    This test was absolutely bullshit. Manual vs Auto? You guys have wasted a whole heap of everyones time and simply created more internet battles - I can't help but think this was your intention. 5+ seconds for the GT-F 0-100??? Do it again and do it right next time. This was a joke!

    MostlyPostie LOL stop thinking the GT-F is faster. The GTS Manual does the 0-100 time in about 4.5 and i've seen some 4.8 seconds.... So i would expect similar if not even slower numbers compared to the GT-F manual.

    you know how much work is needed for a fucking Buick/ecotec to make any sort of power? your talking block reinforcement the second you even think of putting a turbo on one, and practically everything internal needs to be changed to handle fucking 15psi, with a Barra just strap a bigger turbo on it,up the boost, 1000cc injectors, headstuds, exhaust and tune, you can make 600+KW and it wont fuck out, you need to pull your fucking head out of your arse

    Saw this posted on a forum, makes for interesting reading.Just seen this posted on AFF from a member who is an employee of Street Machine.I guess it's time for me to weigh in. I've read most of the comments and had a good laugh at some, especially at the conspiracy theory people who think that this is some kind of attack on Ford Australia. Here's how all this came about. As most know I work for Street Machine and I've been a member here for years. I play with Fords, Holden and Chryslers, if it was said that I favoured any brand it would be Chrysler but I'll play with anything. At Street Machine we share office space with Wheels, Motor and Unique cars, and I sit on the other side of the cubicle wall from the Wheels guys and the subject of the dynoing the GTS and GT-F came up. The Wheels guys asked me to recommend a workshop and I said VCM Performance. Why? Because's it's a roomy and tidy workshop with an easy to access dyno and they're friendly guys. I've filmed there before and it looks good on video. No other reason. Wheels were only going to get dyno figures for print but I suggested we film the whole thing and my boss Simon suggested I film it and we share the footage for a simultaneous release across Wheels and Street Machine because we have two different audiences. So the guys rang Mario at VCM on my advice and he was happy to do the test there. We drove the cars there and because the Ford has no intercooler we decided to put it on the rollers second to give it some cool down time. There was no fanfare, no conspiracy, just roll the cars on, test, and roll them off and film the results. Here's the Street Machine video in case you haven't seen it.kzread.info/dash/bejne/poF5l9WoZrnIobg.html As you see the GTS made 330rwkw on it's first run and it made 327rwkw on it's second run. Now I've filmed ALOT of dyno runs in the past and I saw nothing funky at all, and generally, in my experience, we'll see that the HP at the rear wheels will roughly equal the KW at the flywheel +/-5%. So when the GTS made 442.5rwhp on a claimed 430kw I didn't think that was unusual. Then we ran the GT-F on the rollers. No one expected the GT-F to beat the GTS but we felt that if it got within 20kw that would be a respectable result given the claimed 351kw. Now we all know about the "transient overboost" (stupid name) which provides up to 404kw. I was at the GT-F launch at You Yangs and I asked the engineers flat out if the car made any more boost under that condition and they admitted that it didn't. It's all in the timing based on intake heat - basically if the intake temps are too high you don't get the full output. It's as simple as that. Anyway we thought that if it made over 310rwkw or 415rwhp that would be a respectable result. First run was 308.8rwkw and the second run went 304.5rwkw and we knew it was only going to get worse if we kept going, so we let the GT-F cool down in the dyno room for 10mins or so with the dyno fan on full blast. In the true spirit on the dyno test we probably shouldn't have but we wanted to see if the FPV could get over 310rwkw. After the cool down we ran the car up again at it made the 311.3rwkw figure that everyone seems to have a problem with. So we went with the best figures of both. Maybe we should have