I am a fan on VIVA products, 10 year warranty, in 5 years I have had 2 only call them once, there service desk is great and professional. Part went faulty, no quibble, new one sent next day!!!

Cheers for this video, just watching it enabled me to repair my existing Viva Skylo without having to buy a replacement by just removing it, cleaning it and adjusting the flush settings,. Previously it would leak into the bowl after the inital flush and so requiring an additional tap on the push button every time, Brilliant.

James, amazing videos mate!!! Our toilet has been “mooing” for months and was pissing the other half off royally. I’m useless with anything like this, but watching your videos made it look easy and wow it was!!! I’ve actually fixed something. One thing to confused me was my replacement donut which was a lot thinker than the previous one, I decided to use the old donut and flushed the bog and water was pissing everywhere. Luckily I went ahead and used the new donut and clamped it tight with the wingnuts and boom. Smashed it. Keep up the good work, find myself watching all your videos now!!!

I unscrew the pump off a cheap disposable liquid soap dispenser, add a length of tubing and pump it out. I use this for anything that needs a liquid removing from tight spots. Now a subscriber to your channel. Learning a lot from your vids, as I'm a diy'er.

Good trick to remove the water... Use a tile grouting sponge, it soaks up more water than a normal sponge! Works like a charm!

Sponge is best for it, easier to cary than wet vac.

@@plumberparts I use a large syringe and length of silicone tube to draw the remaining water out of the cistern 😃

A nice tip when re-tightening the wing nuts, is to put a spirit level on top of the cistern to make sure it's level. Last thing you want is a wonky cistern.

Thanks James, great video as always. I'd never really thought of disconnecting the cold feed at the iso if possible before. If you are not changing the fill valve at the same time doing this would save disturbing this joint and creating another problem for yourself, especially if the fill valve has a plastic shank! p.s. Are you going to be at Installer 2019 this year?

I always test the cistern for leaks before I put it back. Just an inch or two in the bottom. Those little hold down screws can be leaky unless you use a bit of silicone.

Hi James. Great demo. Could the problem also be with the assy where the inlet water comes in and this part acts as a stop valve when the water reaches it’s top? Thanks in advance.

Hi Enjoyed this video as had this model installed recently, was converted from an older style ballcock and lever siphon. When the flush valve is adjusted to maximum flush there is still about 20 mm of water left on the cistern floor before it starts to refill. Is this ok? as I thought it should have only left a tiny amount of water before refilling. Thanks

If you were to redesign a basic central heating system with total maintenance in mind (radiator isolation, all joints above floor etc) how would you do it?

Did I hear you say use thread seal when reconnecting the copper compression joint? I know you won't put ptfe tape around the threads but I have seen you wrap it around an existing in situ olive. So what do you do to ensure a good remove & refitted compression joint James?

I’d tend to use jointing compound. But a few PTFE wraps for the DIYer will work just fine.

Hi, I install one of these Viva valves and it does not reseat when pushing the big button flush only. However, it does when I push both buttons (this the long flush?). Why is this? It is a brand new unit and the inlet valve is also brand new. Thanks. Great videos James!!

I like the viva gear. Just a shame that screwfix only have about 4 or six of their products and currently it's next day. Got the same siphon and their awesome brass fill valve on the van, ready for the next one. I didn't know they had their own clamp though, I sat there for ages filing one bigger one evening.

great video, fun to watch, but it didn't solve my problem, and the problem is after I've flushed the valve won't close, only by thumbing the cabinet several that the valve closes I've inspected the flush valve and everything looks ok, do I need to get a new flush or what?

