I was surprised that a poncho was not among the essentials to pack, since Florida is almost always at risk for sudden rain showers, ponchos in the parks are crazy expensive and ponchos are compact and lightweight.

If it's just the daily shower I don't bother (I travel ultralight - cargo shorts, no bag). In the Florida heat I'm dry in 60 minutes.

The funny thing most people don’t realize is that you can’t take them on rides either. I’ve also heard of a lot people who tie them to strollers often come back after a ride and find that their $30 balloon is missing. And if your kid thinks they can take them home on the plane, they’ll be very disappointed.

For a WDW trip you need the biggest bag you have with you and leave it half full on the vouyage there. Why? Cause you are likely to pick up bulky things that are expencive to ship home rather than carry in the checked in baggage. Things like dolls, cos play costumes, souvernirs and lightsabers could come with a huge cost to sent home internationally. Its far more conveint to keep an extra bagspace for them. Johan.

  • @Chaotic_Pixie

I'm not even international and I always bring an extra bag flattened in the bottom of our one free checked bag. My husband and I generally share a carry-on (swimsuits, change of clothes, & electronics/chargers plus snacks) so if we overdo it on souvenirs or I just can't be bothered to as neatly pack the suitcase with dirty clothes as I did clean, then I can use the flattened carry-on. That said, if you can wash your clothes before you leave, its so much nicer when returning home! And you don't feel defeated by trying to pack dirty clothes efficiently that you're just going to have to unfold and wash when you get home.

We had groceries delivered to our resort through Amazon Prime Now (Cabins at Fort Wilderness) back in July. No charge appeared on our room bill. Also, a lovely, lovely bell services gentleman offered to drive us to our cabin. Naturally, we tipped him. I definitely recommend calling the resort in advance.

As someone who works for Shipt grocery delivery in the Orlando area, I'd like to put in one thing here for our alcohol delivery - the Orlando area has alcohol delivery as one of it's test areas (as of 02/02/20), and this includes getting them to the Disney resorts. We are required by the company to get a signature of the user on delivery, as well as seeing a valid ID that proves over 21. If you are not a US resident, then a Passport works (though you might need to show some shoppers where it is in there, as not everyone is familiar with what passports look like in the US). Ultimately the app requires us to get it, and it is known that we can/will be dropped by Shipt, and possibly prosecuted under the law, if we're found not getting the proper ID and signatures for delivery, or are knowingly delivering to someone under 21. If you let the shopper know ahead of time you might not be able to pick up the alcohol yourself, let them know who to look for - however, no matter who recieves the delivery, they must be over 21 and have their own ID with them. No having a child with the parent's ID in their hands, that will not fly. If the person trying to recieve the delivery cannot prove they themselves are over 21 then the driver is to return the alcohol to the store, and the user will still be charged the purchase price. Basically, if you use it, just follow the law. Don't be stupid and try to be slick.

Most of the Walmart stores near Disney have the grocery pick up option now which makes it even easier. Pick out what you want, set a pick up time, they'll bring everything out and load it into the car, done. Don't have to get out of the car and there isn't an extra fee from Walmart so it wouldn't even take 1-2 hours. They open pick up slots well in advance too.

@@johansl9604 January is a very affordable time to go February a little more expensive than January in January though many ride refurbishments take place so make sure the rides you're most looking forward to will be operational so you don't get disappointed. January is the coldest month in Florida more or less but still much warmer than the Netherlands. You'll be much more comfortable walking around in our winter than our summer. Going along with the purse/bag thing; something I love are mini backpacks. I have a loungefly one (they have so many Disney themed ones and sell them in the parks) and they are so handy! They aren’t too big but they can fit quite a lot. When I go on faster rides I’ll loop the straps around my legs so as long as my feet are on the ground, my bag is safe. On water rides I like to wear it on the front of my body under my poncho, so my stuff stays dry😊

Also possibly available at the pools: those foam noodles. Last fall at the Boardwalk's quiet pool, they had plenty of those noodles available poolside for any who wished to take advantage. Don't know about the main pool - it is much busier and too many of those noodles could take up too much space in heavily populated areas of the pool, so they may only be available at the quiet pools. It was a nice touch, though, along with plenty of complimentary beach towels poolside as well - no need to carry anything but a book and sunglasses to the pool (sunscreen already applied, of course!).

Then email/call hotel and they will enter info on computer. ( Hikers on major trails send boxes ahead via U.S.Mail all the time.). On the way back home, I visited nearest Post Office (had rental car, but Uber works) and mailed winter items (and dirty clothes) back. This way boxes remained at home Post Office (slip was in my mailbox) till I returned and I only had carry on!!
