    Can you make a complete video of an interviewer asking every question possible they might ask in a job interview. To be on the safe side and be prepared for absolutely any question, and maybe give a few tips. It'd be the perfect video to watch and prepare for interviews. Tips would be better then you answering them yourself like you do in your other videos. Since thered be alot of question and its needs to be relative to any and all jobs as possible.

    I just nailed an interview and got a job offer thanks to Erin. I followed all of her advice and did everything she suggests in this clip. During orientation my supervisor who was showing me the job was also one of the interviewers so I asked him why I was hired. I told him I was part of an online support group and would share his answer if he did not mind. He said it was fine. They interviewed around 12 people and hired 1. He said and I quote him here. “You interviewed well.” I was not expecting that. I thought it would be my experience (28 years) Or my professionalism. Nope. It was my interview skills. Thank you Erin.

    I recently interviewed for my first job in my field coming out of grad school (debt-free!), and to prepare, I watched every video of Erin's I could find on resume-writing, job applications, interviewing, and salary negotiation. Long story short, I landed the job!!! Not only that, but using Erin's advice, I was able to negotiate them up by $5k/year during the interview process, even though I was already at the top end of their budget. These videos were a huge help in learning how to navigate the process, and they relieved so much of my anxiety. She really knows her stuff. Thank you, Erin!!!

    Having good questions is vital - you should always have at least 6 questions ready that are well thought up and not cookie-cutter. My formula is: - 2 questions that pick out specific requirements from the job description (shows you've throughly read the JD and are probably more familiar with it that the hiring manager) - 2 more general questions about the role & team - 2 more general questions about the company and culture

    I've been enjoying your shorts for a while and this is the first long form video that I watched. So many people who make content in this category sound like they are reading a script or basically giving a PPT presentation. It can get annoying and feel disingenuous. This felt like chatting with a friend who knows their stuff, or someone who works at the company that is giving you the inside scoop, and that takes a lot of talent to pull off. Great job!

But now I've gone to interviews for several companies and used the advice, now all 3 gave me offers! 2 of them were nice and casual, one was tough and grilling, so it was certainly a surprise the 3rd one offered in the end! I love your videos so much!! I'm already a month in of job hunting and so far I've got 2 over the phone initial interviews. The 2nd one, however, was a disaster, I feel like I could have done better. I wish I'd seen this video sooner. Your content has been really helpful, even before I started job hunting. So, about the last interview, a lot of factors contributed to what I felt like a poor interview. For one, they had me wait for an hour due to some technical difficulties, which was really unfortunate. Anyway, this is getting a little bit long, but I wanted to ask you, how can I feel not rushed in an interview? Even though I wanted to respect their time, it's just that every time I look at the interviewer they look like they are rushing and so I feel rushed as well. How do I deal with this? I want to do my best.

    Any advice if you get a job offer but still have some interviews in the upcoming week? Don't want to accept the first offer in case the other offer is better, but also no guarantee will even get the second offer. How do you allow yourself time to potentially hear back from the 2nd company without it making the 1st company think that you're hesitant or not interested in their offer? Thanks ❤

    Had an interview which would allow me to move to Germany and flip my life around (my country is neither in the EU nor in the EEA). Magna Cum Laude graduate, *three* internal recommendations (one of whom is a good friend) including the department head after one of the interviews, stellar compliments throughout the interview process and received excellent feedback on the practical assessment. They shut the offer after the last interview phase before our would-be contract negotiation. I don't think I've recovered from that yet and it's left a deep wound. If this wasn't enough, then what will be? All this for a developer role.

    Hello Erin! First of all - thank you for the great video, it was really useful! Could you please share your advice - how would you react to a situation where the recruiter, during the interview says that they feel like your competences are too high for the role you apply for? I felt like I was a good match for one position, got invited for the interview, was very well prepared, but now - after receiving this type of feedback during the conversation, I am really afraid that it won't end positively for me... Any advice on how to respond to similar feedback/react in the future? Once again - thank you for your videos, they are super useful and full of really great tips!

