We had some storms yesterday and I was driving to the next town over to get dog food and there was a small tree laying halfway in the road, I happened to have my saw so I stopped to clean it up. As I was tossing the 5-6 chunks in my pickup the township guys showed up in the dump truck, someone had called about the tree. They said they just got done cleaning up a big red oak just down the road. I ended up getting a huge load of firewood out of it, had to leave the last 10 foot of trunk ran out of room I’m going back for it this afternoon. Funny today you post a video about the same thing. Thumbs up

Hey Hunter, I seen that hand come up a bit, awesome of ya to drop in right fast to say Hi!.. Hey Eva/Melissa!... Mike, that very back tire on the RK trailer right side (looking at it from rear view) looked a little low on air. May just have been the way it was setting on the roadside, but maybe worth a check... I got hot-hot yesterday; thought I was in serious trouble, done stopped sweeting/slight headache. Went inside immediately when I noticed, and that wrapped me up for the evening.... Has been A Lot of 95° and heat indexes of 105° here for past 2 weeks with an everyday shower to keep it wet/humid... Forecast next week is Sunshine, lower humidity, mid 80's highs and 60's lows after a Cold front pushes through out of the North Tues.... Soooo READY for it!... Y'all Have a Day!☺

Chickens are pretty hearty. Had a rooster meet up with our Border Collie. He got away but lost most of his left wing. I amputated the rest, cleaned it, and doused it with Wonder Dust. He’s still kicking a week later. Thanks for the vids! Take care.

Mike, what you did is called "curb shopping", although cutting up a tree isn't quite the same as touring the neighborhood the night before trash pick-up and finding "good stuff", remember "one persons trash, is another persons treasure".

Hey Mike and Hunter also Eva and Melissa . a good videos. Hope the chicken survives okay. You definitely need to thin out the foxes around you to slow down the chicken killings. Loved the way you managed to clean up the roadside and help yourself at the same time. You did a good job and did it safely clearing up the downed tree. Thanks for sharing, be safe out there in the heat.

Nice save with that log...you can get some nice useful lumber out of it, if not for you, someone else would buy it from you for a small project. The trailer of firewood will be useful for someone as well....you could have brought home that rotted piece and cut it up for firewood too, it'll burn just like the rest LOL. But hey you left it out there on the side of the road to turn into natural mulch, good idea too. I just went over to my Kubota dealer this afternoon and picked up my quick hitch for my BX2680. Also told them I don't need the pallet forks that I paid for 2 months ago and still haven't got...told them I got tired of waiting on them, and ordered a set of Titan forks from Messick's and got them in 8 days and have been using them quite a bit already. I just wish my salesman would have followed through with everything. I was supposed to get a 60" mid mount mower as well, and thanks to him not doing his job it was never ordered, yet somehow the total cost of the tractor seems as though it was in the price, but never put on paperwork so I doubt I'll ever see it :(. I guess if I ever want a mower I'll have to call Messick's and order it too seems how the dealer 30 miles away can't get a simple tractor and implement order put together properly...they sent someone from Idaho to Utah to get my tractor, you would think they could have picked up the pallet forks, and mower deck too....far from impressed with them.

Mike this was really an enjoyable video. I’ll just drool over those cherry firewood pieces. I think about all the great turning projects just one of those wood make. Back in Colorado I got hooked up with a fellow that had a full time tree service company. He also has a wood mixer sawmill and so we’d trade wood on his lot for my help in showing him how to get slabs for turning blanks. I got spoiled. Now he turns wood. Thanks Mike. Have a day!

Really enjoy ur channel for many reasons, I have son with issues as well and have a farm I am working as well. But I think a big reason is I grew up cutting, splitting and stacking firewood with my dad. It was hard work but fond memories. My dad was a lineman and tough as nails. I remember he had a pole he had climbed fall and broke several ribs and a few days later he was holding his ribs with one hand and splitting wood with the other!! I was about 12 and that has stuck in my memory bank all these years. I lost my dad coming up on three years ago and trees and cutting firewood bring great memories back. Thanks for the channel...

