Tip for issues with your kid's height: if your child is too short to ride FOP, use the standby line. By the time you make it to the front, they'll be 14.

"Remember the Cast Members" I actually work at Universal Orlando and not Disney World but this actually made me start crying. Being a Team Member is such a hard job and I know a quite few Cast Member friends who feel the same about their jobs because of how bad some days at work can be and having somebody remember that we do our best to make the trips special and encouraging others to remember this and do the same means so much to me. Thank you so much.

I'd love this myself -- I'm seriously thinking of WDW for our 30th wedding anniversary, and I'll be 62 while my husband will be pushing 65. We've in California and have done Disneyland/California Adventure several times, but this will likely be our only trip to the Florida Parks. Thinking of at least 10 days so we can build in some rest/resort days just to pace ourselves. How long in advance can you actually make the hotel reservations? I'm thinking of a late April 2021 (anniversary is on the 27th) trip so would April 2020 be too early to start the reservation process? I'll probably go with Small World Vacations to help with the planning and such.

The one tip most people forget to mention is that if you or someone in your party has a disability, head over to guest relations on the first day of visiting the parks to get set up for a disability pass. My fiancé and I walked a total of 7-8 hours per day the last time we went. We didn’t have any rain during our trip and W we are pretty active people, but still ended up with water blisters on our feet! My advice is to pack extra pairs of socks to change into when you’re in the park.. I think some sweaty toes lead to most of our problems! I saw someone have a little fabric sack with dryer sheets in them to help with the socks you’re taking off.

Alex C hey there! I have similar conditions (especially social anxiety, Walmart is a DISASTER for me) but the wonderful thing about Disney is that it’s so far removed from reality that much of that anxiety is suppressed for me when I visit. Granted, I’ve only been to Disneyland in California, but I’ve booked a trip for this coming December! Also, there’s lots of quiet places that are nicely removed from the masses to just sit and relax or watch the crowd and just calm down. Also, I go later in the day (afternoon-closing), so many of the kids who scream are gone! That’s helpful. Finally, Disney has so many accommodations that they’re willing to make to help you enjoy your stay. I’d suggest going. It’s a great experience, especially if you’re a Disney fan!! The best advice I can give you if you are prone to anxiety but want to go, is do what you can, and don’t worry about what you cannot. I hope you can get there someday and it is a great experience for you!

FWIW...don’t let that stop you, if you ever do want to try it. My partner and I both have adhd, anxiety, depression. I have C-PTSD as well. We have a blast at the parks regardless. It’s all about pacing ourselves, building in plenty of downtime, and knowing where the quiet spots are when we are feeling overstimulated. We go less often than a lot of people, but we stay at the Deluxe resorts for the ease of transportation. It’s easy to relax knowing that if we are Done we can make a quick escape back to the resort. We always take midday breaks and make time for table service meals in quieter venues to decompress out of the heat and we stay hydrated constantly with the free ice water. And of course we plan our fastpasses judiciously so we never stand in line longer than 20 minutes. No matter what your challenges it’s very possible to enjoy yourself at Disney World without being overwhelmed.

I have severe PTSD and my daughter has social anxiety but going to a park after dark in the winter months almost never causes an issue for us. I highly agree with Liz, it’s so far removed from reality that I almost feel normal. I do have a bit of trouble going during the day and busy hours. I can’t go to a traditional grocery store or mall , but I can do Disney on a slower evening. One thing we tried recently is an “after hours” party . It’s pricy but for me , it was worth it. they only sell a limited amount of tickets for the park (each park has one on different nights) and you can walk on most rides. It’s like having a park to yourself. WE LOVED IT!

We rented a double stroller in 2017 from an outside company. They delivered it to the campground(Ft. Wilderness) and then at the end, we simply dropped it off. Cost us like $75 for the week. The thing about strollers, though, is when you park them at the parks to go on a ride, cast members WILL move it. Yes, WILL move it so don't expect it to be in the same spot where you left it. This can be quite unnerving and annoying. After riding Pirates of the Caribbean, took me 15 minutes to find our stroller.

  • @Dashzap
    @Dashzap5 жыл бұрын

re: rental strollers/ECVs, if you rent from an outside company, Disney has authorized providers listed on their website. Disney lets those authorized providers drop strollers/ECVs off at your resort before you arrive and pick it up after you leave, so you don't need to be there to meet them.

They're super comfortable, not as slippery as flip flops, light and easy to shove into a backpack, and (here's the important part) they dry quickly. For those rainy days or water rides, you really can't beat them. And if you need to wear sneakers for most of your trip, you can change back into them as soon as it dries up.

Definitely start walking ahead of time if your not used to walking a lot. We did a 5 night stay first day we went to Disney Springs and then one park a day there after. We went the first week of April and the weather was really comfortable not to hot or cold. Magic Kingdom was the only park that was super crowded.

