5L40E Piston Installer Tool

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video i show the mandatory tool needed to install the clutch pistons on the 5L40E, there are other methods that can be used such as a series of cones which you will see but i find the original tool is the best way to go. Next week we will finish up the 5L40E series with the valvebody. Thanks for watching everyone.

The skinny piston looks similar to large coffee can. May would work pushing down evenly. Not sure though. You got it perfectly anyways. Great videos. Love your channel.

Hey Gary, it's nice that you continue the good work, it is very important, maybe you should buy the tool for future installation.

Hello Gary, thanks for the good videos, well got a one question for you, what would be the cause of low power more specifically on the GM5L40in first gear, like the car would need a bit of gas like 1200rpm to start moving! Regards

Hey man I got a 2008 bmw 328i and I did my valve cover gasket and now my dash won’t show drive or reverse and won’t move unless I wait about 30 seconds and it won’t shift out of first . I checked my cables under my shift knob and nun are short . I had no transmisson problems prior the only think I can think of is the ignition coil ground stud is stripped so it’s not a super tight flush any recommendations?

Ok, First thing i would like for you to do is shake the harness and see if you can communicate with the transmission, just had one here with that code and just helped out someone with that codes, both problems were wiring, but first check your fuses, there may be 2 of them. Where are you located?

Each to their own, but I can see why you were out of Transgel. A light coating on the piston, housing and tool is just as effective as building up an eighth of an inch layer. Consider the physics of this. This is a friction fit. Once you have passed each microscopic distance, the excess lube is just scraped off in one big glob. Just for shits and giggles, pull out the piston again and see the mass of gel left in the housing.

I'm sure it's not, it's the installing part that is the problem, rather have it slide into place without binding.
