533 Steels the Show! Baltimore Key Bridge Collapse Site on May 18, 2024
Ойын-сауық
The Key Bridge Site was bust today as the Chesapeake 1000 battled with debris and the Weeks 533 worked on removing steel from the bow of the Dali. The Weeks 533 stood out as the massive piece of Key Bridge was lifted away.
This is a modified 4K video with audio overlaid from our livestream.

I love watching your videos. The little yellow machine bottom right looks like a bird pecking away at the debris, picking up stuff and rearranging it on the barge. What clever crane drivers working here. Congratulations to everyone involved.
Watching from Holland Michigan..Born an raised in Dundalk, was a professional firefighter in Baltimore County for 30 years.
Hello Captain Andy from Perth Western Australia. Stay dry Captain.
Dude Go easy on yourself, any video is GREAT video!
Pippa Williams from Hout Bay, Cape Town, South Africa. Love watching the daily updates on the Dali and the Francis Scott Bridge. I'm in shipping [with MSC] on the reefer cargo side, so the yellow containers you see on the Dali are our ours😪. We share tonnage with Maersk on various routes. I find it facinating watching the clean up. Sincere condolences the the families of the 6 men who lost their lives in the bridge collapse - absolutely tragic. Praying for them all🙏. Thanks for bringing us great visuals and coverage!
Watching the sped up version of the day really lets us see how much work was done.
Wow!! The Weeks just moved those three beams off the ship. Cool!!
Cap'n Andy! Well Done!! Chessie's barge was rocking, Weeks was moving a lot, Ed was stuffing his face...all to the sound of "bacon frying". I had to miss today for my granddaughter's softball game. She got her very first hit & her very first run!! Won the first game, lost the 2nd. So happy for this 4k video. Thank you So Much!! ♥️♥️
Thank you for your efforts in showing us the activity, watching from NZ Cheers
Thank you for this sped up version. It was fascinating to watch. After you ended your live so much more has happened. Weeks, Chessie/ Gus and the crew moved like fiends.
just can't get quality video at this distance.... proceeds to give us better quality than any of the news networks. Way to go Andy!
Thanks Captain Andy for being here day in and day out rain or shine. Thanks for ALL you do.
Hey Andy & Crew !! YEPPER !!! The 533 got the cone off the Dali & Now they can concentrate of the moving !!! 🤔🙄😉 Thanks again for your time to bring this together !!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Captain Andy. You and your team are doing outstanding work, you don't owe apologies to anyone for anything. You don't control the weather, you don't control what's happening on the site. Keep up what you're doing. It's outstanding work.
I find it incredible that they continue to work 24/7 even in the rain to get the channel open and the ship removed. This effort should be THE model for all future needs should they ever happen at another site. The cooperation and roll up your sleeves mentality is awesome.
Andy, I couldn't stay for the entire live broadcast, but I saw parts of it. I do appreciate these afternoon synopses. Great, Keep up the good work. It is appreciated. I've been with you since the Golden Ray. Thanks for the videos. Jon

As far as I can tell 5 of the 7 cranes are working on this fine rainy Saturday. They will be done sooner than many thought they would. - Thanks Captain!

Would be interesting to interview the crane operators. Skilled.
I appreciate you braving the weather, while I sit in my toasty living room.
I love the sound of the rain...
I'm always on here a few times a day. Appreciate you all and the hard workers.
The Readers Digest version in the afternoon. The 533 takes a strain on the V beams. Doing some cutting on the left side of the screen. Ed is a busy bee. The 533 has a nice pick. Thanks Cpt. Andy.
Thanks for keeping us abreast on what is happening with the Dali and the salvage of the debris. Rain makes me think of popcorn. I am going to take a break and make me some. Yum yum!!!
Even in the rain, great video and progress.
Keep up the great work Captain 🇿🇦
Your the best captain Andy
Note the difference between the chords of the Chessy and the Weeks' booms. Note also the number of parts in the topping lift and load lines. Capacity. Good show, Cap'n!
Thank you for your outstanding coverage of this fascinating operation.
Thank you for this special edition of today's great success!

Thank you for putting these key moments together. BZ!
Quite interesting at around 4pm your time, when the WEEKS got into difficulty with either a container or some wreckage, seemed a man cage had to release it. If you can see an STL video. Thank you for your channel.
We do love watching your live stream Capt Andy Because We care about everything like the State of Maryland and the Port of Baltimore. And am wanting to see everything through until the New Bridge is built and opened again.
Thnk you for this, missed the first of it this morning. 533 did awesome job today. heard they are starting tomorrow to get ready to move the Dali on Monday? 21 hour job to get it ready to go. Hoping for Monday. Wish you were going to be here. have a safe trip.
Thanks for explaining. When the reporters first talked about the bow tanks being flooded, it sounded like they were saying the bow tanks were flooded because of damage.
Excellent video Andy. Thanks again for your dedication and time.