Mother Nature provided you with some nice cherrywood, GOLD methinks! I got a laugh out of the d/way sign, " Never Mind the Dogs, Beware of the Wife "... Priceless. I carry a stiff bristle brush with my saw equip. at all times. I may have been seeing things, but I think I saw sparks under the base of the cherry tree when doing the undercut at its butt end. A quick glance at your saw teeth will confirm this possibility ... I'm on a roll here, (1) more nitpick, lol. I didn't see a bail clip on the trailer's coupler & I saw no safety chains hooked up. Sorry that's (2). Because you were on the town road, they are a MUST. Myself personally, anything I tow on my steep hilly property get the bail clip through the coupler & safety chain treatment... 95° in the shade on Sat. @ 1:15 pm & at 4:00 pm they began to drop @ 94° & by 7:00 pm it was 90°... I would think Mr Fox has a bullet with its name on it... Bill... :~)

Around here where I am at, there are downed trees all over the place, but no one is allowed to get the wood. There is also a couple of game lands right down the road and they will not let you get any of the downed trees either. I heard some areas they let you get permits to get the downed trees from the game lands, but the one near me won't issue permits for it. They say that the fallen trees are wildlife habitat. There are so many dead trees in the game lands and they won't drop them or anything. I don't think they consider that if there is ever a forest fire, all that dead wood is fuel to make the fire spread quicker and create a more intense fire. Up on my mom's property, there are a bunch of downed trees that I have to go up and cut up, just not sure about doing it right now as it is rattlesnake weather right now. Have had 2 rattlesnakes in my steel shed several weeks ago. They were both about 2 feet long. Then just the other day had a 4 foot rattlesnake in my yard. The 2 ft ones had 12 rattles and a button, the 4 ft one had 13 rattles and a button. Might have to wait for closer to the fall to cut the downed trees in my mom's property.

Speaking of that.... Looked to me, that Mike had a 29.8 degree grind angle on his MS 462 chainsaw cutters. Not sure why he would do this when Stihl *specifically* calls for a 30 degree grind angle. Unacceptable!! (kidding, of course)

Fun story arc with the heat. It starts with "ah, the heat isn't so bad, just take a break" and ends with " I almost gave myself heat stroke".

Those dogs need to earn their keep, old Bre Fox should be seen off by the 3 of them, if your having trouble with foxes , a fox whistle and a shot gun will solve your chicken problem, whistle them in and boom no more fox problem, here in Australia we have what's called a Tenterfield whistle, it imitates the distress sound of an injured rabbit or small animal, brings them in like a homing pigeon and you have no more fox problem. You should try some Hay Maker punch or Schnizelt I think its called for those hot sweaty days, will get your hydration levels back up real quick Mike.

Talking about firewood and splitters With that grapple on the tractor why can't you build a jig with a push plate on one side and one of those multi cut dies/wedge to grab a piece or 2 of wood ready to split and squeeze it?? Just a thought.

Tuff day for the chickens...maybe time for an outside dog? What do you think? Hydrate,Hydrate,Hydrate....your body is talking to you! Another nice profitable video...$250-$300 for less than 2 hours work seems fair to me👍😉 Wouldn’t it have been great as hot and sweaty as you were just to jump in your pool?🙄😎

Chickens are very very very hardy. If you can remove the feathers/ clean the wound with some iodine she will probably make it. Just give her time. You can always tell when Hunter is around and I know I have said it before but his mannerisms are the best I always get a good chuckle out of them. We are thinking about starting a small firewood operation out of our place mainly because of your videos. we don't have anything wood burning on our property. but it's always a shame to see these big trees rotting away in the woods so why not try to make some money off them. Around here a truck load goes for around 80-100 dollars so it would be well worth the time and energy to do it.
