Excellent work!!! It is great seeing how people use their minds in teaching others who want to learn and get ideas by using it in a good way. The coin was intensionally made bigger and different from the original. And I am sure he used that design for the coin because it is easier for people to understand what he is making.
Thank you for sharing Roger! I love your cnc work, I want to build myself one someday soon.
I would love love love one of these CNC machines.
impressive, great video, I look forward to seeing more, keep up the good work Roger
Hi Roger, just wanted to say I enjoy watching your vid, it shows that age doesn't matter when it comes to technology. I myself am a little bit old, and still learning new stuff, like 3D Printing, and now I am planning to build a CNC machine of my own soon using only 3D Printed parts. Keep making vids, your an inspiration.
Amazing, congratulations!
That was awesome!!!!!!!
Very beautiful work!

Very inspiring.
It was this very type of video by a very talented guy named Daniel Carr (Moonlight Mint) that got me started in CNC. My attempts were not even close to how well you did at that scale. Nice cut.
impressive detail on such a small surface. thanks

Hi Daniel, all you need is ArtCam Express USD $150. Take a look at the ArtCam Express tutorials on you Tube. They are comprehensive, and the ArtCam Express program is. I think the best on the market. It includes over 600 3-D reliefs, and the tools to create everything you see me doing with CNC. Thank you for watching my videos, if I can be any further assistance please e-mail me.

what a nice man :D
What needs to be pointed out here is that your engraving such detail on a machine that is capable of machining something that is over 3-4 foot square!! The first time I engraved something down to a few thousands of an inch it blew my mind thinking of how many thousands of an inch there are in a machine with a 3.5 x 3.5 foot bed size!! (1.764 million) I think Mr Webb machine is a just little bit bigger than my machine!
Bravo ))

A Craftsman Machines a Nickel Coin Out of Solid Brass Using a CNC Router Cutting Machine. Australian inventor Roger Clyde Webb demonstrates his ability to make money by machining a nickel out of brass using a CNC Router cutting machine. There are certain clear distinctions between the personalized five-cent piece and actual legal tender, including its size and the fact that the lettering is engraved, instead of raised.

Looks even better than the original dollar coin !!
Hi Roger, this is nice work and a wonderful video for sharing. Thanks! Can you advise what is the depth of cutting ( max and min) in order to acheive the 3D effect? Do you think it will work on a 1mm (or below) thick Aluminium sheet? Please also advise your router accuracy in order to make this coin face. Thank you very much and please keep share your videos to us!

Looks more like a nickel to me. Still really cool stuff though :)
Awesome machine. That would have taken a weekend or two to build.
Hi Roger, i just subscibed:). Very nice watching your video's, and great for learning. I just bought a chinese 6090 myself. Unfortunately i cant get such a big log like in one of your video's under my mill. Maximum height of the workpiece is 128mm:). You can see the machine i bought in my youtube channel. So far i only made a wingpart for a modelplane and a letterblock. Its awsome cncing! Keep up the great work! Cheers from The Netherlands!

That nickle is WORTH a $100.00 Nice job!
Wow nice man toy
Hi, Roger, great vid, I was wondering, why did you not use any coolant/cutting oil?
Hello .. Good evening I wonder where I find this material for making these currencies have found it very cool'm riding my cnc and liked the idea of currency.
U can counter fit coins with that damn
Great video. I just subscribed to your channel. My router is very similar to yours, albeit a much earlier version (prototype perhaps?) which I purchased 8 years ago. I paid about $7500 for it AND had to drive 1000 miles each way to pick it up. Mine only has about 4 inches of Z travel and no 4th axis. Seeing yours makes me wish I had waited a few years to buy, as it seems that you got a much better deal than I did. Keep making great videos, they are appreciated.

Query, what are the tooling marks look like under the microscope compared to the stamping process of the us mint.
Roger: Im working with Enroute on a large router and was wondering if you have a video for 3D routing?
beautiful work. I envy having a cnc machine but pretty sure it's far out of budget unless you are in the business. - subscribed!
Roger, very nice. what website do I find your your machine on. I saw it the other day on youtube. thanks
nice job ,btw what kind tools bits u use in this job ?
Amazing work! What bit are you using for this?
Actually that is a 5¢ Jefferson nickel. A dollar coin depending on what year depicts Liberty, President Eisenhower, Susan B. Anthony, George Washington and now the "Gold dollar" coins (that aren't gold but are more of a brass color). Neat machine though! Thank you for the awesome video!
good rep on that coin medallion
Very cool Thumbs up 2181
superbe
What tools were you using and feed speeds thanks I tried to do something smillar Which CNC driving software. Are you using. I used Mach 3 and it pausing nearly to stop on each quarter arc mill on a spiral cut Thanks
You should strap a vacuum hose to the side of the router so that you can set it up , turn it on and sit back and watch it go.
Very nice. Do you mill brass without any cooling means? How long does a head last for you?
cool.....Grüsse vom Lake constance (Austria) Peter
Maybe I missed it. Do you remember what the elapsed time for this entire route was? Thanks! Great video.
Before I asked this question, I tried to see if it was already answered before. Hard to tell, so here goes: What kind of adhesive did you use to bond the metal to the little platform it was attached to? After the milling is over, how would you remove the finished product from the platform? I very much liked your presentation.
Hi Roger, Nice vid. What cutter bits are you using - it looks like a ball nose mill bit to begin with and then a v-shape cutter for the letter engraving. What RPM and feed rate do you find suitable. Do you use lubricant or is dry cutting good? Is the brass disc glued to the wood? Do you use mach3 to control your machine? Thanks.
Very impressive! Could you upload a photo and do a portrait medallion with that software? That could just about be a full time business here in the states if it can be done!

What are your feeds and speeds as well as the bits used?
Do you do other coins like U.S. Naval Ship emblems and how much do you charge?
How do you hold that coin to the wood?
No air cooler on it the whole time and what material, what tooling are you using, speeds and feeds? Did you eyeball center or use an Indicator? Loved the video just curious.
i want to get a desktop cnc machine to make chassis for RC nitro cars. I was looking at the 3020T dj router give an opinion
Roger, I am hoping to get into automated cnc as a hobby. What cnc system would you recommend for a beginner? I would prefer something that is smaller but can to nice work.
Haha, that was awesome! Now just make a negative mold instead and start casting your own :)

That's an American nickel mate, also known as 5 cents. Nice work though, maybe now you can engrave some plates for an American $20 bill. That would be a great trick.
Hi sir , could you tell me what kind of tool I have to use to make my job like this coin , in a proof with 3 mm in a carbon fiber surface..? I'm using angles 4 the fonts
And what model of that machine for coin design engraving machine on die steel iron metal
sir which machine suitable for coin die engraving on iron.please help me . for guidelines me which machine purchase for iron engraving 3d design. and what configuration required in machine. I want best sharpness and clearty in coin iron coin die
What software did you use to copy it? How did you copy it? It looked as if you were photographing the coin. How did you do it?
Hi Roger - what kind of bits did you use on this?
A shorter cutter would eliminate a lot of that chatter, or roughness on the surface. Nice job.
what type of end mill you used in this video ??
I want one!!

Hi, can you tell me who makes that cnc, can it be programmed in g-code, what is the resolution of the X,Y, Z axis and can you also buy a 4th & 5th axis. Thank You.
what bit are u using?
What cutterhead are you using (Brand name and profile please)? I am considering prototypes such as this but am concerned about diminishing returns on dull cutterhead. Especially since the "Hog" bit is the "finish" bit in these cases.
