You mean the 3rd worst thing about them, because as we all know being loafers counts for 2 terrible things. I'm with you and definitely can't stand loafers, but I am also somebody with no use for dress shoes. If I'm not wearing boots I'm wearing my Woobies sneakers, and if I wanted something more traditional I'd probably go with a rough out Jim Green Vellie which is probably a perfect workshop shoe.

Im not sure about Adidas either. My last pair of samba shoes sucked horribly in every respect. My first pair last over a year. And when I bought my swedish boots from the seventies, they smelled horribly for weeks. The smell eventually went away with lots of use. And definitely stay away from cheap China crap. Very cool video.

Great video man! I don't know why Viberg call their shoe an oxford when it isn't. It is the Blucher/Derby style like the Allen Edmonds. Still a great shoe though!

Incredible! Love the natural waxed flesh. Enjoy! I’ve got a pair of trench oxfords from Oak Street Bootmakers. Highly recommend checking them out. I have a pair of camp mocs, penny mocs and trench oxfords. A pair of boots is only a matter of time :)

I have been sent hurtling down a rabbit hole of shoes, all day today, because of this video. I've discovered a lot of new terms, but more importantly, just how hard it is to find shoes similar to those Vibergs (at least, in the UK). They are so nice. Do you know of other companies that make similar shoes that may be a little more accessible in terms of price point? The closest I've found are Thursday's but they seem to have some mixed reviews, despite being GYW (not that I have an issue with stitchdown construction).

Most pacific north west boot makers (which viberg is a part of) is in the 500-700 price point. they’re beginning to release more shoes in the 200-400 range, but they tend to only be the hardcore-work-boot models (franks patriot, JK 300, Drew’s logger boot made in mexico), not the slimmer dressier ones.

Speaking of Canada someone needs to do a documentary on their boot making. Half the brands are unknown in Estados Muerica. I mean every Crown Vic was made in Canada and yet we have none of their boots and shoes....

Hmm, I guess I just love the smell of formaldehyde.

It’s true!! The glue on those Astorflex’s are so heavy though that I don’t think the Dartflexes could be resoled - I could be wrong though but since it’s a bit of a hybrid it’s a weird one

Most likely lighting but also if it’s any of the earlier footage it’s because they got a little beat up over time and lightened quite a bit!

My thought too, Novesta is Slovakian and used to be a Bata factory which probably explains it, with Bata being a Czech/Czechslovakian company with multiple factories in the region that probably made very similar shoes. I don't think those shoes in the video are from that exact factory though, but probably another Bata factory. Obviously Novesta continued making very similar shoes to when they where making Bata shoes.

@@TheIronSnail They came out with three different 145’s a couple months ago, seems to be some kind of limited release type of thing. So as far as the 145 shoe being discounted, no. Yours in particular though, most likely, yes. They have their bluchers and oxfords available, 145 seems to be special. Love your pair, I hope they make them again.

There's another company that makes incredibly cool shoes, but, not very popular. Grenson - literally made in all the canons of Real Shoes. I've been wearing them for 4 years now, the real leather hasn't deteriorated, and the soles are still good!

I talked with Russell Moc about this a ton and they call the vamp the piece of leather that I’m referring to! I used to call it the upper and I’m 90% sure both qualify - I’d prob say the front part of the upper is the toe box

Viberg boots are mid. I'm really sorry to offend anyone here who places these on a pedestal but when you're wearing the finest possible natural indigo jeans dyed in Tokushima from PBJ, with quality sewn t-shirts made in England by Sunspel (which is a mid brand) then the only footwear one should be caressing the Earth that we walk upon are a pair of Galway boots from Edward Green. Maybe its like an American thing that Viberg is seen as a "cool and hip" brand, but the boots and their proportion look so clumsy, elegance is not in their lexicon. Slip on a pair of Galways, some utahs with a dainite sole or a leather sole and you're landed. They come in at £1000 but its not normal leather and the construction is really decent. Footwear is such a Kirby Allison thing though, and we lads are almost in that territory. Good video as always, thank you. Also the only shoe I really want right now is the Edward Green Dover, that shoe is the single most handsome shoe since Warhol drew Berluti's.

Then some divers turn up with these beautiful hides, i honestly don’t know exactly when the divers relayed these hides to the surface but could be some 10-20 years ago? HRH Prince Charles was bequeathed a beautiful pair of shoes from New and Lingwood (I thought it was Cleverley) and the rest of the hides were divied up for various cobblers and leathersmiths.