averaged the figures, but that wouldn't help the FPV either. But we felt the Ford had performed quite well in the circumstances and having a separation of just 19kw or 25hp at the wheels showed the cars were going to be close in performance. At this point we decided to wait until Monday the 7th to release the results, which was our first mistake. We should have just gone straight back to the office, edited the footage to suit our respective audiences and let fly. Then someone gave Ford a heads up on the results and the phone lines between Ford and the Bauer media office basically caught fire. Ford were not happy and to be honest I don't really understand their problem. Yes they didn't make as much as the HSV GTS, but it was a lot closer than anyone who knew dynos thought it would be. Look at the facts: 1) Both cars were auto 2) Both cars were driven straight to VCM and run as is 3) You can't compare different brand dynos. Every business has their dyno set up differently and there's variation across brands. The only way to make a fair comparison is same day, same dyno 5) Ford has underclaimed the supercharged Miami V8 from Day 1 and this just confuses people 6) The FPV has quad cams, but is only 5-litres and has no intercooler 7) The HSV might be a pushrod V8, but it has 6.2-litres and an intercooler If Ford/FPV wanted the GT-F to be the big dog of Australian performance they should have put an intercooler in the bloody thing. We all know what a difference that makes to them. At the launch I asked why with the GT-F being the last GT Falcon and everything that went with that was it only 351kw? They said that 351 was an iconic number and they wanted to honour that, which is fine, but I said 427 is an iconic number for Ford guys as well and it would have put it more in line with the HSV GTS. There was a lot of heming and hawing and foot shuffling because they knew their car didn't have the power of the HSV GTS. But now they're claiming it makes as much as 351rwkw? Give me a break. So anyway, as we prepared to release our videos Ford threatened and pleaded with Wheels for the results to not be published (we didn't field any calls form Ford at Street Machine, maybe because Simon was in QLD). This went right to the top of the food chain at Ford. I can't say too much about all that, but there were at least a dozen calls back and forth by my reckoning. Ford claimed there must have been something wrong with GT-F-014 to make such a "low figure" and they claimed they tested it themselves and claimed they made somewhere close to 351rwkw. We at Street Machine were happy they we had given both cars a fair go and wanted to go ahead with the video Monday night, but Wheels wanted to hold back because there was more talks planned with Ford. So we decided to sit on it. Talks between Wheels and Ford continued on Tuesday morning and then about midday Motoring.com.au went to print with "their results" (suspiciously convenient) which we've all seen. So we hit the go button with both our videos. Wheels went first, and we were a couple hours later with ours because no-one was in the SM office to click go. Naturally the results differ because different dyno and different cars, but both results used the same GT-F-014 and somehow they managed 348rwkw where we managed 311rwkw, which is a huge difference in anyone's language. Why the difference? Well look at the torque figures that Motoring.com.au are claiming. They claim 721Nm for the GT-F when we all know that Ford have torque limited the GT-F (and all the previous Miami powered cars) to 570Nm. Did Ford turn the torque protection off in the software before handing the car to Motoring.com.au for their "independent test"? Who knows? It makes you wonder. At the end of the day I have no dog in this fight, we only test Fords and Holdens occasionally at SM, but what started a simple, "Hey, what do you reckon they make on the dyno?" turned into a massive **** fight. At the end of the day you have to ask yourself, without bringing brand loyalty into it, will an unintercooled 5-litre make as much power as an intercooled 6.2-litre? If Ford wanted to win this battle they just had to build the right car (ie: intercooled with 400kw+), we all wanted to see it.

