Until then, we’re here to tell you EVERYTHING you need to know about the best clothing out there, from the highest quality raw denim jeans to the warmest jackets to the sturdiest boots…the Iron Snail has got you covered. Ralph Lauren has been doing that factory distressed, look for years. Always replicated never duplicated Ralph has been the originator of it. The polo jacket fits perfectly.

This is exactly how I like to build my outfits. I love finding vintage pieces because I feel like it’s especially important to think of ourselves as stewards of meaningful objects instead of owners and then we throw it away. If something is already well work or broken in I can become the steward of it for the time being and write my own story with how I use and wear it and it can be passed on. Good stuff!

Man you really threw me back in time wearing those boy scout pants. When I was a boy scout, I used to shop at one of their stores that had a bunch of surplus vintage BSA clothing. I was only a teenager then, so I never had the foresight to nab any of the vintage. Boy Scouting truly changed the trajectory of my life, and it really breaks my heart to see how low the organization has fallen. Maybe I was just one of the lucky boys that never got m0l3st3d.

Don’t know if you already passed this stage of your vintage denim jackets collecting, but next to Wrangler jackets being the most underrated got to be Lee storm rider and rider jackets. Especially if you get one in a regular length and not a long 🤌. 90s RRL has some very similar homage pieces to rider jackets while being made in USA or Japan as well which are pretty sweet if you can’t find a good vintage example I don’t want them to get discovered for the sake of them being more expensive but at the same time, I can’t believe it’s so hard to find a Japanese brand to make a faithful reissue of them (not longer like ironheart)

Woah Michael, that Polo jacket is fairly similar to one I recently bought off Grailed. Mine has western embroidery on both pockets (Type 2 layout) but the fascinating part is it has two back cinches on both sides where theres normally those button adjustors. The leather patch is barely recognizable but it reads "Polo Western".

About 25 years ago I found a half length leather jacket, black, button up, big collar, in a thrift store. It was seemingly almost unworn. I bought it for £30 I think. When I got home I found a receipt in the top pocket which said it was bought in 1979. I wore the crap out of it. Eventually a seam went in the sleeve and the lining frayed. I got it re-lined but the tailor forgot about the seam in the sleeve. I put in a box and it’s still somewhere in the house. Some day I will dig it out, get it cleaned up and fixed and return to my early 20s, louche and possibly criminal looking but in a cool 1970s way, self.

Hey, you are finally wearing wide pants. Good for you. It's good to try out different styles. A lot of "real men clothes" types (especially Americans) believe that "real men" should wear tight/skinny/slim fit pants and never wear "baggy" clothes because apparently that's what "real men" used to wear, without realizing tight fitting clothes are also "a trend". But wide pants were actually the norm back in 30s and 40s. The only difference is that they weren't called "wide pants". It was just called "pants".

  • @Jopeymessmusic

I suppose the good thing about the RL jacket being a little roomy is that you can layer up under it. I know for vintage pieces, especially wool ones it's often not necessary but still. Maybe a light flannel or something similar to make up the difference in sizing y'know? I'm a big fan of vintage wool items. I have a vintage Woolrich jacket with "dump dump" pockets and I love it. I sized up as well so that's where the recommendation comes from, lmao.

Saga went under here a couple years ago due to "corporate limbo" and other issues previously like warehouse robberies. Not for everyone, but it's a solid DWR treated piece with pit-zips and all the features I need for harsh winters where I live, plus it has all of the other techwear aspects my little peanut brain craves.
