John Deere pattern, is what I call it and most everyone I know calls it. SAE or excavator is boom on the right lever.

Hey man , great video, try something, if you want when you are folding up and getting ready for transport, hold back or left on the right control and then bring the left control back as normal, it loads the system and the return won’t be as violent. Takes a bit of practice though.

Hey Andy, You gave a great instructional video on the controls! The one thing I was unable to see that just out of view was what and where was the control to extend and pull back the Extendahoe function?

On this machine with this style controls, the extendahoe is the foot pedal on the right of the control tower. Toe down extends, heal down retracts. Thanks, I appreciate it.

Hi Andy Just watching your video on controls, most helpful. We have that same 580 SK 1995 & our seat control for up & down doesn't work. It will lift or adjust up , but won't stay up. Any help is appreciated.

Are you talking about the adjustment for different weight operators? There is a plastic nut that holds the springs that breaks. Mine just broke in the last year and I haven't been able to find a replacement. Thanks for watching

I think that pattern is called excavator controls. I'm no expert but I remember from watching another video. Nice rig.

@@AndyFromm I don't own a machine operate on for a living but I like heavy equipment a lot and when I was 15 I got operate a Komatsu excavator and I remember to this day the pattern for the controls. Your setup is the same pattern as most excavators bbut don't quote me on what its called.

Tiger Woodz, it’s backhoe controls, excavator controls are flipped, literally. When he shows the controls in the vid (pic diagram) flip one side to the other.

SAE (deere) backhoe controls , ISO are excavator standard

Open windows and show lights and signals. Maybe some operating footage

Is here the clutch is activated by a button next to the gear lever? I've never operated an excavator, but my cousin has a similar model. Generally they are very popular in Poland. And from what I can see, it is not complicated to use at all.

Yes there is one on the loader control lever and on the 4 speed transmission shifter. It is more of a fluid dump than a clutch because the the transmission has a torque converter and it is on or off.

I'm not sure on other machines but the 580sk uses HY-Trans hydraulic fluid in the brakes and hydraulics.

from my research online. the 580k: turbo or non turbo loader controls come out of the dash 4 speed shifter comes out of the floor to the right yellow fenders the 580sk: turbo or non turbo loader controls come out of the floor 4 speed synchronized shifter on the right console brown fenders parking brake & 4x4 levers come out of dash probably plenty more I missed

How do you check the transmission oil?

On the 580sk there should be a little flap on the floor mat between the backhoe controls and the seat with the dipstick under it.

Now the Controls on that case backhoe was reversed from John Deer it would be Cat Control the difference is the Control on right stick would be moved lift stick that would make it Cat .

No just the controls on your case backhoe right now it's set up like John Deere the way the livers are in the back if you were to reverse them it would be a cat control case backhoe that's all

Yeah I just picked one up for AU $20k too. Similar age and condition.

This old Case has the good control setup , I despise the old foot pedal/ 3 stick controls.

I've never tried them, I looked specifically for this style. I don't think I'm coordinated enough to run a hand/foot hoe.

@@AndyFromm They are awful, and offer no advantage to this style. I've never heard anyone say anything good about them. The main reason Case keeps them as standard is because many oldschool operators grew up using those, and still want them. They do it so to keep Case diehards as Case diehards lol. Besides that aspect, Case 580's with your type control setup are unbeatable backhoes. I ran a 580 Super M about 15 years ago and it was the nicest most powerful backhoe, I loved it and it was better than any Deere or Cat.
