1. spectral sensitivity of eye to green is higher than red = 1mw green is brighter then 1mw red 2. brighter green beam is wider - in some applications it is worse 3. camera has low dynamic range - it overdims the weaker laser 4. the weaker the laser, the less chance you need surgery to restore eyesight

So if someone is stood unseen in the distance you damage their eyes ? One doesn't shoot guns without knowing there's no one in the line of fire. Same applies to high power lasers.

One of them is probably 15-20 mW, and the other 50 mW. You can't see the beam of 5 mW under those conditions.

just amazon doesnt sell lasers what have beams effect?

nm stands for nanometers, which is how far apart each wave on the laser is... the lower the number the brighter the laser is because the waves will be closer together in the beam and more "dense"..... mW however stands for milliwatt and that is how much power the laser has. two totally different things

It's actually better them one of the very cheap lasers, but what do you mean with ''pop''? when i turn it on, its weak for like 0.5 seconds, then if full. My eyes hurt already only by looking at the beam, not even the dot.

You're right. I bought a 5mW green laser off ebay and I compared it to my 50mW laser, the 5mW had a much better beam! So I was quite annoyed that I spent more money on a 50mW when I didn't have to so I ended up sending it back lol.

Kyle Warden you cant measure the effect of at laser on its brightness since that has to do with its wavelength, thats why cheap 100 mw lasers are so dangerous because you barely see the beam tough its burning your eyes like hell,

Wont burn skin..but will get warm if held there for long enough..and yes your eyes will hurt and im sure if aimed enough it will ruin vision by some...had if accidentally blink in my eyes few times,,saw tiny bit worse from all that light for a sec.

TBH. That seller is no more. Your best of searching 50mw green laster pointer and hoping for a good one. That one..to this day works really well. Pop some new batteries in and man is it powerful. Got lucky with a good seller. I bought mine of ebay years ago.

U blinded me I was far away and got blinded by ur laser beam when I pointed it down the road.

The red laser beam seems less bright because the human eye can see better the color green then any other color. Also >5mW will mostly damage you eyes because the eye reflex is too slow.

Yeah Chicago is bad I hear, well a legitimate 50mw will be great, but a real one will most likely cost a couple to few hundred dollars. the 5mw might be enough for temp eye pain but not sure if it'll last for more then a few seconds, the more power the better obviously.

+daniel Lamb For self defense, I'd recommend a super bright LED flashlight with a fast strobe. Look into Nitecore brand to see what I mean. Mine will make it hard to see fo 30 seconds after only 1 second blast.

Amazon DOT com.. search around. theres different kinds. Mine im not sure from who i got it. its was around 26$ for it. This one is metal heavy and feels well built unlike the cheap black plastic one.

I have a "200mW, 532nm" green laser, it cost me about € 15, bought on a tourist market in the balkans (such a laser cost about € 80 in mij country..), but it looks more like a 5mW laser, did they scammed me or did i misjudged the laser?

It says under 50 milliwatts that means it could be anything from 0 to 50 not necessarily 50

It was foggy so the green line became much more visible. Otherwise it is very faint. Can still see it at night. But not lime the video..btw still have the laser years later. Works great.

If you have the money get a 50mw or stronger,,the strong one i have was from amazon for around 28$..cant find the seller any more. and now a lot of scammers out their saying their laser are this much which they really arent.

It is very easy to buy a $25 laser and replace the motherboard and laser diode and save hundreds of dollars. You need to know alot about your laser and be specific. Go on ebay and search 200mw diode. They are mostly not in the U.S.A but they are really really cheap and worth the money.

you can make 200mw+ hand held lasers bro

of course, i've seen up to 4w in a "pen" form and of course wicked lasers 1w is still kindof a pen, handheld at least

Guys, i think mustafa has been told what nm means already, he (or she) only needs to be told once..... Pretty good comparison, i have the 5mW< green laser myself and it's rather good, but it does have contact issues.

In aus we have the shittest laws known to man and any laser above 1mw is classified illegal and needs permit, any over 50mw even more illegal and considered a "weapon"

it says < 5mw not 5mw. so it can be 3 mw or 1 mw. the other one says < 50mw so it can be 5mw. I have a green laser that says < 5000mw and it can't even burn anything. it's probably 5mw as well.

if your were to grab one of those things that goes into a electrical outlet and do some tinkering aka cutting the wire insulation and exposing the copper then twisting those into the laser diode wires then you could get more power i think not sure tho

Hey i need some help, my friend has a real 50mW he got from Amazon and the beam is like TINY and bearly visable at night, although it was still cool, yours was WAY better

50mW is just right, not burning a lot but it does burn a little and not to thin of a beam it's just right

The < symbol means less than. So < billion watts means it's less than a billion watts. Less than a billions could be 1mW, 2mW, 3mW, etc.
