Our Top 10 Favorite Seiko Watches Of All Time: Watch Collection Talk 5
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In today's Watch Collection Talk episode, I am joined once again by the horological legend and watch industry entrepreneur Marc Frankel of Long Island Watch. We discuss our all time favorite watches from Seiko, including a wide range of watches-from the affordable level (starting around $50) to super high end luxury at $5,000 and beyond.
We share what we love about each watch and what we don't, changes in the industry, old and new trends, our thoughts on each timepiece from both a design and engineering perspective, and our mutual watch obsession. So grab your favourite drink, and enjoy this fun and laidback show.
Spoilers ahead! In this video we feature the following watches:
Flightmaster "Flighty" SNA411 Chronograph, Seiko 5 SNK809, SARB033, Grand Seiko "Snowflake" SBGA211, SKX009, SKX007, SKX013, Seiko Spirit SCED035, SCED037, Giugiaro Design "Ripley" Limited Edition, SKX779 "Monster", SRP309 "Orange Monster", 6139-6002 "Pogue", SLA037J1 (SBEX009 JDM) "62 Mas" Anniversary Limited Edition reissue, DXA001 & DXA002 "TV Watch", 6105-8110 “Captain Willard”, H558 "Arnie", SNR049 Prospex, 5KX, Alpinist SARB017 and Presage "Cocktail Time" SSA343J1.

Look, I felt the same way that loads of people felt: This is way too long. Oh, I was wrong. This is an absolute homerun! Two watch guys talking about watches, not as KZreadrs, but as two buddies would in any coffee shop over a nice cuppa! Congratulations guys!

Can we start a petition to have Seiko do a TGV and Long Island Watch Limited Edition Collaboration? You two have hand in hand kept the Flighty going...created a cult following.
Please dont rush and edit out too much of these videos. I love them! Its so relaxing hearing two friends talk about watches in good spirit and with som jazz in the background. Its like meditation for me
I am surprised that you are surprised that people sit through one full hour of your videos. They are so entertaining and informative that I wish they were longer. Top class content.
Had literally just typed in 'Seiko Urban Gentry' in the YT search bar as a notification for this video pops up! Crazy how the universe works.

Hey Cody, somehow not surprised that you watch Marc and friends
I started my small Seiko collection last year with the following: 1. SKX007 2. SARB035 3. SRPF33 "Tubbataha Reef" Totally love your channel and these collab with Marc! ☺
There is no other channel where I've sat all the way through an hour long video. :-)
TGV, totally found your videos by accident a few weeks ago. I dug up my Raymond Weil that was dead in a drawer and gave it new life. Thank you for your watch and life pointers..great stuff man, I'm a fan.
This video literally felt like it was only 15 or 20 minutes long I loved it!
You guys got me into this passion ❤️/feeling good in viewing watch talk show... Hope this continues as longer series...
The seiko 7a28 movement was really a master class in showing what seiko could do. No expense was spared on making that fully serviceable 15 jewel quartz chronograph movement. No wonder it’s commanding high prices nowadays. Worth every penny.
3. Flighty 2. SARB017 1. SKX007/009j

Two of my favorite watch channel guys chatting away casually. Just wonderful! Please continue doing this series, this just genius! Bravo!!

I am also very happy to see the two of you back together again. It is one of my favorite watch shows to view. Thank you both.
Glad to see another fine episode.
Favourite Seiko: Tuna! Nothing else quite like it. Iconic Seiko. Pet peeve: the Sarb033 clasp on the bracelet, the huge tunnel it has when closed. Best bang for buck watch out there and it’s only true negative.

Favorite Seiko...I bought a 1974 Seiko LM which was the first watch I bought when I was 17 and had just joined the Army....I am passing it on to my Grandson. I also bought a 57 Omega Seamaster, for the year after I was born..to pass down... I love your content and your collaborations with Marc. He sold me a 1963 Zinjuan...I love it and I tried to mod a SKX 007J I bought from him , with his additions to look like his Squale....on the white band....you both are my two favorite content creators and in my old age I have fallen in love with watches again.
TGV I really like this format with yourself and Marc. I'll be honest I've been a fan for years and there's been ups and down and a lot of noise within the KZread watch community as I'm sure you're all too aware of, but this is where I think you're at your strongest. Just talking watches and allowing your passion to show through. You're not a technical guy that talks specs and nuances of movements like some but you love what you love and that has to be commended and applauded. Here's to more of this format and just of you being you. Great work
Seiko in the 80s and 90s was so damn cool.
RIP Sean. I have a ''pogue'' it was a gift from my father.