Hello Captain, great coverage as always. What's that black vertical line on the screen?
Thanks for this great video, this is interesting to see all what is going …not only the cheesepeak and the claw, but also the Weeks 533, the other cranes and even the excavator on the barge taking care of the large debris pieces❤

Worth waiting for, though I ducked in while eating my lunch today Impressively clean video for a rainy day. I saw the Chessie working to grapple something. Perhaps tomorrow. Thanks, Cap'n

First of all, I’m loving the content! But, to tell you the truth, I’m also taking an interest in watching the hydraulic cutter on the debris barge cutting up the beams that get laid on the barge. Maybe zoom in on that from time to time. It’s a much smaller machine but fascinating in its own right.
Thank you ❤ 😊
Cosy in here, out of the rain! LoL!!
Sounds like rain and hail
From Key bridge response 2024: UPDATE 28: Unified Command announces plan for refloating, transit of M/V Dali Saturday, May 18, 2024 BALTIMORE - The refloat and transit of the M/V Dali from its current location to a local marine terminal is slated for Monday morning (subject to change). Refloat: Optimum conditions call for the transit of the M/V Dali to commence at high tide, predicted to be Monday at 5:24 a.m. The vessel will be prepared at 2 a.m., allowing the M/V Dali to catch the peak high tide for a controlled transit.
Love da "Mullett Man",,,
That crane on the left was keeping busy all day. Some of the smaller units have been unsung heroes. Was that crane to the back right of the 533 wielding a cutter to separate the metal for the 533? It had an odd looking horizontal device, it wasn't a man basket or anything familiar.

Saw that the 533 removed that remaining triangle sticking up from the Dali.
Thank you for sharing?
533 made some good progress on dali whilst gus has been busy too. caroline
One thing I found amazing was the size of the dolphins around the high tension poles as compared to the dolphins for the bridge. If the bridge has similar sized dolphins, this accident would not have happened.
The Baltimore Banner reports the Dali will be refloated at 2AM Monday May 20th during high tide. Preparations will begin Sunday with crews removing some of the mooring & anchor lines as well as pumping out some of the over 1.25 million gallons of water being currently used as ballast onboard. Up to 5 tugs will move the Dali to a dock in the port.

Is this fixed or are there likely to be delays? Wud love to watch it live; that wud make it 8pm Sunday 19th with the time difference. Has it been confirmed by Unified Command? Thinking that there must still be a lot of debris under water near the Dali that may still need to be removed, b4 it is safe to refloat her? @Captain Andy, can that be confirmed? Thanks, Pippa, Hout Bay, Cape Town, SA.

I guess I’m ocd or what ever but I like the sped up better
Been watching since the begining dont comment much but i have to say a lot of work ships in a small area . Do you know what the red white and black crane doing , and when are they going to remove the truss they used explosives on . Looks its in the way
Singing: "I Fought The Claw and The Claw Won"
It makes me wonder how they will lift the road surface stuff off the deck, how do ever attach or grab something like that, all woven thru with rebar.
Thank you for the frequency that I asked for I found it on my own. I just went on the got on the ham radio went to Mars star Inc and I picked it up myself. Sorry your tents leaking maybe find somebody put a piece of tarp over it, wrap the sides, three sides of it you’ll be fine.
Oh youn eed a new pic your not doing the goldenr ay anymore lmao be well Capt and thanks for bringing this to us .

All of that rain came to you from Houston...they were hit HARD!!!!!
Did anybody else notice the piece of wooden debris at the very bottom of screen??
Sounds Minnesota and Maryland have similar weather
How do they rotate that big claw on Chessie as its hanging there?
Hi Captain Minorcan Andy, I was wondering, and somehow I missed this in your live presentation. But Why in the world are they Spraying Water on that "A" Shaped Beam? I can clearly see some men around it spraying a hose of water to, I guess Cool it down? But why? I didn't see no Cutting being done. Maybe I didn't look in the right place. Thanks for your time. Terry

The cutting method needed water for cooling and lubrication
So what is the cost per day for all the cranes ect.some idea of the scale of this project.

Yes
The Chessy jumped really hard there near the end. Something must have broken loose. Just a thought. Could you get a shot of Fort McHenrys garrison flag and play the National Anthem?
Any ideas on how they remove the concrete pillars off the bow? Hydraulic Hammer machines? Cranes can't lift those.