This same test was done with 2 manuals a bunch of times by evomagazine and it was close enough to be driver difference, definitely not the significant difference seen here. But looking at those numbers id say the HSV was slightly quicker manual vs manual, so they technically win in my book since i prefer manual. Auto vs Auto? wouldnt be surprised if the Falcon smoked it. the ZF box tends to shit on those 9l90s or whatever they put behind the LS even if the LS is putting out more power, theyre up there with fancy DCT in terms of shift times. Falcon auto way better for skids too, you can even set up a "clutch" pedal for them these days😂

    My manual MX6 turbo (2.2L turbo, 1980s technology) runs a 13.2.. FWD, 215 street tires, with mountains of torque. A GOOD driver in a GT-F will net a low 12. You need to sack your test driver, he is useless. I volunteer.

    Ford will never end the car wars, no matter what, whether it's with performance, or reliability, the HSV is also capable of 0-100 in 4.0, though we saw 4.2 seconds, you're making it obvious the HSV would have still beat it by a second, Ford is a great car, but holden just takes it to the next level.

    I'm a Ford man but hsv put more money into there cars they had the financial part from gm so but if Ford America helped Ford Australia dam it would have been a dam good run there more stuff more tech more advancement overall it would have been great if they did that but they didn't ford did the best they could still a quick car mighty falcon be missed Holden too both be missed alot

    I own a f6 and the interior is enough for me, I don't really care for a flash interior when with 12 grand in it its pulled 490rwkw 10.12 @ 142mph and has full adj coil overs, tuned box, 6 pot front 4 pot rears, 1000hp tail shaft, trutrac. It's built to be driven, not to pretend your at home in your lounge room. Prob 80grand all up, (65g new) driven daily with 490rwkw and hasn't missed a beat in over 70thousand k's. I'll take reliability and response to basic mods over a touch screen.

    +schumifan78 yeah was on Hoosier radials. Was running 11.4s on street rubber, just couldn't grip up first 3 gears. I don't have videos on here, but I did see it once a couple years or so ago on fullboost or someone similars account when it was running 10.8x @132mph, (WSID) before the new box tunes and e85.

    Having a fast car is all great but in the real world we are not on a race track and if you do treat it as a race track you end up having the car impounded so this rivalry hasn’t really got a point to it you are paying for power you can’t legally use on a daily basis unless you want to take the car to a track and not many actually see a track I have a V8 and it rarely sees a track heck it rare sees the road

    TTR xUnsolved actually on a dyno comparison between these two cars the commodore averaged 320 kw whereas the ford averaged 345kw. This was taken over 3test runs at 2dyno centres. This points to the fact that the GTS 430kw at the box and the FPV at the wheels. They found the GTS was quicker on the track due to larger wider tyres.

    TTR Veris ur kidding me mate. The GT-F does 4.6 in auto which was done in a review and can do even better. The bloke didn’t turn traction control off and didn’t even put it into sports shift. One more thing as well. That motor in the GTS is Prehistoric. U could probably find it roots in a old HQ GTS. Ud be lucky if a conrod wouldn’t go flying out of the VF when ur pushing It. The GT-Fs motor is actually what we call in the 21st century. Falcon is just so much more refined in many ways than it’s overrated rival. At least Ford Aus tell u the truth, Holden just like to exaggerate.

    Im thinking that holden and drive.com.au have formed an aliance or something, they are definitly working together. Everyone knows the falcon would have won that. How you expect us to belive a lion is faster than a bird. A lion runs thats cool any car engine can run whilst its park haha its called idling but the falcon flies. F.O.R.D Stands for First On Race Day.     Love them both, but have to say the distance that the hsv won by doesn't really seem like it would be made up purely by a transmission. Don't visit drag strips often enough to know for sure, just my take. 6.2L supercharged vs 5.4? litre supercharged is often no contest in many equally weighted cars.

    +Brayden Haynes The GT-F has the Miami engine which is a 5 Litre 32 Valve, Quad cam, All Alloy S/C V8 now if the stock GT's with the 335kW motor (same motor different tune)all put out 315 - 330kW at the tyres STOCK and HEAVILY detuned with heaps of easy power to be made. Exhaust, Intercooler and a few other tweaks and you have a 450 - 500 kW at the tyres weapon and it's lighter than the Falcon and the ZF Auto is light years ahead of the HOLDEN Trans and also tuneable. You compare that to the Holden and it weighs a lot more and that 430kW turns into 304 - 310kW at the tyres and is pretty maxed out and is still a push rod old school motor. (not that there is anything wrong with that but for the bragging about tech etc they don't even have variable exhaust timing etc) This clip is so heavily biased which is why the magazine was forced to do it again Auto vs Auto and the HOLDEN got WHIPPED by the FORD and it was proved that the fastest Australian built car IS THE FPV GT-F!!