Just so great to see this come up and I really respect both of your different views on a great brand. Can’t wait to see what you come up with for your next monthly show. More Hugo of course please!
Very cool picks once again, couldn’t agree more with some of them. Love to watch you guys talk, can’t get enough of it. Cheers!
I've been collecting pocket knives for about a year and am about to buy my first decent watch. Definitely going Seiko. Thank you for all the amazing videos, but these collab videos with you two are great.
This episode was such a good laugh. I love how uptight you are with Hugo 😂 !!
Thanks to both of you for making these collaborative videos. They really are a lot of fun to watch...
A treasure trove of information!! A newbie to the hobby of watch collecting and I couldn’t have picked a more entertaining & informative channel. Keep up the great work!
Seiko will always be my favorite watch brand. They got me into watches, and they keep me in the hobby. Of all the watches I currently own, probably my SBBN037 blue Tuna is my favorite, but I do have the SNA411 Flighty as well, and my SRP777 Turtle wants a mention since I wear it often enough. Of the watches I don't own, I'm really loving the 2020 Astron models (thinking REALLY hard about pulling the trigger...), and the Grand Seiko SBGX335 quartz. I also really dig things with historical importance (the first Astron, for example) even if I don't otherwise like the aesthetics or wouldn't wear the watch for some reason. As for things I dislike about watches, well, probably just people that are excessively snobby about it. Watch collecting is very much a to-each-their-own kind of hobby, with no objective direction one must take, so it's always vomit inducing to listen to some prick talk about how awesome something they have is, and how something another person owns is garbage just because they don't like it for X reason. That sort of person can be found in literally every hobby, of course.

What do you think of Credor?
Do this more!! I like to see more of this and when you say no one is going to watch I think you are wrong I am sure many will as well. Love your conversations with mark he is a good man with a good heart with great knowledge about watches and when combined you and him, you speak for all real watch enthusiasts who know it well mainly from deep withing without able to explain it fully.
I crept downstairs early in the morning to watch this! Fantastic listening to two passionate people talking watches. Great to see you both together. More videos please!!!
I love watching these two talk about watches. Right now watches aren't in the budget, but someday my collection will look like a TGV and Mark inspired list.
I love the accuracy of the spring drives and the movement fascinates me so much, but I was still on the fence as to weather I wanted one. When I saw Marc's video on how it works, it sent me right over the top and it is now something I will need to buy eventually. Snowflake is my dream watch.
I started being interested in automatic watches one year ago and saw the snk 809 - loved it but couldn't believe there was an automatic for that cheap... bought it and loves it since day one :)

Another great video! Love your chats with Marc. My favorite Seiko of all time happens to be my first Seiko. Having only recently gotten into the hobby myself, I was excited to learn of my fathers passion for watch collecting over the years. Last Christmas he was generous enough to give me his SARB017 he had purchased 15 years earlier. It will always remain one of my most cherished possessions and will always take center stage in my watch box. Thanks again TGV
Love you both....Mark & Gentry. Keep bringing us these collaborations, we love them.
Awesome! Two of you make a perfect duo. You and Marc’s videos actually are what got me into watches! Still haven’t bought my first one but I think it will be an Orient Triton or a Seiko Turtle. Or an Islander 😂
A always watch whole episode !!)
I just "stumbled" upon you and Marc in the last couple of weeks. I love these videos and Marc's "Watch and Learn", and actually bought my first Islander from Marc's store (ISL-27 ... yes, it's a blue face) and LOVE it! Keep up the great work.
I love these discussions. Good to know you guys are going to be doing this on a monthly basis.
Favorite Seiko: SARB035; Pet Peeve: Watches sold for a specific gender. They should simply be classified by case diameter, weight, and so on. Most so-called "women's watches" are boring dress pieces anyway, and if you want something fresh, adventurous, or athletic, you have to look at the men's models.

I recently got a SARB035, but couldn’t get the fit right with the bracelet. There’s a serious lack of micro-adjustments on it! I got a Strapcode “O” bracelet; now it fits perfectly. What a nice watch!

Hmmm I haven’t fully understand that accutron 2020 yet but based on my knowledge, if spring drive is between quartz and mechanical but more mechanical, that sccutron is towards more quartz, but I haven’t get how that really works but somehow I got confused with a kinetic movement....
Thoroughly enjoyed this! Watched it all. More please.
I really like this type of video. A nice relaxed conversation about watches! Great!
Crossed wires on what "domestic" means for Seiko, domestic=Japan only. It seems like Mark was thinking domestic=USA. (around 45:50 or so)

SKX007J1 hands down. I bought my first one in 1979 and was wearing it while I was working on jets in Germany. The bracelet was the cheap two-prong variety and I bumped the watch against a wing pylon and it went sailing through the air for twenty feet and bounced across the tarmac for another 5 feet. The watch didn't miss a beat. I wore it for another 15 years until my ex took it in a divorce. My second one is 20 years old and is finally going to Seiko for a service. I received my third one today so I could wear it while the second one is at Seiko. I always enjoy these videos, please keep them coming. Cheers
Really loved this. Thankyou
