The reaction from the chickens were more dramtic with the 7.62x39. I think it dumped more energy into them. Thats why the 6.5 had more penetration.

Great video. Glad the variables were as consistent as possible. A lot of these videos will have bias/favoritism and/or at least not be a fair comparison with one barrel being several inches longer than the other, or two different bullet constructions or something else. Woulda been cool to see a 16” 6.8 SPC with a 120 grain SST in there as well.

Thank you, I try to make things as fair as I can, sometimes it’s not possible to be as close as these two were, but I try to be close and point out any advantages in variables if there are any. 6.8 is a round I haven’t gotten into, I may have to cause I like the numbers it produces.

I'll still go with the Grendel as it's made for distances farther than ten yards or less, and for medium game, or for self-defense in which it does crazy damage. For extreme close quarters, there are 5.56/.223 rounds in the defensive 62 and 64 grain realm much better suited (e.g. silver-tip, not the military green tip).

Great video guys, you chose excellent pairings. I am a fan of both cartridges, and agree that the Grendel is better at distance. At close range, the 7.62 is going to make a bigger hole and dump its energy rapidly. I bet little man knows the difference between an AK and an AR.
