I love it! The best of both worlds - throwing and hand building. Thanks for the idea!

i liked that handle better than the tea pot one. I also like how you leave the join overlapped, like steel plates on a ship, not trying to disguise how it was made. The glaze looks great too

I've been meaning to try my hand at making a cup with this shape for some time. Since I also love textured surfaces, it seems this technique would be right up my alley. As for how comfortable it would be to use a cup like this I'll have to try one and see. I have a feeling that I would like it. The trick would be to get just the right glaze so that it shows off the texture well.

yes definitely the glaze is very important. I developed mine to be transparent and a little fluid (but not too fluid - they don't run off the pot at all)

The texture comes from a 100 year old textured window pane from the home that has been in my family for 5 generations. I made a plaster cast of the glass.

it looks in focus to me. Pause the video and you can read. It is just notes to myself written on the template - a little sketch of the cup, note to keep tight at the top, push out at base, weight and dimensions for the thrown base (170g for 10cm dia). These speedy videos are really just to inspire in people what is possible, not give a detailed step by step guide.
