66/80cc Engine: Simple and Easy, How to remove clutch gear and base.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

TIP: When reinstalling the clutch gear, simply place the woodruff key curved side down in the slot on the clutch shaft using needle nose pliers and if need be, a drop of blue locktite (let it dry for a few minutes) and then line up the notch/slot on the gear with the woodruff key and press the gear down by hand and lightly tap with a rubber mallet or normal hammer with a piece of wood between the gear and the hammer.

    Thanks for the video - I bought a new motor and it came as a partly assembled kit. (Top end not installed) I figured I didn't want to dry assemble it so I put oil on the crank, rod bearings and play rings so it would have lube and not dry start. I went out to my shop the next morning and found my motor was sitting in a puddle of oil on the work bench???? I found that all of the bolts that held the crank case together were only hand tight. I didn't know how to get to the ones behind the clutch - again, thanks, it was easy :)

    Your also supposed to add a lubricant preferably grease to lubricate the threads on the Clutch Gear Puller to prevent any cross threading and to make smooth contact with threads.

    RogueSp33d _, I feel your frustration. Thanks for the positive feedback. Btw, about bow often are you needing to change the clutch pads? Sometimes in lieu of actually having to change the pads, you can make some clutch cable and flower nut adjustments as well.

    Very well done video dude! Thanks a lot! you taught me something new today! I'm going to go ahead and conduct this process on my spare parts motor so I can learn the process properly without damaging my main motor on my bike! Oh, just a FYI and to teach you something my friend (no pun intended). The magnetic tool you used is called a: Telescopic Magnetic Retrieval Tool. Not a telescoping magnetic pen ;) Thanks again brother! Motorized bicycles rule! Mine tops out at 75km/hr and it's only the 66/80cc with a aftermarket CNC Hardened Aluminum cylinder head and a after market CNC Hardened Aluminum straight shaft Air Intake Manifold installed. She's bad ass and will be even more bad ass when I replace my heavily used Clutch Shaft with the new a new one! :D

    Great video!-My rear tire froze on me and the drive sprocket/chain appear to be fine. Am hoping that a clutch pad slipped and caused the drivetrain to sieze. Otherwise, it's the piston that froze and the engine is toast:(-John in Texas

    I should have shown that part. But yes, making sure the gears are in fixed position is how you go about removing nut, just as you would for installing and removing the gear puller.

    Why Tee, my apologies for the delayed reply. I did get a new assembly and ironically it was too tight and did not rotate freely. The ball bearings were all locked up. I ended up having to return it. The only thing I can really recommend is to purchase parts from reputable vendor with a decent return policy. Amazon as well as Amazon's 3rd party sellers is always a fairly safe option. Your almost always protected financially on that platform. Also using paypal for online purchases is advisable in the case that you purchase from an unscrupulous vendor. Paypal always takes care of the buyer.

    I took off the clutch disc and see about 20 tiny ball bearings all around the pads. I'm assuming they come from the bearing on the other side of the clutch pad gear. are these replaceable, or do I need the whole assembly?

  • @BicycleMotorsports

    @BicycleMotorsports

    pds tech, my advice would be to purchase (inexpensively) a new clutch/ring gear and replace entirely. Unless your an expert machinist with the right tools, it would be way more trouble than its worth trying to disassemble that gear and change the ball bearings. Just make sure the new clutch gear spins freely and relatively smooth. If not then return it and buy another. You can also just buy new pads, but unfortunately due to of the imprecise nature of virtually everything on these motors, the pads will need to be reshaped one by one by hand just so you can fit them in the slots on the ring gear. With that being said, and as mentioned before, just buy the whole clutch gear with pads already installed. Hopefully someday, someone will manufacture a precision made 66cc motor with actual quality assurance checks in place.

    @@BicycleMotorsports it would be great if they came precision built but sadly, it would end up being cost prohibitive. I feel like I can much better enjoy this hobby having the acceptance that nothing is perfect and it will be alot of work/maintenance to keep the little commuter going, vs paying a premium for a motor that is still prone to the issues that are just genetic for 2 stroke motors.

    Victor Sanchez, if your talking about the gear free spinning, you need to place a washer or penny between the gears or use a flathead screwdriver as shown in this video. For the penny or washer, just follow the instructions for holding the gears in place found in this other video of mine. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gqmEksqCn7C3prw.html Let me know if your still having trouble.
