I believe you are correct about the hangfires. Staball65 will do the same thing at lower charge weights, so it may be a characteristic of the Staball line. Great video Rob

It's a characteristic of ball powders in general.

I would try the same charge at a couple different depths, with the bullets seated 0.010" off the lands 2.548" and 0.008" in to the lands 2.566" going by your measurement. My 6x47 Lapua shoots those bullets in the lands a little better ( .2's ), but out a little is a close second ( .3's ). Those bullets are very consistent and generally shoot very well, as good if not better than the hybrids at closer ranges.

Awesome, glad to see some test with this powder in your 6gt. Poor ignition of ball powders is kind of a common thing. Top end leads and/or magnum primers tend to be the solution.

i noticed with staball 6.5, it performed best at or near max charges, so him wanting to push the charge weights up a little more is a great idea imo

When I asked Hodgdon about 6gt. They advised they had no load data presently.

I was thinking that the 6gt was based around varget

@@waynemayle865 it is. One thing I've noticed about staball powders is they are more dense than what they are based on, so to fill up the same case volume, the charge weights will be higher. I noticed this originally with Staball 6.5 vs H4350. So I tell people, take a varget load and add 1-2 grains and you should be in a good spot for Staball match. So I think he could go as high as 35.5-36gr and still be in a good spot

@@ForceRecon112 yeah it seems to require more powder than Varget. Idk why hodgdon wouldn't have tested this with more cartridges. Very few listed on their load data.
