When I first saw this I got excited, this had potential……but yet again, lazy writing ruined a potential good movie, I felt the same way about antebellum….genius premise, HORRIBLE script……they never addressed where he was from, were they an alien race, or were they humans of future past, how they were so technologically advanced, where he was going, why was he going there, NOTHING!!…..and the little girl was absolutely a after thought to the story and kinda not needed, I’d rather him crash land and FIND people on the planet smh……but all in all, this felt like after earth 2, or a prequel to after earth, I was severely let down 🤦🏾‍♂️

Totally agree that the twist had me interested. I thought maybe they were the origins of humanity like adam and Eve, but as far as dinosaurs, it is hard to compete with Jurassic Park. It's just another run from the scary monster concept, which is the Jurassic Park approach...prob stream it. Sidenote waiting on the John Wick review need that 2 peice. Thanks

This 65 movie doesn't sound too bad though, I didn't know what to expect but as with many other movies & TV projects, I take the risk depending on your and What You Thought Podcast's reviews. I am an astronomer so I was intrigued by this film’s concept. With the Universe being over 14 billion years and if there other intelligent civilizations out there, they may already been advanced enough to travel to other planets before human beings were born and evolved. I am also a huge dinosaur fan and I am always down for a film about dinosaurs. However, I was let down by the execution of 65. Good action but not enough high octane thrills for me. The other let down was that they opted to depict dinosaurs the way they looked in Jurassic Park, which is incorrect. They should have designed the dinosaurs with more realistic features-giant feathered creatures rather than giant scaly lizards. A realistic depiction of the dinosaurs would have made the film a lot more interesting. Another thing that could have made it interesting if somehow the spacecraft that landed actually attracted the asteroid to collide with the Earth. Like a gravitational tractor effect of some kind.

I was thinking the same thing about “ground zero” but if you remember the cluster of asteroids that caused him to crash were most likely on its way to earth so it’s easy to believe that the trajectory would be the same for the ship.

I watched this film a few weeks ago and I enjoyed the film, the story, the character reveal, but especially the realisation that there are potentially untold advanced humanoid species that could have been exploring the cosmos before the first Earth Humans arrived. Cemented by Adam Driver referring to Dinosaurs as Aliens, because they are to him. I also liked the nod to cave paintings depicting Astronauts that our archaeologists have historically found (#Spoiler: There's a scene in the film that I'm referring to). Also to further to what Tony mentioned, the transport ship was going to another colony, but was hit during their journey by a series of small asteroids, that lead the main body, that subsequently collides with Earth, so the likelihood that the crash site is near ground zero is somewhat believable (for me) just based on gravitational forces with the asteroids destroying the ship in part. Overall I would say I'd give it a 4/5. I think Adam Driver embodied a forlorn pilot who's very much still a father despite what happens via present and flashback moments. I was invested in the two character dynamic.

A billion years is unimaginably long. Multiple “human” civilizations could’ve existed, before us. There’s no way we would ever find records of that because 1 billion years is an insane amount of time. Our species is roughly 5-7 million years old. And the earth is 4.5 billion years old.

Yes we've seen cgi Dino's again & again now, BUT this is a new circumstance to see them in, that's neither cave man 1000,000 yrs bc or KING KONG or J. Park. there IS some interesting originality here, I'd say, it was never predictable, surprising us often enough, & the emphasis on survival and human relationships, was believable.

The technology the characters had access to. 3. The idea that there are possibly civilizations on other planets that have been around a lot longer than us that are much more advanced.

This movie was so disappointing. I cared about the characters, but I wish they would have went more into who they were and why they were traveling etc... Was their planet dying and it was a last ditch effort to find a livable planet to continue their race and they failed? Then they left a pod with some human DNA that somehow became us eventually. That would have added an interesting element and explained why, if there are other intelligent beings in that universe, they aren't around now. And why those aliens look just like us now. But I was also thinking, "really, so they just happened to land hours before the asteroid arrived." Earth is a livable planet for Driver's people, and was 3.5billion years old at the time and in the path of the spaceship they were on, but it was completely unknown? OK....

If you go to just about the 33 minute mark of this film, you will have your capsule review of this film “Sh✋🏽t” My personal opinion of this review is that it’s over inflated and Just like the movie was three times longer than it should’ve been. So I guess I will have to elaborate three times as long: An old recycled idea if anyone remembers the 1970s land of the lost TV series which was more entertaining as well as the 90s reboot and Will Ferrell movie . Wasted acting potential, and he bleached bland script. If this movie was entrée at a barbecue, it was a plain cold hamburger on and on toasted, no sesame seed, white bun, no condiments, lettuce, or cheese. I’m glad I didn’t see this in the theater or would’ve walked out. Watched it for free on Netflix and fast forward through a third of it. Special effects and art direction. Got a paycheck. Very forgettable film. Three of the four actors in this film have lots of potential. It seemed obvious that it was a movie made during the pandemic. For the special effects staff, they did an average job. No one is winning any awards, or being nominated for this. I give it 65 dinosaurs out of 200 dinosaurs, or 3.2 out of 10 Adam driver’s. I just hope I don’t know any of the filmmakers or crew involved in this film as I hate to bash fellow artists but you know you all could do better. You should never come out of watching a movie, feeling less educated and dumbererer than you usededed to B.
