and even though BBP isn’t technically that difficult. Ford Super Duty/Excursion pump tip... when you're trying to run the larger fill-up nozzle at the pump, you may want to snag a 2002+ filler neck, and do the harpoon mod to the tank. That way, you can fill up at the Semi pumps without issues.

Makes me wish I still had my 2002 F250 7.3 Powerstroke! Have to hand it to you boys, we just made the trip from Alabama to Silverton and stayed the last two weeks of Sept. Didn't overland...trailered our YJ's out there and rented a mountain cabin to trail ride for two weeks. Congrats to you, my cajones ain't as big as softballs and there is no way I would have done that in a four door, full size truck. I thoroughly enjoyed this video!

Atlanta to Amarillo Texas up 287 across 160 to I-25 to Denver, or 87 into Clayton New Mexico to I-25. Less traffic great views. Gallup New Mexico up to shippin rock and head west towards the 4 corners then mighty 5 in Utah. Great overland trails. I’m a retired truck driver from canton Georgia, now live in southern utah.

@@freedomworx I ran it in a built up 99 F-150 and about 50 other Colorado and Moab trails. Jeeps and Toyotas will give you a look when your in a truck on the trails. Sometimes even ask you if you know what's above and below like you can't handle it. They almost want to say what are you doing on these trails ?? My answer is kicking your ass. I built my rig part for part over many years. I run tons of trails year around and have done way more than most so called built Jeeps in Colorado. Many trails I seen people bailing off but the big Ole F-150 goes to the top and down the other side.
We did the alpine loop over the summer. Incredible trail and views

'05 Ex 6.0 Eddie 230k and loved this video, mine is NOT 11k! but, its not the 7.3 as I would have hoped. I like the set-up especially the spare tire/storage bumper. Cant get into the overhead tent, disabled (USMC/USAF) and would make it even worse if I had to piss in the middle of the night. I need to find the build video, always looking for new ways to step up my rig. People always underestimate what these beasts can do, I make it in places that would make jeeps blush. Dont listen to the haters, you be you and keep on trucking