Regarding Mobile Ordering, if you have someone with a allergy, I would consider placing that order separately from the rest of the group. I don’t know if it’s this way everywhere, but I placed a large order at Flame Tree BBQ with one of the orders being a gluten free sandwich. I received the notification that my order was ready and proceeded to the counter. I was told to move to a different counter for pickup because of the gluten free portion of the order. Apparently they needed to physically discuss the nature of the order with me. After that, I probably waited 20 min for my food. I don’t think they actually processed any of my order until that conversation happened. To avoid this in the future, I will just be making the gluten free order separately.

If flying; set up Magic Express! (Give Disney your flight info) Disney will ship bag tags for you to apply to your luggage. Then when you arrive at MCO airport, Disney will pick up your bags and take them to the resort for you... of course your bags will arrive at the resort behind you by a few hours, so have your magic bands in your carry on. Have a magical trip!

These are all great ideas! Watching the movies is a great idea! We always did that to "get in the mood" but we knew most of the movies and characters. But then we rented Avatar from the library before our last trip and my son loved it - no one in our family had ever seen it before. I am glad we did. The land and attractions meant so much more to us and our son could get excited when he recognized things in the land.

All these tips are very good. I've been to Disney World three times now only because I have a friend who is a DVC member. And we're planning a trip here this year to get my mom and dad there with my niece due to them not being able to go when we had a big trip two years ago. We just had a meeting this past weekend to go over a lot of this stuff that this video covers. Yet I know there will still be more stuff that people don't expect on these trips. And I know there's stuff that I still want to do and have not done even after three other two trips there.

From a former transportation cast member, I would actually NOT recommend having an ECV delivered to your resort unless you truly need it to get to your room and back. They're difficult to maneuver onto buses, especially if you're not used to using one, and you may have to wait an additional twenty minutes or so for a second bus if there are other guests on wheels headed to the same destination.

The shoes tip is DEFINITELY a good tip! Might I make my own recommendation of New Balance sneakers. I wore mine all over Disney World in December and bringing them was one of the best decisions I made for my trip. Break them in for sure, but for me, they were so comfortable and worth it.

My husband loves New Balance -- he was able to wear black ones for work before he retired (he drove a bus for almost 30 years) and he still swears by them. I have to wear really wide shoes and I've found a brand called Drew which are really sturdy but also comfortable. I have them in both white and black.

Totally agree with linking your magic band with your Park tickets before you go! We all arrived at the airport once and my sister forgot her wallet! This is not as uncommon as one would think. TSA was able to clear her with special questions, I was able to print her ticket because I paid for her airfare with MY credit card and she was able to get into the Parks because her magic band was linked before the trip! The food plan was on her band as well. Of course, we had a friend FedEx her wallet to the hotel, but it saved so much time having her Disney Magic Band all linked and ready to go!

Another tip: pack your purse the night before you leave, or leave important items in a spot right by the door. I usually carry my wallet in my front jeans pocket (safe from pickpockets); linking the Magic Band to the credt card will mean less cash I need to carry around.

You are so right about the MDE app and making sure everybody is on there and you are all linked together. As the unofficial Disney vacation planner in our family I got burned on this once, the first time, and was trying to make fastpasses for 2 different families, trying to find overlapping time slots for the fastpasses because we couldn't figure out how to link our accounts. It does take some time and synchronizing to get this all working right but definitely worth it! Also, note that I think you have to reside in the US for them to mail out your magicbands, otherwise you will have to pick them up at the front desk, but they will be all synced up and ready to go.

I was looking back to see if you had a video all on the character dining options and didn’t see anything. I would love to see a video all about the different character meals, pros and cons, etc. We’ll be there the first week of December with my will be 5 year old twins, and would love to try some different character meals. We’ve done Chef Mickey’s but are also looking for the ones without all the masked characters as my autistic son was very opposed to them last summer when we went for their 4th birthday.

If you don't worry about riding EVERY ride, especially the big ones, you might be able to get by, or if you have the freedom to take an extra long trip (I'm thinking at least 10 days so we can build in rest/resort days). But I think the resort is large enough that at least some thought about what park you want to do on which day is a good idea.

Also when you're traveling out of town this goes for when you leave your local County or municipality you can call your local police department or Sheriff's Office let them know you're going out of town and they will have an officer or Deputy drive by your house to check on it while you're gone all you have to do is Google your local non-emergency number and let that person know what you would like to do and where you're going for how long and you would like a welfare check and they will do that just a fun fact.

If you're an apartment dweller (like me and my husband) let your rental office (and security if they have it on sight) know so they can keep an eye out for suspicious activity (you can do it when you drop off your rent check if you're going to be gone past the deadline). If it's going to be a long trip have your mail held at the post office and pick it up there when you get back.
