    One thing AMS asks that I mention: our "Overkill" map is still a heavily road course-focused map that prioritizes drivability and reliability over peak power! AMS have made a lot more power on their drag car with a GTX3582R (still the same kit, just a different turbo), but obviously that sort of tuning wouldn't work so well in a time attack situation.

    For the intercooler sprayers you want to mist the IC and not soak is. The heat dissipation is from the evaporation of the the water off the IC not from the water hitting it. Think of it like jumping into a pool on a hot day. Yes jumping in cools you down(think of it as drenching your IC) but notice when you get out of the pool you're even cooler. Even though you where hot before getting into the pool. That is misting the IC. It's the evaporation off your skin that cools you so much. Plus water consumption as said before is greatly reduced for a session meaning less is needed so your hauling less weight. Water is 1 kg per liter. Thats over 8 pounds a gallon. I've tested on my TA car several nozzles to find the right about of mist and seen 20-25F drops with mist. A 25f degree increase in IAT is equivalent to driving your car car at 2500 feet vs at sea level. You where at CO you know what evelation does to power!

Not sure if BMW did change their rubber gasket suppliers but after watching your videos, with the boost and hp it made while using the Pure turbos and now using garrett turbos, has there never been any oil leaks due to oil filter housing gaskets, oil feed and drain lines to the turbos, valve cover gasket, or even the oil pan gasket?

    That is such a great idea with the windshield washer! only thing I would change, is to put the sprayers on the bottom somewhere as I fear when in motion the aero will just shoot it up into the engine.

  • @JackieDing86

    @JackieDing86

    3 жыл бұрын

    It wouldn't really shoot it into the engine, I don't think that's physically possible with where the intake for the turbo is sitting compared to the sprayers. The air moving at speed will move the mist of air evenly across the heat exchangers, however, and that should improve the cooling even more.

  • @dgrayson92027

    @dgrayson92027

    3 жыл бұрын

    I assume the mist will increase the oxidation rate of the heat exchangers, but you probably look at them often enough to have that not be a problem. You may have to add a post race cleaning step there and expect those exchangers to wear faster. Oxidation could cause a build up and make the exchangers less efficient, but you can probably wire brush it off.

  • @JackieDing86

    @JackieDing86

    3 жыл бұрын

    We tested the system with water, swapped it to windshield washer fluid for the actual use. The fluids sprayed into the heat exchangers will be evaporated long before they cause oxidation problems I think

  • @dgrayson92027

    @dgrayson92027

    3 жыл бұрын

    Jackie Ding agreed, will still increase the rate. I was going to suggest something with a lower evap temp, but trade offs, lower evap means less heAt Xfer. So many variables. Test and monitor. I doubt oxidation will ever be a concern, but I still suggest inspections.

  • @JOutterbridge

    @JOutterbridge

    3 жыл бұрын

    Depends what you use the car for. Trans/oil coolers are good insurance. The stock cooling system works fine though even with AC on. On pump gas a heat exchanger upgrade is good, on E it's not exactly needed unless you're on the track.

  • @JackieDing86

    @JackieDing86

    3 жыл бұрын

    We've done plenty of cooling upgrades. The AMS front heat exchanger really helped keep the intake air temps in check, otherwise the car at over 450 whp would start pulling timing and losing power on track pretty significantly over a few laps. The Koyorad auxillary coolers are very helpful in keeping the coolant temps in check, so the next on the list is an oil cooler. There is a factory trans cooler located in front of the big heat exchanger, and that's been working fine.

    I do not like that they make the 6 to 2 of the exhaust manifold inside the cylinder head, it makes the ducts very difficult to work, the cylinder head heats up much more, the only advantage is that you have more space, but the engine cylinder head is also larger , the new type r has the same system, it makes the 4 to 1 on the cylinder head.