    That’s a slippery slope they are hesitant you will be bored and leave.. I went through this 3 times and I left shortly after taking the jobs the coworkers were envious I had college degree.( and thought I wanted the supervisor job or theres) Its very hard to fit in with people who know they have no other job options and they resent you.. I was also a maid I just needed a job… Don’t be discouraged just apply where you can GROW not slowly die on the vine 💥

    I saw this video at the perfect time. I’m at the age where I’m trying to get my first job and I’m not sure how to act or what to say in an interview. Today my mom and I sat down and looked at the applications for the job but it turned out that they stopped receiving them last night at midnight. We sent an email to try to ask if it’s to late but I’m not sure what to do even if it’s not to late and they actually accept it.

    Not Erin of course but have experience on both these spaces. There are a few key things hiring managers want to know; you’re trainable, show up on time for shifts ready to work, your open to take on other shifts as available (indicating flexibility), and friendliness to customers. Lean into these as much as are naturally you. These qualities serve well in these industries. Good luck!!

    What if you call back to follow up on an application and the store director tells you they saw your application but got side tracked and they tell you they may call again tomorrow and if not then you must be the one to call them back? Im my case the store director is doing the interview not HR. Not sure if this is only for local stores where im from… Im a little suspicious to call them back if I dont get a call but im doing it anyway. This video on the other hand was still very helpful!❤

    @@donnabu Responding in case you encounter this situation in the future. I think it's less important about the directions they gave you, and more important that they are basically revealing to you that they have poor time management and will put the responsibility on you to do their job. I hope this works out, but one of the most important things when job seeking is to evaluate the employer every step of the way so that you can begin to understand the work culture as soon as possible. Personally, I have turned down jobs many times because of red flags. Your description of what is happening is not the biggest red flag, but it should make you approach with caution.

    How do I address a 6 year work gap bc I was a caregiver? Thanks

  • @dereka5017

    @dereka5017

    6 ай бұрын

    First off...kudos to you for being a caregiver. Especially in these days, that is such a gift! Secondly, it depends on what industry you're applying to. If it's an industry that doesn't require specialized skills, just an individual who's sharp and enthusiastic, focus less on the hard skills and more on the soft skills that would complement the job. For instance, if the job is in customer service, bring up how you volunteer for the local church or hospital once a week, so you're always interacting positively with the public. If they're looking for a specific proficiency in, say, Microsoft Excel, share how you are naturally curious and motivated and self-taught yourself on the ins and outs of Microsoft Word. Or maybe you learned a language or two in your spare time. Anything to show that when you're motivated to learn, you follow through, and can therefore easily pick up the requirements of the job. There's really no reason having been a caregiver for 6 years should preclude you from such jobs. On the other hand, if it's in an industry with specialized skills, that's much more difficult, because it's assumed that your skills have fallen off, or that you're not familiar with updated practices. One avenue is to pursue a less stringent role and then work your way up once you've proven yourself in that role. Really *look* at areas slightly outside your job description where you can help out. Initiative is huge, just make sure you're being a boon and not an over eager annoyance. Alternatively, you can demonstrate that you've kept up on those skills, practically or academically, while in your caregiver capacity. Thirdly, people underestimate the power of personality. If you show up to an interview slightly early, are courteous and personable, appear well put together, and are honest with your resume holes, but also demonstrate why those holes won't impact your performance (or at least your plan to circumnavigate them), an interviewer is going to *look* for reasons to hire you. For inspiration, a friend of mine was a Branch Manager at a bank in her early twenties, then took 18 years off to be a stay at home mom to them. She just recently took her first job as a bookkeeper, something she had some experience in when she was younger, but brushed up on lately to land the job. While she didn't quite fit their bill, she won them over with her personality and proactive approach. Best of luck!
