6 Craziest Watches Of All Time: Rolex, Bulova, Patek, Piaget & More

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In today’s #WatchTalk episode I'm joined once again by fellow watch enthusiast and industry insider Marc Frankel of Long Island Watch to discuss our picks for the top 6 craziest watches of all time.
From the most outlandish and super-rare Rolex Daytonas, to high-end watches from Greubel Forsey that pushed the boundaries of manufacturing, world-changing Pateks, record-breaking Piaget timepieces, revolutionary technology from American turned Japanese heavyweight Accutron, and more-this fun, luxury-themed watch chat is chock full of horological delights. And-spoilers!-tune in for a surprise appearance from the right dishonorable Hugo Mountbatten as he unveils his brand new, exclusive, limited-edition luxury timepiece that suspiciously looks like a Cartier Tank meets a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, but with a FOMO-inducing waitlist that rivals those of industry titan Rolex.

I strongly disagree. While Marc may come across as a nice guy, his store is a scam. TGV should know better, and fans of Marc should do their research and buy watches where they actually get a warranty card. It is, of course, ok if someone _wants_ to buy a factory second, but you should know what you're getting.

Sinn U200 is an overengineered beast of a tiny watch. Shockingly small at first but I have grown to love it. Now I'm all set to dive 2,000 meters when the urge to be completely crushed becomes desirable. When I feel like staying dry and returning to the space age a black Hamilton Spectra hits the spot. Keep up those collaborations. 👏

Awesomely funny intro :D I really enjoy learning about unusual and ingenious engineering ideas, and all that technological progress, not only in watches, but generally in everything through human history. That's also why I don't consider quartz watches as something inferior - the knowledge and technology used for making them is more advanced than for mechanical watches. Building an integrated circuit, even a simple one found in the simplest quartz watch - having a circuit for making the quartz crystal oscillate and a frequency divider - requires much more precision than making a mechanism of gears, and also requires much larger material purity. And it's much more complex. I'll admit that seeing a new and different technology, like the electrostatic Bulova, gives me much more fun that seeing a colorful Rolex.

This was a fascinating video. I’ve heard all about these various watches in my reading, but I didn’t know the details of the construction of the Rolex rainbow. It’s certainly not a watch I would ever want to wear or even known but it is interesting how it’s made. I love Piaget, particularly the Antiplano. but I’ll never spend that kind of money on a watch. It is beautiful. They came out with a thinner one later but Richard Mille has recently released one less than 2 mm thick.

I was eating a sandwich and almost choked to death at 1:20 when I could not stop laughing. One of your finest introductions and - having survived - I feel that I have earned a place in line for one of the Hugos. Please let me know when it will become available so that I can dispatch a courier with my cheque. Bravo!

Marc’s pick are just completely insane timepieces ! 😱😱🤩 If I had to pick 3 watches to participate, I would say : - the Accutron because it’s one of the kind, - the Zenith El Primero 1/100 s, just ’cause they can do it, but 1/100 s it’s just pointless in a wrist watch, - The JLC Reverso Hybris ’cause it’s just mind blowing tech in a Reverso !

Wow!... thank you very much T.G.V. and Mark for another solid but very educational moment and plenty of fun!. It's been great! Well my knowledge about horology... well, this is too short but related with this about curious and bizarre stuff, once I heard someone saying about a Breguet's calyber, a very exclusive one, they tried to avoid any possible friction between the pieces inside that mechanism so they build some of them with a very sophisticated levitant and superconductive material... Sorry me because I couldn't find its name, but only known its brand's name, again, suposedly Breguet has made that possible. It is all what I know. THANK YOU !!!!!!! Saludos!!!
