    You can "cheat" as use a handle cutter.

    Handles attached high on mug will make weight of mug feel heavy. Lower handle attachment gets hand more under the weight and feels lighter, easier to lift

    You can just use a needle tool to compress and smooth out the joint.

    Approximately how thick is the flattened clay before you start pulling it? How thick to start and then how thick when finished? Thanks for sharing. I like the flattening process to prep the handle. It starts with the correct shape.

    Before pulling approximately 5/8” after pulling less than 1/4” on the thick portion.
