600HP FPV FALCON GT-F (FG) REVIEW - The Undisputed KING of Ford Australia

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A warm welcome to everyone checking out my latest KZread video!
In this episode, I share with you my thoughts on this 2014 FPV Falcon GT-F. One of only 550 cars ever made, the GT-F is the most powerful and hardcore Australian Ford ever built. This vehicle marks the end of an era as it is the final iteration of the legendary Falcon GT as well as being the last FPV. With a 5 litre, supercharged V8 engine and a host of tasteful modifications it now makes 600HP at just the rear wheels! Is this the best Aussie Ford ever made?
Thank you to the owner Dan for sharing his pride and joy!

Great review Clay - as usual, top production. Love the photography too. GTF is indeed iconic and will only appreciate, at least if looked after, which most will be. Ya know, based on your performance figures quoted (0-111kph 4.7 and quarter 12.7) she's very nearly as quick as a Sprint 6 Barra! :-)

I have a supercharged VE HSV (430kw at the wheels) when I bought it, it had 22 inch Simmons and was struggling to grip with those rubber band tires, sold those got 20 inch Simmons with 275/35/20 tires all round made a big difference would highly recommend this guy getting rid of those 22's if he wants to keep that power to get ground more.

The only real disappointment for me about these beauties is that many will hardly ever get driven .Plenty bought as investments because the "F" will just keep going up in value..Absolute certainty ... They are like a thoroughbred stallion penned up in a tiny yard if not driven as they were meant to ..I'm a huge fan of Ford's factory wheels ...No-one did them better . My own an FG XR6 has the factory wheels and I'd never put after market ones on ..If I was ever super fortunate to have one of these stunners I'd definitely want the original wheels .. Great video once again Clay ..I'm a huge fan and a subscriber of course ...

Hi clay. You say it is up only 20kw on the standard 400kw at the crank. But having been tuned with that exhaust maybe larger injectors the 420kw you say it has now would be at the wheels, so it has more than an extra 20 kw as you mentioned. Gaining 20 kw from exhaust system and tune is incorrect and hardly worth the hassle/ expense. It most likley went from around 320rwkw to 420rwkw with those performance upgrades.

My xr6 has been modified and tuned to a total of approx $5.5k and has 318rwkw. I haven't taken barra to drags but have ran them against each other. Gt gets it over my barra but yes barra feels faster the way the turb comes on I think that what gets people. I love both cars but have noticed the unfair comments to the 335 often on youtube. A great car no doubt but the AU series II/III is one of the best made Falcons in my opinion. Australia wasn't ready for it back in 1998 due to its futuristic design but now in 2022 their design still looks modern amongst what's currently on the road. Yes the AU I wasn't the best looking in base models but subsequent design refinements changed that. Ford invested 5yrs and $700 million into development of the AU. That's ~$1.3 billion in today's money. I don't think any other Ford series received the same kind of investment. Considering reliability, my AU II Fairmont Ghia ( 2001). Has just ticked over 285000km and the factory water pump has just failed. That's crazy durability not found in more modern cars. The vct intech engine still feels fresh and still makes claimed factory power, again fantastic workmanship and testament to the quality of Tickford engineering and blue printed engines. I wonder if the FG GTF has a blue printed engine and will still be running in 15yrs time if driven regularly. I hope so but suspect not

My uncle had a phase 3.It had factory 3.9 gears he took it to the track with a set of slicks and the rev limiter removed and did a 13.4 and could of done alot better too much wheel spin.So really the xy gt ho with modern tyres is a high 12 sec quarter mile car.

I have a xy with a Cleveland 4v 351 ~430 hp and 3.5 gears 6,300rpm limit. It is way lighter than the fgx xr8 that I have. But the supercharged engine just produces so much torque across the rev range and the other limiting factor is the top loader transmission just can shift as quick as the manual xr8. There is no other v8 that I have heard that sound as good as the Cleveland though. It's a pity the journos at the time did the quarter run in the phase 3 with the 3.25 rear end as the 3.5 was standard equipment and would have done better than the 14.2 as recorded. Modern tires are another thing that would propel the phase 3 faster than the recorded times back then.

Every comment section to do with cars has an idiot like you squirting over a Barra, it’s 20years behind time for turbos being introduced to performance cars and 30years behind Holden to design and build an engine.

@@dwaynegolding5579 The barra is 20 years behind you reckon...Since the barra began its design in 2002, can you remind me of a hot turbo 6 in 1982. 30 yrs behind holden, what has holden made well. The only two decent engines they ever used was the RB in the VL which is a nissan motor and the LS which is a chevy motor that was ironically copied off the small block fords anyway. And fast forward to 2016, i dont believe there was a single motor in the Holden stable more advanced than Fords alternative.

4:53 that doesn't look like a car gliding through a corner lol. And even with all that power it still gets beat by Holden around a track, because it doesn't handle, and almost everyone who drives one says the seat position is just stupidly high.

Great content as usual clay but the fords are absolute garbage from aussies. The Barra is ok for a high boost application on track and that’s it ....

All Holden did was winge that Ford was too good they kept changing the rules to the point that they told the government to tell Ford to slow down their cars or they won’t be allowed in the country, at this time Ford was making the gtho phase iii , they only made 300 before the government stepped in hence the name phase iii but you know this is all the politics behind the companies that they hide from us