    Interesting bit of information you're dropping there. I'm going to have to find this auto vs auto race. But once we're talking about modifying the engines surely there is little to compare to the stock cars, I mean people are using these LS motors in drag cars pulling thousands of horsepower... I don't mean to sound like a purist, because trust me I love the sound and feel of the ford 5l over the LS series, but surely it comes down to the old age debate of "no replacement for displacement", because once both motors are built for methane and 50+ psi of boost, surely theres not much the smaller ford can do against the extra 1.2 litres of engine.. Just my speculation, look forward to a reply.

Totally Agree on the no replacement for displacement but in saying that with the modified blocks for the Coyotes including Billet now if you have the cash with a couple of turbos or a big S/C they are getting 3-3500 HP and a couple of companies now are running under 6 sec quarters so it really shows it can be done!! There are plenty of street builds \ kits pulling 1500+ HP so who knows maybe the tables are turning towards higher faster revving engines due to tech etc. the new Voodoo in the Shelby GT350R Mustang is an amazing example 5.2L Flat Plane Crank and NA......520HP from the factory stock unreal stuff!! You still have the 5.4 and 5.8L modulars too for the old displacement factor which are amazing as well. My FPV 335GT dynoed at 328kW at the tyres stock so can't complain about that👍. Sold that baby and onto the next project now though!!!

    Captain Kaos no need to be so salty that Ford Aus’ turbo 6’s shit on anything Holden can make. You can pick up an F6 for what half the Cost of the GTS? Drop a small amount of the savings into the F6 and it’d rape the GTS down the 1/4. Hell Fords turbo 6’s are better than their V8’s when it comes to bang for your buck. HSV is just overpriced trash and Holden couldn’t even make their own Motors to power their so called most powerful “Australian” car. Really the most powerful “Aussie” car should be the Xr6 Sprint.

    Just to stop all these idiots arguing I work at a drag strip and these are the stock times 0-100 for all cars mentioned in the comments FPV F6 310kw 4.97s FPV -GTF 400kw 5.09s XR6 turbo FG 270kw 4.81s GTS F 430kw 4.13s They are all fast cars Holden fans stop rubbing it in fords faces and fords fans stop hating on Holden.     I’ve got the 2014 MKII F6 and took on a 2017 GTS.. at first I thought he’d wipe the floor with me, but I was surprised from 0-90 I had him by a car length. After 100 he got me by 4-6 cars.. that was one race I was happy to lose but damn these Baras are the bomb 💪🏾

    I saw plent off fords pull numbers way better than holdens on dyno and what the maker say didnt u hear him say ford admits on a good day it can produce up too 405.kw. I seen tons off vf gts most i wver saw was a guy he had 340rwk thats that no where near the engine figure they r saying should have at least another 40rwk on top. But its not so much the power on the rwk its how ur car puts it on the ground

I had heaps off problem with the gear box diff few engine bits and peices just failing on their own and the car was 2yrs old my mates dad had it before me and that car i think has never seen 110+km on a motorway when i got it i didnt tharsh it just drove it like i do every other off my cars i got to work and from work in traffic not really that i can be a hoon and a few races it was manual tho and i think people this days get more auto not only coz its faster this that but i think manual in fords its just a little bit to shit made to be honest it doesnt feel smooth whats so ever

    Ford fanboys... Don't get upset. An 80kw 200nm deficit and a manual box, and still only less than a second off the pace? Shows how much better the Ford engine is, pound for pound!So relax and let the Holden fanboys have a little bit of a gloat, because they still have to put up with there beloved GTS being no quicker than an XR6 turbo with only a couple of thousand dollars thrown at it! And Holden fanboys... Fuck you guys can really carry on! The GTS is a $100, 000 vehicle. So it bloody well should be that fast. XR6 turbo... $37,000 brand new, add $5,000 mods= see you later! Sorry, but it's the truth. I get trounced all the time by those bloody turbos, but I can respect them, even if they are only Fords!

    Thing is you will still be in a modded taxi interior falcon that's only as fast as a gts in a straight line. Falcon will fall off the road trying to keep up with the gts when it gets twisty..
