    Just about finished with my diy ledge and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Been working on it for a day, currently sealing it. Next project: rock formations 😁

    @@jordynbarnes7721 How I got my parents on board was showing them that I’m responsible I had a stuffed animal in a cardboard box and took care of it for a while and then they let me get mine. Also a suggestion go to a reptile Expo if corona isn’t too bad near you and hold them and show them how cute they are.

    If only all these beginning care guides mentioned prices. I'd really like to get a crested gecko, but I doubt I could afford it. I could spring for a modest lizard itself, but idk about all the gear and food and stuff

    If you do not plan on feeding crickets to your gecko and just plan on strictly using the Pangea or Repashy diets, do you still need the Calcium Plus supplement? Might be a stupid question, I know. But I plan on getting a crestie when I move early next year and I'm only going to be using the prepared powder diets.

    Hey brian, do you think 5.5g is an acceptable weight for a juvenile of 7 months? I'm looking at a gecko from a local breeder and for 7 months he/she seems small. From the pictures the gecko looks alert, no discharge or other noticeable issues

    My crested gecko won't eat off a ledge and only eats if the bowl is on the floor, is that normal? When I got him he was nearly a year old and was being kept in a critter keeper with the food bowl on the foor.

  • @AltitudeExotics

    @AltitudeExotics

    That is normal! Different geckos can have different preferences.

    I have two leopard geckos and I also want to get a crested gecko but I am using my own money and I am wondering how much money do you spend getting Pangea for one month ( one gecko)

  • @emmettrose5960

    Personally, I keep Mourning Geckos, not Cresties, but they still eat CGD (just in slightly smaller amounts). CGD generally goes bad after 6mo at room temp, 12mo refrigerated. I have Repashy CGD and two flavours of Pangea, cost me $9 a bag/bottle and buy more every 2-3 months. If you have 3 types, I’d say around $9/month on average for one crestie, less if you buy bigger bags/bottles. (Not accounting for insects)

    Great advice but in another video you claimed to have never mist your cresteds ever, but instead use a humidifier and waterbowls?

  • @AltitudeExotics

    @AltitudeExotics

    4 жыл бұрын

    That is correct. With as many cages as we have it's much easier and makes more sense to control the humidity for the facility as a whole rather than thousands of individual cages. For most people spraying the tanks is the more logical option.

    I would have to disagree about the calcium powder; calcium carbonate is an antacid (think Tums). An acidic environment is needed to absorb calcium, but calcium carbonate raises the pH. I use calcium citrate capsules- calcium in this form (or calcium gluconate) is more readily absorbed.

    Would the mossy vines be a hazard for the geckos to possibly eat? Ive seen the plain black jungle vines with no moss. I know nothing about geckos so sorry if it’s a weird question! Thank you!!

  • @pewpewcat7679

    @pewpewcat7679

    No. I'm putting some in my terrarium as well. You can diy vines by getting some natural rope and coating it in aquarium safe silicone (has to be 100% silicone without fungicides and that stuff) and then pat eco earth on. Let cure for at least 24 hrs but I would let it air out at least 3 days if not maybe longer (I air sealed and glued stuff for about a week to be safe) and then you're good to go. Mossy vines are cool too though, some of them will "come back to life" and look very nice.
