Having worked in a lumberyard we sold mostly #1 SYP for framing. From time to time we would have a call for long(20-24') 2X material. I never saw it milled until now......HF!!!! How awesome! That last slab is mind blowing!

Are the setworks for the new carriage computerised ? I don't see the laser line for the saw line either. These vids that you posted with the huge fir logs being sawn were awesome. The turning arms to turn the logs must be very powerful to turn those big monsters. If the log was being turned using a log turning device (formerly called the "N" word), the head on the log turner or it's cylinder would get bent. I know as I've have seen it happen and it was a steam powered log turner.

Amazing technology! Still surprising there is a guy with a flimsy pipe pole trying to direct 1000lb slab of wood as a job.

Not to many of these huge log cutting mills left. They cut a lot of lumber out of that tree.

That is one hellofa sophisticated sawmill you have. The ability to move material, make various cuts concurrently, plus that little crosscut saw used to cut to length let alone the monster to cut timber to length, not mentioning the ability to move laterally the weight of the wood and accuracy your ably to attain, let ALONE! the quality of personnel - to operate and maintain the shop - holy schmoley. Wow. Good on yuh!!

Impressive for a lot of reasons. 60' log number 1. But you are still getting a good yield. The only thing I cringed at is when you are going for that cut for yield on the big end that blade going through bark and whatever. Length is money. (That's what she said)

Are those logs 2nd growth or are they still harvesting old growth Douglas Fir trees? As far as I know, there is not a whole lot of the original old growth timber left.

Those logs are second-growth, probably 80 - 110 years old. Born in the first half of the 20th century.

I'm guessing you are the edgerman? Since all your clips are from that angle... if love to see a clip from the Sawyers position if possible! Last time I went through in 18' you still had the old carriage. Time before that was still on steam when I went in 07