Hi, I nearly asked this question on your other channel before I realised. Is there such a thing as a reliable Vokera boiler? I lived in my current property in Sunderland which is a 3 bedroom bungalow of modest size. We have a Vokera boiler fitted in May 2017. It was fine at first. But it is losing preasure slowly but sometimes it raises a little too. We can not find any leaks any where in the property although my cats seem to like napping under the boiler in our kitchen. It also randomly cuts out and goes to a red light but usually fires back up if we reset the boiler. A few weeks back. It became more reluctant to reset and started flashing red light rather than a steady light. Seems to be when we need the boiler most, it cuts out especially if we turn it all the way up. We recently had an engineer out from Vokera under warrenty as it locked out again and will not reset. The was no resistance in the switch at all and the red light would not go off when we turned it to standby. Our landlords plumber seemed a bit clueless. Turned out the wire from the back of the switch has come off. It been reconnected up. But still now and then goes onto the red solid light. Also, the last 2/3 weeks the water seems to be luke warm rather than hot and seems to be taking longer to warm up than usual. We used to live in a larger bungalow down in Hartlepool. Which was the first time we have had a Vokera boiler. It was a different model and it was forever breaking down and making strange noises. We had a slumlord at the time. Not a landlord. He was a piss head. I say WAS as he commited suicide after we moved out of his property for what he tried to do with my wife while I was working away near Cambridge. He had the plumber out that many times, it got to the point the plumber blocked his number, condemed our boiler and capped off the gas and not returned. Only for the landlord to get someone who knows a bit about plumbing to reconect the gas and changed something in the boiler and the landlord taken away the carbon monoxide detector away. I have not come across a reliable Vokera boiler yet.

@@plumberparts Actually lever operated toilets are still made like for e.g the Armitage Shanks Sandringham 21, Twyford Option and many traditional close coupled and low level toilets are still made with the lever like the Silverdale Victorian for e.g. If you want to buy a lever flush toilet with a syphon flush valve, maybe take a little look at the Twyford Option or Armitage Shanks Sandringham 21. Both offer a choice between 4 or 6 litre and come with the syphon flush valve. @@Toiletmediaxp I reckon at least 50% of the push button toilets in the UK are passing right now to some degree. Toilets with syphons and levers don't pass.

@@stevo0861 Which is a shame sadly because I find push button systems wear out after after 10 years or so while you can go with a traditional syphon which works better and lasts longer and is straight forward to fix while push button units can be a right head ache. To be honest your better off with a toilet with a lever with syphon.

The viva flush system I always have to press the flush for about 5 seconds for my toliet to flush properly why is that. I have adjusted the flush levels on both full and half flush many times but nothing any ideas?

The best way to get the water out of the cistern is to use a manometer tube or a small bit of hose pipe and syphon the rest of the water into a bucket or the pan.

I always replace all the seals when doing this including the ones on the cistern to pan bolts. The one seal you don't change is the one that leaks. Old seals don't like being disturbed

Can you tell me how high the overflow should be? You explain how to adjust it up or down, but no explanation of the proper height position. I ask because I’ve fixed my new system, but it continues to overflow into the toilet basin.

How do you service the flush unit?

hope I never have to take the cistern off one of those toilets after a long time how can you get a hacksaw under there?

When the seal is not tight enough due to the spring, how to tighten the spring or change the spring?

When are you moving in? LOL

Close coulpled through bolts I like them ones. I hate the metal plate close coulpled toilet that don't have the through bolts.

Those penny valves/ballofix valves can be a nightmare for leaking if messed around with to much.

I would love to get a flush valve/siphon change over that easy. I usually get the ones where some dickhead has siliconed the cistern to the wall and where the connecting bolts are so rusty that I have to lay on the floor and cut them off. Oh, how I laugh!

Jesus James, no wonder you're raking it in....You could have just changed the flush seal. In case you needed the part number, that one is Ideal standard SV01967 🤣

james lovin the video but its not like this in real world when you turn up and the fixing bolts are rusted to bits and you end up having to take toilet out and hacksaw the bolts off

can anyone advise me why the pipes near my toilet vibrate like no mans business after the toilet is flushed when it's filling up? Is it the float valve or could it be the plastic isolation valve on the cold water supply to the toilet?

Change the inlet valve to get rid of that. Viva do a great one with a brass connection for about £8 or £12 for a universal one. Fit a new fibre connector washer at the same time as it will no doubt have perished.

@@halogenlamp2 yeah cheers mate. I only changed the float valve and it's gotten rid of the water hammer. I believe this is what you get when you fit cheap plastic parts especially in toilet systems.

richard chapman a lot of diy people love the stuff. Getting stuffed under slotted basin wastes, it turns to gunk when constantly wet. Not hygienic. You don’t see it on site thankfully

@@j4bberwocky1 Haha no doubt some deal going on there with evo-stick. I cant think of a single application I would use it over a good quality silicone.

I use a Sponge to remove water from Cistern.

Real plumbers just flush it and take off the citern use the toilet roll to mop the floor up it’s not like it’s a lot it’s only a little splash
